Richarlison (9)
Goodison Park

That brings an end to our coverage of the Premier League fixture between Everton and Southampton at Goodison Park. Thank you very much for joining us. Goodbye!
In their pursuit of three consecutive top-flight victories, Everton travel to face West Brom next time out. Southampton, on the other hand, visit Bramall Lane to play Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United.
After an evenly-matched contest, Everton claim all three points against Southampton. The hosts did not take long to break the deadlock, with Richarlison rounding Forster before calmly finding the corner after only nine minutes. Shortly after, VAR denied the Toffees doubling their lead when Keane’s effort was ruled out because of an offside in the build-up against Holgate. The Saints came on strong in the second half, and Pickford made a match-winning save to deny Vestergaard in the closing minutes to secure the points.
90' + 5' Ward-Prowse floats a cross in from the left, which Pickford tamely punches straight to Ings. The attacker latches onto the ball and wins a corner off Allan, although the set-piece comes to nothing.
90' + 3' There is going to be a brief stoppage in play as Djenepo is down and in need of treatment after colliding with Calvert-Lewin.
J. King
90' + 1' With a few minutes left to play, King enters the fray in place of the goalscorer, Richarlison.
90' There will be three added minutes at the end of this match.
90' WHAT A SAVE! Everton fail to deal with a corner from the left, and, after numerous deflections, the ball falls to Vestergaard a few yards out. The defender stretches to turn a left-footed effort towards goal, and Pickford makes himself big to deny the Danish defender from close range.
C. Watts
N. Redmond
88' Hasenhuttl turns to his bench for the final time, replacing Redmond with Watts.
A. Iwobi
André Gomes
87' The home side make their first change of the game with Iwobi coming on for Gomes.
86' The loose ball ricochets around in the Saints penalty area and Richarlison shapes to shoot. Redmond, however, spots the danger and hooks it away for a throw-in.
84' WIDE! The Toffees are penned in their own half at present as the Saints look for an equaliser. Armstrong plays a quick one-two with Tella before switching it over to the right for Djenepo. The winger opens up his body and fires a right-footed shot wide of the far post from the edge of the box.
82' The visitors are beginning to apply some pressure now. Djenepo looks to run at Digne and wins a corner to the right off the Frenchman. The out-swinging delivery is headed away by Keane.
N. Tella
Yellow Card
80' Tella is shown a yellow card for a late tackle on Digne in the centre of the park. The referee was well placed to see the foul.
79' Southampton are enjoying a good spell of possession at present, but are still struggling to find a way through Everton’s resolute defensive unit.
D. N'Lundulu
C. Adams
77' The Saints make their second alteration with 13 minutes of normal time left to play. Adams makes way for Nlundulu.
S. Armstrong
Yellow Card
77' Armstrong picks up the first yellow card of the match after cynically sliding in on Calvert-Lewin down the right flank. He can have no complaints with that decision.
75' Following a corner from the left, the ball drops to Tella on the edge of the box, although Doucoure is alert to the danger and comes out to block the strike.
74' Gomes catches Adams down the left-hand side of the field and the visitors are awarded a free-kick deep inside their own half.
72' Redmond looks to curl an effort into the top-right corner from the left side of the box, but his strike sails wide of the far post.
71' Southampton have won their last two Premier League Monday games, winning 2-1 at Brighton and 1-0 against Liverpool this season. They last won three consecutive top-flight Monday games in April 1992, with the second game in that run being a 1-0 victory against Liverpool.
69' Djenepo looks to drive at Digne and is cynically brought down by the Frenchman. Ward-Prowse takes the following set-piece, which Keane heads away under no pressure in the middle of the penalty area.
67' The game is beginning to get a little scrappy now following a succession of needless fouls. Holgate this time brings down Tella on the halfway line.
65' Bertrand is a little too eager to regain possession from Holgate in an advanced position down the right flank and concedes a free-kick. Sigurdsson’s delivery is nodded out for a corner by Vestergaard.
N. Tella
M. Salisu
63' Southampton make their first change of the match as Salisu makes way for Tella. It remains 1-0.
62' GOOD EFFORT! Salisu peels away from his marker to meet Ward-Prowse's near-post corner, but he is unable to keep his header down.
60' JUST WIDE! From another free-kick down the left-hand side of the field, Digne’s in-swinging delivery is met by Keane in the centre of the box, although his header just fizzes wide of the far post.
58' GREAT CHANCE! The resulting set-piece is swung in towards the back post, and Keane meets it to nod it back across goal. Calvert-Lewin just misses the headed pass, and the ball drops to Godfrey, who sees his close-range effort turned behind for a corner by Vestergaard.
57' There is going to be a brief stoppage in play as Richarlison is down following a collision with Djenepo, who escapes a booking. The Brazilian is now back to his feet and Everton have a free-kick midway inside the Saints half.
56' Vestergaard puts the ball behind for a corner, and Sigurdsson goes over to the left to take it. His delivery, however, is nodded to safety by Salisu.
54' The Saints are seeing plenty of the ball in the opening phases of the second half, but there is a real lack of penetration. Bednarek goes long looking for Ings, but Godfrey reads it well and intercepts the pass.
52' Since his Premier League debut in January 2012, Sigurdsson has provided 48 top-flight assists, the seventh-best haul in that time.
50' Djenepo goes down after being caught by Digne, and Ward-Prowse's free-kick from the right is easily dealt with.
49' The Icelandic midfielder looks to curl his strike beyond Forster, but his effort deflects off the wall and behind for a corner. Calvert-Lewin fouls Forster after the set-piece is taken, and the Saints get the decision.
47' Calvert-Lewin picks up the loose ball in the centre of the park and runs at the Saints defence, before winning a free-kick on the edge of the box from Armstrong. Sigurdsson is standing over it.
46' We are back underway! Atkinson, the referee, blows his whistle and Everton get the second half kicked off.
Ancelotti will be pleased with his team's first-half display and will be hoping for much of the same after the restart. Vestergaard and Salisu have struggled to deal with Calvert-Lewin, who has tirelessly ran the channels so far. Hasenhuttl, on the other hand, needs more creativity from the Saints in the second half. Despite often getting into advanced positions, the final pass has too often let the visitors down.
Following a tightly-contested opening half, Everton take a one-goal lead in at the break. Although the visitors started the brighter of the two teams, the Toffees broke the deadlock after nine minutes when Richarlison calmly rounded Forster before finding the bottom-right corner after being found by Sigurdsson. Ancelotti’s side had the ball in the back of net again 17 minutes later, but VAR ruled out Keane’s effort for offside against Holgate in the build-up.
45' There will be two added minutes at the end of this half.
43' Southampton are attacking in numbers whenever the opportunity arises, but they’ve lacked a cutting edge thus far and the hosts are standing firm defensively.
41' Armstrong attempts to send the ball the left flank, although his flighted pass sails out for a throw-in down the far side.
40' Ancelotti’s team are just trying to slow things down a little now with half-time approaching. Allan is seeing plenty of the ball in the centre of the park.
38' Some neat one-touch play opens up the space in the middle of the field for Armstrong, who switches it over to the left for Bertrand. After taking a touch to set himself, the full-back sends a low cross into the box, which Doucoure easily hooks away.
36' CHANCE! Following a set piece from the right after a foul from Vestergaard on Sigurdsson, the Icelandic midfielder whips an in-swinging delivery into the centre of the box. Richarlison is first to meet it, but his right-footed effort goes wide of the far post.
34' Holgate tries to pick out Calvert-Lewin with a long, searching pass from deep. His lofted throughball, however, is overhit and runs through for Forster.
33' Since the start of last season, Joao Pedro (30) and Neymar (19) are the only Brazilians to score more in Europe's top five leagues than Richarlison (18).
31' Calvert-Lewin pulls Bertrand to the ground and the Saints win a free-kick well inside their own half.
29' CLOSE! Everton fail to clear the set-piece, and Djenepo drives into the box down the right. The winger’s cross ricochets off Salisu and drops kindly for Pickford. That could have gone anywhere.
28' After winning a free-kick in an advanced position down the left, Ward-Prowse whips an inviting ball into the near post, which Calvert-Lewin steers out for a corner.
26' NO GOAL! Digne floats the free-kick in towards the far post for Holgate, who knocks it back across the box for Keane, and he steers home from close range. After consulting VAR, the goal is ruled out for offside against Holgate.
24' Redmond catches Holgate’s ankles a few yards outside of the Saints penalty area, and Everton are awarded a free-kick. Sigurdsson is standing over it.
23' Digne looks to lay the ball back to Pickford, and the England goalkeeper is forced to sprint off his line to latch onto the pass with Ings applying the pressure.
21' Digne finds a yard of space down the left to whip a cross into the box, and Vestergaard is well placed to turn it to safety.
20' Gomes looks for Calvert-Lewin with a left-footed throughball, but the striker mistimes his run and the referee’s assistant flags for offside.
19' Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side almost capitalise on a risky back pass from Richarlison to Holgate, but Ings is just unable to bring the flighted pass down.
17' Ings looks to make things happen himself as he drives through the middle and at the heart of the Everton defence. Following a one-two with Armstrong, the striker sees his cross hooked behind for a corner by Keane. The resulting-set piece drops to Redmond on the edge of the box, but his wild effort sails over the bar.
15' Sigurdsson whips in the resulting set-piece, and Richarlison’s diving header is clawed away by Forster, although the flag is raised for offside.
14' Holgate fires a pass into Sigurdsson, who steers a first-time ball down the right for Calvert-Lewin. The striker is caught by Salisu’s high boot, and the Toffees win a free-kick in a dangerous position.
12' Redmond is caught by Holgate deep in his own half and the away side are awarded a free-kick.
11' Following that goal, Richarlison has scored in three consecutive Premier League games for Everton for the first time since December 2019.
G. Sigurðsson
9' Calvert-Lewin occupied a number of Southampton defenders when challenging for an aerial ball, which allowed Richarlison to drift into space. Sigurdsson showed quick-thinking to pick out the attacker, who made no mistake with the finish.
9' GOAL! Everton take an early lead! After the Saints fail to deal with a long ball, it drops to Sigurdsson, who slides a well-weighted throughball in behind the visitors’ defence for Richarlison. The Brazilian rounds the onrushing Forster and fires the ball into the bottom-right corner from close range. 1-0.
7' Ward-Prowse whips a corner in from the left which Calvert-Lewin rises to head clear in the centre of the box.
6' Richarlison slides the ball in field for Doucoure, who looks to set Calvert-Lewin away in the Saints penalty area. Forster is alert to the danger and is quickly off his line to claim the pass.
4' Calvert-Lewin gets played in down the right by Doucoure, although he had just made his run a fraction too early and the flag goes up for offside.
3' The away side have started brightly and are seeing more of the ball in the opening exchanges. Ings switches the play over to the left for Bertrand, who opts to slow things down.
1' Kick off! The referee, Martin Atkinson, blows his whistle and Southampton get the game underway.
The teams are out, and kick-off will soon be upon us here at Goodison Park.
Everton are unbeaten in their last 15 home Premier League games against Southampton (W10 D5), losing 2-0 under Howard Kendall in the 1997-98 campaign.
Heading into this match, Ancelotti’s side have won just one of their last six home matches, and are currently without a win in five games at Goodison Park. Not only that, but the Blues have failed to keep a clean at home since they faced Chelsea on December 12th. The Toffees currently sit seventh in the Premier League table, five points off fourth-placed West Ham. Southampton, on the other hand, have just one win in their last 12 matches, and have not picked up a single point on the road in each of their last four away fixtures. Should the Saints defeat their hosts, they’ll move to 33 points and level with 13th-placed Crystal Palace.
Following Everton’s away win at Anfield last time out, Carlo Ancelotti makes three changes to his starting side. Allan, Sigurdsson and Calvert-Lewin return to the team in place of Seamus Coleman, Tom Davies and James Rodriguez. This is Allan’s first start since Everton’s two-goal victory against Leicester back in December. The visitors also make three alterations for this fixture, with Forster, Djenepo and Ings replacing McCarthy, Oriel Romeu and Tella. In starting against Everton, Bednarek and Ward-Prowse are the only two Southampton players to have appeared in all of the Saints’ Premier League matches.
SOUTHAMPTON SUBS: Alex McCarthy, Kayne Ramsey, Jack Stephens, Kgagelo Chauke, Alexandre Jankewitz, Caleb Watts, Will Ferry, Nathan Tella, Daniel N'Lundulu.
EVERTON SUBS: Joao Virginia, Kyle John, Ryan Astley, Niels Nkounkou, Tyler Onyango, Alex Iwobi, Bernard, Nathan Broadhead, Joshua King.
SOUTHAMPTON (4-4-2): Fraser Forster; Mohammed Salisu, Jan Bednarek, Jannik Vestergaard, Ryan Bertrand; Moussa Djenepo, Stuart Armstrong, James Ward-Prowse, Nathan Redmond; Danny Ings, Che Adams.
EVERTON (4-3-1-2): Jordan Pickford; Ben Godfrey, Michael Keane, Mason Holgate, Lucas Digne; Abdoulaye Doucoure, Allan, Andre Gomes; Gylfi Sigurdsson; Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The hosts come into this clash looking to make it back-to-back victories following their 2-0 win at Anfield against Liverpool last time out. Southampton, on the other hand, are seeking a response after losing 3-0 against Leeds in their previous top-flight match.
