The former Azzurri manager is on the brink of a move to the Arabian Gulf League outfit.

In the aftermath of a 2-1 defeat to AL Wahda in the President's Cup final, Al Nasr revealed that Cesare Prandelli is set to replace Dan Petrescu as their new manager.

The Romanian tactician led a less than impressive domestic season for the Blue Wave and sees his seven month contract approaching its conclusion.

Prandelli previously managed the Italy national team and guided them to a runner-up finish at the 2012 European Championship.

"We reached an agreement with Prandelli by 95 per cent," Humaid Al Tayer, the Nasr chairman, told Al Ittihad newspaper after the final at Zayed Sports City.

"The coach arrives next week to sign the contract and be presented at a press conference."

The 59-year-old has previously coached Serie A clubs Parma, Roma and Fiorentina and retains a strong reputation in Italian football.

His most recent engagement was with Valencia where he resigned after just 10 matches in charge.

After Walter Zenga, Prandelli could become the second Italian to take charge of Al Nasr.
