Real Salt Lake have signed 22-year-old midfielder Briaian Ojeda on a one-year loan from Nottingham Forest.

The Paraguayan international is the first player RSL has added through the league's U-22 mechanism.

“Braian is a dynamic, two-way midfielder who will bring another option to our already talented group in the center of the pitch,” said RSL General Manager Elliot Fall. “He is a player hungry to compete and develop, while also bringing valuable international experience from his time with Nottingham Forest and Paraguay. We look forward to getting him on the ground in Salt Lake and competing for minutes soon.”

The Houston Dynamo will waive forward Tyler Pasher, according to 90min.

The winger scored six goals in 39 appearances during his time with the club.

Costa Rican star set to sign with RSL


Real Salt Lake are set to sign Costa Rican international Bryan Oviedo, reports Kevin Jimenez.

The 32-year-old defender has 72 caps for his country and has played for Everton, Sunderland and, most recently, FC Copenhagen.

Benfica midfielder Nuno Santos is set to sign with Charlotte FC, reports O Jogo.

Santos spent last season on loan with Pacos de Ferreira, with the 23-year-old having previously featured on loan for Morieirense and Boavista.

Internationally, he's represented Portugal up to the U-21 level.

Charlotte make three moves


Charlotte FC have traded defender Christian Makoun to the New England Revolution for $400,000 in 2022 and 2023 General Allocation Money, the club announced.

In addition, Charlotte have signed defender Nathan Byrne, who most recently featured for Derby County and Wigan Athletic, as well as defender Adilson Malanda from Rodez.

Salt Lake will receive general allocation money for Ochoa once the deal is confirmed, with an agrement between the two clubs now in place.

Striker Nicholas GIoacchini has joined Orlando City, the club announced.

The USMNT forward has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal upon completing a move from Caen.

Gioacchini has scored three goals in eight caps for the USMNT, including five appearances at the Gold Cup last summer.

“[Orlando is] a place where I felt at home. A Club with a history of being very family-like and the fans…The fans, the stadium, it’s a place where there’s a lot of energy and that’s for sure a part of the reason I decided to come,” Gioacchini said. “[Playing in MLS is] one of the parts I’m most excited about. Whitecaps add Gressell from D.C.


The Vancouver Whitecaps have signed Julian Gressel from D.C. United, the club announced.

Gressel will cost the Whitecaps $900,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM), with $300,000 of that depending on if Gressel plays in just three MLS matches.

“We are always looking for opportunities to take our team to the next level and Julian is the perfect fit. He has been on our radar for a long time, and we are very happy we got this deal done,” said Axel Schuster, Whitecaps FC sporting director.

“Over the past five plus years in the league, Julian has proven to be one of the best players in MLS, regardless of position, and is a league leader in assists. His ability to cross the ball and to set up his teammates in good positions will add additional quality to our group. Not only this, but Julian plays with great intensity and brings the versatility to play as a midfielder, where he helped Atlanta win an MLS Cup. The winger most recently played for Pumas on loan in Mexico, scoring eight goals in 44 appearances including both legs of the CONCACAF Champions League final earlier this year.

The former Manchester United midfielder is a free agent and has drawn interest from West Ham and Everton.

The New England Revolution have signed Giacomo VIroni from Juventus as a Designated Player, the club announced.

The 23-year-old made two appearances for Juve's first team and featured for the club's U-23 side in Serie C before joining Austrian side WSG TIrol on loan for the 2021-22 campaign.

“I am excited to start this next chapter of my life and career in Boston and Major League Soccer with the New England Revolution,” Vrioni said. “I have seen many talented players come from Europe and thrive in MLS, which is why I believe this is the right time to take this step in my career. Yow completed move to Belgium


D.C. United's Griffin Yow has completed a move to join KVC Westerlo in Belgium, the MLS club confirmed.

The 19-year-old midfielder played 36 games in all competitions for D.C. United after signing as a Homegrown player in 2019.

“We want to thank Griffin for his years of commitment to the club starting as an academy player,” Lucy Rushton, D.C. United General Manager, said.

“He was one of the first Homegrowns to prosper from our Pathway 2 Pro program after getting his foothold in professional soccer by playing important minutes with our USL Championship side, Loudoun United FC. We wish him all the best in the next chapter of his career.”

Everton rival Leeds for USMNT star Adams


Leeds are still looking into a loan deal with RB Leipzig for United States international Tyler Adams, but CBS Sports claims that they face competition for the 23-year-old midfielder.

Everton are also said to be keen, while La Liga side Sevilla may yet join the race for the USMNT star.

Aston Villa's Trezeguet is instead their main target, although little progress has been made in negotiations.

St. Louis FC have signed German youth international Eduard Lowen as a Designated Player, the club confirmed.

Lowen has represented Germany at the U-20, U-21 and U-23 levels and has featured for FC Nuremberg, Hertha Berlin, Augsburg and VfL Bochum during his career.

“We are excited to add a quality player like Eduard to our squad,” said Sporting Director Lutz Pfannenstiel.

“The experience he has already acquired at his age will be crucial for our team and he will bring structure and strategy in the center of our midfield. USMNT fullback Bryan Reynolds is set to sign with Belgian side Weterlo on a season-loan loan from Roma, reports

The deal includes a purchase option of €7 million ($7.3m), with FC Dallas retaining a sell-on percentage.

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan with KV Kortrijk after managing only six apearances for Roma with only one coming since Jose Mourinho took over.

Richards drawing interest from Premier League and La Liga


USMNT defender Chris Richards is drawing interest from Southampton, Crystal Palace and Valencia, reports CBS Sports.

Bayern are prepared to sell the defender, but only for a fee of around $15.8 million (€15 million).

Bayern will also demand a buyback clause as the defender looks set to move on after making 10 senior appearances for the club.

American youngster Llanez set for another loan


American youngster Uly Llanez is set to spend another season on loan with St. Polten, the club confirmed.

Llanez played 27 games for the club last season, scoring six goals while providing five assists while on loan from Wolfsburg.

St. Polten director Jan Schlaudraff said: “Ulysses has proven his value for the team in many games over the past few months and has shown that he has great potential. 

"We are therefore very pleased that he has decided to develop with us for another year and to recommend him for higher tasks."

Horvath's Forest future in doubt


Ethan Horvath's future at Nottingham Forest is in doubt as the club looks to bring in Manchester United's Dean Henderson on loan, GOAL can confirm.

Horvath hinted that he could leave the club while on USMNT duty, saying that his future is undecided.

And he'd almost certainly look to move on if a deal for Henderson is completed as he looks to lock down a more consistent role after serving as a backup primarily during Forest's promotion season.
