Commentary

Thanks for joining the live text commentary for this game. Until next time, goodbye.
City can now look forward to a place in the last 16, which they enter as group winners and will therefore be seeded in the draw. Sevilla, however, are headed for the Europa League after finishing third in Group G.
City come from behind to earn a comprehensive victory over Sevilla. It was the Spanish side who took the lead through Mir in the first half only for second half strikes from Lewis, Alvarez and Mahrez to secure what turned out to be a comfortable win at Etihad Stadium. The result had no effect on Champions League Group G, of course, as everything had already been decided before kick-off.
90' + 3' FULL-TIME: MANCHESTER CITY 3-1 SEVILLA
90' There will be three minutes of additional time at the end of this second half.
87' Lewis finally completes an involuntary lap of honour after being substituted. His fans gave him an excellent reception.
João Cancelo
R. Lewis
85' Cancelo replaces Lewis, who's enjoyed a superb debut.
J. Álvarez
Assist
83' Alvarez did superbly to win the ball back from Carmona before playing in Mahrez.
R. Mahrez
Goal
83' GOAL! City make it 3-1. Alvarez does well to win the ball back from Carmona after the Spaniard is caught dawdling in defence, before unselfishly playing a pass to Mahrez. The Algerian makes no mistake with his finish, a well-taken effort.
80' City look a side in cruise control now.
78' De Bruyne duly whips in the resulting set-piece but Sevilla manage to deal with it.
78' Lewis does well to hold on to the ball out the right side before drawing a foul from Telles. Free kick for City.
76' Mir has a half-chance to get Sevilla back on level terms but the Spaniard snatches at his effort and sees it flash wide.
74' The introduction of De Bruyne certainly had the desired effect.
K. De Bruyne
Assist
73' De Bruyne's pass for Alvarez was inch-perfect.
J. Álvarez
Goal
73' GOAL! City have the lead for the first time this evening. De Bruyne, just on the pitch, arrows a wonderful ball into space to find Alvarez. The Argentine controls the pass well, opens up his body, and makes no mistake with a cool finish past Bono.
72' Sevilla break with intent but Suso decides to come back inside and retain possession rather than risk losing the ball with a more forward pass.
K. De Bruyne
C. Palmer
70' De Bruyne has come on for Palmer to perhaps finish this game off.
J. Wilson-Esbrand
Sergio Gómez
70' Wilson-Esbrand has replaced Gomez at left-back.
68' The volume of changes made by both sides has taken the air out of the game somewhat.
Joan Jordán
I. Rakitić
66' Jordan has replaced Rakitic, who seemed to be tiring slightly in midfield.
64' Sevilla are finding it difficult to beat City's press.
62' Guardiola's changes have made City look dangerous. They're operating on a different frequency in this second half.
60' Mahrez, coming in off the right side, opens up his body before playing a ball into Foden inside the box. Before the Englishman can shoot, however, Rakitic steals in to block the pass and help Sevilla progress the ball up the field.
E. Lamela
Isco
58' Lamela comes on for Isco to inject fresh impetus into Sevilla's attack.
Bernardo Silva
İ. Gündoğan
58' Silva replaces Gundogan to add a little more creativity to midfield.
56' CHANCE! Foden whips in a corner from the left side that Laporte meets mid-air, his header crashing against the crossbar before ending up in a goalmouth scramble. Sevilla eventually manage to clear their lines and avoid the concession of a second goal, however.
54' City earn a free-kick in a promising area but Gundogan's delivery leaves a lot to be desired.
J. Álvarez
Assist
52' Alvarez did well to seize upon the ball and play in Lewis.
R. Lewis
Goal
52' GOAL! Lewis, making his first start for City, levels the score. Sevilla lose the ball in a dangerous area to Alvarez, who plays a smart ball down the right side for Lewis, who times his run to perfection. His finish is well-taken, easily beating Bono.
50' It's early days, but City seem to have really upped the intensity at the beginning of this second half.
48' Telles, just on the pitch, has pulled up with an injury. But it appears he's able to continue and play has resumed.
Suso
P. Gómez
46' Suso has replaced Gomez in a like-for-like change in the final third.
Rodri
J. Grealish
46' Rodri has come on for Grealish in a bid to shore up midfield.
Alex Telles
M. Acuña
46' Telles has replaced Acuna in a straight swap at left-back.
46' We're back underway here at Etihad Stadium.
1' GOAL! City make it 3-1. Alvarez does well to win the ball back from Carmona after the Spaniard is caught dawdling in defence, before unselfishly playing a pass to Mahrez. The Algerian makes no mistake with his finish, a well-taken effort.
The danger for Sevilla, however, lies in the attacking options that Guardiola has sitting on his bench. The longer the second half goes on the more tired the Spanish side's legs will grow - that could be dangerous should Guardiola then turn to the heavy artillery he has waiting in reserve.
Sevilla go into the break a goal to the good. They've defended well against a rotated City side and took the one chance that fell their way when Mir scored a header at the back post following an inch-perfect corner kick from Isco. Neither side have anything to play for materially, but it's undoubtedly Sevilla who'll be the happier of the two so far this evening.
45' + 3' HALF-TIME: MANCHESTER CITY 0-1 SEVILLA
45' + 2' CHANCE! Palmer finds Grealish at the back post with a perfectly-weighted pass. The Englishman controls the ball and drives his effort on goal, but Bono does well to parry it.
N. Gudelj
Marcão
45' + 1' Gudelj has replaced the injured Marcao.
45' There will be two minutes of additional time at the end of this first half.
44' Marcao is down with an injury - it doesn't look like he's going to be able to continue.
42' City put together a nice move that culminates with Lewis whipping in a cross from the right side. There's too much weight on it, however, and it evades everyone in the box.
40' Gomez shoots on goal from a tight angle on the left side after Bono makes a mess of his clearance - but his effort fails to make it through a forest of Sevilla defenders inside the box and the danger is averted by the Spanish side.
38' Mir, bounding down the right flank once again, finds himself in acres of space. But the linesman flags for offside.
36' City haven't panicked since conceding. They're going to continue to play their game.
34' Sevilla's small band of travelling supporters are in a jubilant mood following their goal.
32' City will be unhappy with how they defended that set-piece.
Isco
Assist
31' Isco's delivery from the corner kick was on the money.
Rafa Mir
Goal
31' GOAL! Sevilla take the lead through Mir. Isco floated a corner from the right side to the back post to find Mir, who was free. His header was well-guided past Bono in City's goal.
30' Grealish tries to play through Alvarez into space, only for Marcao to do well by stepping up and intercepting the pass.
28' CHANCE! Gundogan and Foden combine to devastating effect before the former's shot on goal is blocked down by Sevilla. The following corner falls to Mahrez at the edge of the box only for his effort to fly high and wide of the target.
26' Foden and Grealish are working well together down City's left. Sevilla will need to be careful that they don't allow them too much space.
24' Isco and Acuna combine down the left side before the former whips in a cross to the back post. There, he finds Mir, but the Spaniard's rather tame header fails to hit the target.
22' Foden delivers a corner into the box that eventually falls to Lewis at the edge of the box. But his effort flashes wide.
20' CHANCE! Mir, played in again down the right, opens up his body once he finds himself in space before pulling the trigger and shooting on goal. But Ortega gets a hand to it and manages to push it to safety.
19' Grealish does well down the left flank, beating Carmona, before cutting the ball back for Foden at the edge of the box. The Englishman fails to trouble Bono, however.
18' Dias arrows a long ball into the final third to try and find Alvarez, only for Carmona to do well and clear his lines.
16' Foden whips in the set-piece to find Dias in the box, but the Portuguese is unable to direct his effort on goal.
16' Montiel fouls Foden at the edge of the box to concede a free-kick.
14' Rakitic sprays a beautiful ball out wide right to find Mir in space, only for the Spaniard to miscontrol the pass and kill the momentum of the move.
12' Grealish and Alvarez try to combine again down the left flank only for Sevilla to cut the move out.
10' There's a lack of jeopardy about this game. Neither side need to win as their positions are fixed no matter what happens.
8' Sevilla have already made a couple of unforced errors in defence. That's something they're going to need to cut out of their game unless they want to be punished by one of the most ruthless outfits in Europe.
6' A clear pattern has emerged. City are going to dominate possession and territory while Seville will try to pick their moments and break into space.
4' It's a rain-soaked evening in Manchester.
2' CHANCE! Bono gives the ball away to Grealish, who quickly finds Alvarez at the edge of the box. The Argentine then turns and finds the oncoming Palmer, whose shot flies over the bar.
1' A clipped ball from Gomez finds Mir in space, but the Spaniard's ambitious finish from a tight angle flies high and wide.
1' We're underway here at Etihad Stadium.
Guardiola has only lost two of his 13 games against Sevilla as a manager, with his teams averaging 2.5 goals per game against them. His only home defeat against them came in January 2010, with his Barcelona side losing in the Copa del Rey against Manolo Jimenez’s Sevilla.
Sevilla have made six changes from the team that beat Copenhagen. Bono has replaced Dmitrovic in goal, Carmona, Rekik and Acuna have come in for Gudelj, Jordan and Telles in defence, Delaney has replaced Suso in midfield and Mir has come in for Dolberg up front.
City have made five changes from the side that drew with Dortmund. Lewis, Laporte and Gomez have replaced Stones, Ake and Cancelo in defence, Palmer has come in for Rodri in midfield and Grealish has replaced Erling Haaland up front.
SEVILLA SUBS: Marko Dmitrovic, Alberto Flores, Alex Telles, Kasper Dolberg, Nemanja Gudelj, Suso, Joan Jordan, Adnan Januzaj, Jesus Navas, Erik Lamela, Kike Salas, Carlos Alvarez.
SEVILLA (5-4-1): Bono; Gonzalo Montiel, Jose Carmona, Marcao, Karim Rekik, Marcos Acuna; Papu Gomez, Thomas Delaney, Ivan Rakitic, Isco; Rafa Mir.
MANCHESTER CITY SUBS: Ederson, Scott Carson, John Stones, Nathan Ake, Joao Cancelo, Rodri, Kevin de Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Josh Wilson-Esbrand.
MANCHESTER CITY (4-3-3): Stefan Ortega; Rico Lewis, Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte, Sergio Gomez; Phil Foden, Ilkay Gundogan, Cole Palmer; Riyad Mahrez, Julian Alvarez, Jack Grealish.
Sevilla are in a slightly less celebratory spot. The Spanish side are third in Champions League Group G having taken five points from their opening five games and, no matter what happens in the final matchday, that's where they'll be staying. Their head-to-head record is better than fourth-placed Copenhagen and inferior to third-placed Dortmund.
City come into this one sitting at the top of Champions League Group G. They've taken eleven points from their opening five games and have already qualified for the next phase of the competition as group winners due to their superior head-to-head record over Borussia Dortmund. Pep Guardiola's side, however, will be keen to close out the campaign in style.
