Premier League chief executive Richard Masters has revealed Chelsea might have to sell players to balance their books after spending £600million on new signings this season.

"I am not here to defend them. The new owners have owned the club for less than a year, they’ve had two transfer windows. You need to judge the football club after three or four years. They might have bought, they would argue probably they have a different transfer policy to the previous regime - younger players, longer contracts and lower wages.

"Obviously within our rules, it is a test over a 12-month period so the question is whether they are going to sell some of their existing players in the next window. Calciomercato reports the capital club have made contact with the shot stopper's agents ahead of the summer transfer window.

German journalist Christopher Michel reports that Eintracht Frankfurt are in talks with Lyon's Houssem Aouar over a summer move.

The 24-year-old sees his contract expire at the end of the season and is therefore available to begin negotiations over a pre-contract agreement.

Lukaku is currently on loan at Inter and reportedly wants to permanently leave the Blues next summer. While the Belgian himself wants to make a permanent move to the Serie A club, Spurs will try to bring him back to the Premier League as they eye him as a replacement of Harry Kane if he leaves the club.

The Croatian defender, who scored against Manchester City on Wednesday, nearly joined Chelsea last summer. Their inability to sign him as proven a major misstep as his value skyrocketed soon after the World Cup. Now, the Reds are among the teams to pay up and snatch him away from potential lingering interest at Stamford Bridge.
