Thanks for joining our commentary this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye.
Bochum are next in action against Freiburg next Friday on the road in the Bundesliga. Next up for Bayern is a home match against Borussia Monchengladbach next Saturday.
Bayern Munich continue their outstanding start to the season with a 7-0 hammering of Bochum in their Bundesliga clash. Leroy Sane opened the scoring with a stunner into the top-right corner and from that point onwards Bayern were dominant. Matthijs de Ligt, Kingsley Coman and Sadio Mane found the net in the first half to leave them 4-0 ahead at the break. Mane added his second from the penalty spot before Cristian Gamboa scored an own goal. Serge Gnabry then rounded off the scoring with a clinical finish, securing an emphatic victory for the visitors.
88' Mazraoui is caught offside in the final third as he latches on to a throughball from Coman. Bayern are not satisfied with seven goals here.
86' Masovic rises in the box to connect with a cross from Holtmann, but he places his header narrowly wide of the target.
V. Lampropoulos
S. Zoller
85' Lampropoulos replaces Zoller for the closing stages of the contest.
E. Mašović
I. Ordets
85' Masovic comes on to the field to replace Ordets for the closing stages.
84' CLOSE! Holtmann has offered a threat for the home side since entering the field. He comes inches away from getting a consolation with a run down the left flank and a low strike at goal that is heading into the bottom-right corner before Neuer gets a fingertip to it and turns it wide.
83' WIDE! Gravenberch collects a pass from Kimmich and gets the ball out of his feet quickly to shoot. However, his effort is deflected inches wide of the left post with Riemann beaten.
82' Gnabry turns in the inside-left channel and fires a low ball across the face of goal, but there's no white shirt there to convert the opening.
79' Gnabry runs back up the other end of the field and goes for a drive, but this time his effort is straight at Riemann.
78' OFF THE POST! It is not Bochum's day as Zoller hits the left post from close range. Osei-Tutu bursts down the left flank and cuts a low ball back to Zoller, and he fends off a challenge before firing at goal, only to strike the post.
G. Vidović
Bayern München
76' Vidovic releases the run of Gnabry down the right flank before the forward does the rest with a precise strike.
S. Gnabry
Bayern München
76' WHAT A FINISH BY GNABRY!!!! 7-0 BAYERN!!!!!! The visitors continue to pour on the agony for Bochum as Gnabry blasts a low strike into the back of the net. Gnabry is played into space down the inside-right channel by Vidovic and he has enough time and space to rifle a shot across Riemann and into the back of the net with the aid of the left post.
75' Ordets rises highest in the box to connect with a cross from Stoger from the left flank, but he heads wide of the target.
73' WIDE! Stoger turns and drills a low effort towards goal from the edge of the box, but it just travels wide of the post with Neuer beaten to his right.
G. Vidović
S. Mané
Bayern München
72' Mane makes way after scoring twice today and is replaced by Vidovic.
71' SAVE! Holtmann comes close to a consolation goal as he collects an offload from Stoger and fires at goal with pace. The ball soars towards the top-left corner, but Neuer is alert to turn it over the bar.
J. Osei-Tutu
S. Janko
70' Osei-Tutu replaces Janko for the hosts down the left flank.
C. Gamboa
Own Goal
69' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!! GAMBOA SCORES AN OWN GOAL!!!!! 6-0 BAYERN!!! The visitors make it six as Gamboa compounds a bad outing with an own goal. Kimmich slides a throughball for Sane into the final third, forcing Gamboa to stick out a leg to attempt to divert it away from the winger. However, his clearance wrong-foots Riemann as he comes off his line and trickles into the bottom-right corner.
G. Holtmann
T. Asano
68' Asano makes way in the final third for the hosts for Holtmann.
J. Góralski
P. Förster

J. Stanišić
L. Hernández
Bayern München
62' Hernandez is withdrawn for the visitors and is replaced by Stanisic.
R. Gravenberch
M. Sabitzer
Bayern München
62' Gravenberch replaces Sabitzer in the middle of the park for Bayern.
S. Mané
Penalty Goal
Bayern München
60' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!! MANE DISPATCHES HIS PENALTY!!!!!! 5-0 BAYERN!!!! Mane notches his second of the game with a cool penalty. He fires low and hard on his right foot and finds the bottom-left corner, sending Riemann the wrong way.
58' PENALTY TO BAYERN! Janko brings down Coman with a loose challenge in the box and the referee points to the spot. Janko is fortunate to remain on the field.
57' SAVE! Sane almost makes it five as he latches on to a deflection, but Riemann manages to get enough on his strike with his legs to deny the winger.
56' WIDE! Coman turns and runs with pace at the Bochum defence. He opens up room for a strike, but his effort just whistles past the left post.
54' Stoger probes forward and tries to lift a pass through to Zoller, but Upamecano reads the danger and guides it back to Neuer.
52' CHANCE! Sane is played into space by Muller down the left flank and he goes for the cutback to Kimmich. The midfielder has the goal gaping, but he lifts his effort over the top.
49' Bayern are unbeaten in their last 69 Bundesliga matches when leading at half-time (W67, D2) dating back to 2nd February 2019 against Bayer Leverkusen (L1-3).
S. Janko
Yellow Card
47' Janko pulls back Coman to prevent him latching on to a ball over the top, and goes into the book.
47' Kimmich swings a cross into the box from the right flank, but Heintz is on hand to steer the ball behind for a corner.
46' We're back under way in this Bundesliga clash.
Julian Nagelsmann will be thrilled with his side's performance. They've been afforded space and time in the final third and have exploited it to great effect. Bochum are battling to keep the score respectable in the second half, although it looks beyond them at the back.
Bayern have dominated Bochum in the first half and hold a 4-0 lead at the break in their Bundesliga clash. Leroy Sane broke the deadlock with a stunning strike into the top-right corner and it was all one-way traffic from there. Matthijs de Ligt opened his Bayern account with a header from a corner following a mistake by Manuel Riemann before Kingsley Coman capitalised on another error at the back from the hosts to slam a shot on the rebound. Sadio Mane then notched a fourth with a clinical finish.
45' + 1' Muller connects on the half-volley from Mane's offload and places his effort inches wide of the left post. Mane was offside anyway so it would not have counted, but Bayern look like scoring with every attack.
45' There will be two minutes of added time.
43' CLOSE! Mane closes down Riemann at the back and almost scores with the deflection, but the ball trickles just wide of the right post.
K. Coman
Bayern München
42' Coman sees the space for Mane and releases the forward with a fine pass, allowing him to finish with deadly accuracy.
S. Mané
Bayern München
42' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!! MANE SCORES THIS TIME!!!!! 4-0 BAYERN!!!! Bochum are all over the place as Mane gets on the scoresheet with a clinical finish. Coman releases Mane through on goal down the inside-right channel. He cuts back to open up room for a left-footed strike and he finds the bottom-right corner with deadly precision.
41' VAR! DISALLOWED GOAL! Mane believes that he has put Bayern 4-0 ahead by bundling the ball home after Coman hits the post with a header. However, VAR sees that he uses his hand inadvertently over the line and the referee disallows the goal.
38' SAVE! Asano cuts inside from the right flank and he lines up a left-footed blast from the edge of the box, but Neuer does well to get across to his left to make the stop.
35' Bochum have been very naive at the back this afternoon. Sane's strike was unstoppable, although he did have acres of space to pick his spot. The other two goals have been defensive mistakes, which against Bayern is unforgivable.
K. Coman
Bayern München
33' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!! COMAN MAKES IT THREE!!!! Bayern are in complete control now as Coman is on the spot to score on the rebound. Gamboa gets a header back to Riemann all wrong and Muller pounces to steer a strike towards goal. Riemann makes an excellent stop, but the ball falls kindly for Coman to react and fire low into the bottom-right corner.
32' CHANCE! Hofmann rises in the box to connect with a cross from Asano from the right flank. However, he directs his header straight at Neuer, who makes a routine save.
30' Sane causes havoc down the left flank and he looks for Mane in the middle with his cutback. Only a good covering challenge from Losilla prevents the forward from latching onto the ball.
29' SAVE! Mane finds space in the final third and with little support he opts to pull the trigger. He connects well with his effort, but sees his effort saved by Riemann.
27' The home side have a mountain to climb now. Bayern have not been outstanding, but are in complete control of the contest now.
J. Kimmich
Bayern München
25' Kimmich floats a cross from a corner deep to the back post, allowing De Ligt to capitalise on the mistake by Riemann to score.
M. de Ligt
Bayern München
25' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!! DE LIGT HEADS HOME!!!!! 2-0 BAYERN!!!!!!! De Ligt nods in his first Bayern goal following a mistake by Riemann. The Bochum keeper attempts to punch a deep corner to the back post from Kimmich away from danger, but he fails to connect. De Ligt rises behind him and heads into an empty net to register his first Bayern goal.
23' OVER! Space opens up for Losilla to line up a blast from the edge of the box for the home side, only to launch his attempt over the bar.
22' Stoger attempts to lift a cross into the box for Gamboa to attack, but the defender is caught offside in the Bayern box.
19' Sane bursts into the box down the inside-left channel and has Coman in support. However, he goes for the blast on his own and rifles his effort over the top.
16' Bayern find space in the final third with ease, but on this occasion Muller sees his effort charged down by Heintz.
15' Neuer misplaces an offload straight to Asano, but he cannot bring the loose ball under control to tee up Zoller free in the middle.
13' Zoller is played into space on the counter and he charges into the inside-left channel. He tries to beat Neuer at his near post, but the keeper makes a comfortable stop.
12' After not starting the opening two matches of the season, Sane has produced an excellent opening burst for Bayern.
11' WIDE! Janko fails to clear the danger from Hernandez's cross and Muller nods the ball into the path of Pavard. The France international shoots first-time, but he guides his attempt narrowly wide of the target.
10' WHAT A SAVE! Coman breaks forward and feeds Sane again in space. He launches a left-footed blast towards the bottom-left corner, forcing Riemann into a brilliant stop to turn it past the post.
7' BLOCK! Zoller is played into space in the Bayern box and has to shoot first-time on the half-volley. De Ligt has to get across to divert his effort behind for a corner.
6' Bayern have avoided defeat in their last 10 matches when scoring the opening goal in the Bundesliga dating back to 26th February 2022 against Eintracht Frankfurt.
K. Coman
Bayern München
4' Coman works a short offload to Sane on the edge of the box and the winger does the rest with a sublime strike.
L. Sané
Bayern München
4' WHAT A GOAL!!!! SANE SCORES A STUNNER!!!! 1-0 BAYERN!!!! Sane wraps his boot around a right-footed strike and finds the top-right corner with a stunner. The winger combines with Coman on the edge of the Bochum box and is afforded space and time to fire past Riemann. A super start for the visitors.
2' Sabitzer brings down Stoger with a poor challenge and hands Bochum a free-kick inside the Bayern half. Stoger lifts a cross into the box, but Upamecano rises to clear the danger.
1' We're under way at the Vonovia Ruhrstadion.
VfL Bochum beat FC Bayern 4-2 at home the last time these sides met in the Bundesliga, their first win in this fixture since February 2004. They have never won two consecutive games against the record champions in the top-flight, and have only beaten them twice in a row at home in 1974 and 1975. They last went unbeaten in back-to-back games against the Bavarians in the Bundesliga in 1998 (D2).
Bayern have been forced into three changes from their win over Wolfsburg. Alphonso Davies misses out at the back and is replaced by Hernandez. Upamecano and De Ligt are not 100% fit, but start for Bayern in defence. Jamal Musiala is out for the visitors and is replaced by Sane, while Coman replaces Gnabry, who drops to the bench.
Bochum have made only one change to their side from their defeat against Hoffenheim. Forster comes into the side in the middle of the park to replace Osei-Tutu, who drops to the bench. Hofmann and Zoller are expected to lead the line in the final third.
BAYERN SUBS: Serge Gnabry, Paul Wanner, Bouna Sarr, Sven Ulreich, Gabriel Vidovic, Ryan Gravenberch, Mathys Tel, Noussair Mazraoui, Josip Stanisic.
BAYERN (4-4-2): Manuel Neuer; Benjamin Pavard, Dayot Upamecano, Matthijs de Ligt, Lucas Hernandez; Kingsley Coman, Joshua Kimmich, Marcel Sabitzer, Leroy Sane; Sadio Mane, Thomas Muller.
BOCHUM SUBS: Erhan Masovic, Jacek Goralski, Tim Oermann, Gerrit Holtmann, Jordi Osei-Tutu, Michael Esser, Vasilios Lampropoulos, Mohammed Tolba, Tarsis Bonga.
BOCHUM (4-4-2): Manuel Riemann; Cristian Gamboa, Ivan Ordets, Dominique Heintz, Saidy Janko; Takuma Asano, Kevin Stoger, Anthony Losilla, Philipp Forster; Simon Zoller, Philipp Hofmann.
Bayern have started the season with a 100% record in their first two matches. Julian Nagelsmann's side hammered Eintracht Frankfurt in their opener on the road with a stellar performance in a 6-1 win. The Bavarian-based outfit followed that performance with a clinical outing against Wolfsburg as goals from Jamal Musiala and Thomas Muller secured a 2-0 victory. Bayern have lost none of their edge in the final third so far without the presence of Robert Lewandowski.
Bochum have made a losing start to their Bundesliga campaign, suffering defeats in their opening two matches. Mainz inflicted a 2-1 defeat on Thomas Reis' men in their home opener, while Bochum went down 3-2 to Hoffenheim in their last outing. Simon Zoller had put them 2-0 ahead with two strikes inside13th minute, but Hoffenheim mounted a comeback to snatch the victory. Bochum have to be flawless to avoid defeat today to a rampant Bayern outfit.
