Tunisia started their 2022 World Cup campaign with an impressive 0-0 draw against Denmark on Tuesday at the Education City Stadium.
Having won just two matches in their previous five World Cups, the Carthage Eagles were trying to get three points to progress out of the group. However, it was not the case as they failed to capitalise on chances created.
Goalkeeper Aymen Dahmen underlined his worth for the team, having made his debut in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ellyes Skhiri also starred as the North African nation secured a point.
The 25-year-old CS Sfaxien custodian made several saves to keep Tunisia in the game. For instance, in the 68th minute, he denied Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen who was keen to hit the target with his curling effort from 20 yards.
The right wing-back gave his best in both defence and attack. Kept Joakim Maehle in check and even made two attempts.
Talbi was cautious at the back although clearing what came his way. He, however, struggled to mark Skov Olsen and was lucky not to be punished.
The Salernitana defender was the busiest of the three centre-backs. He bailed his teammates out twice and completed 80% of his passes. Bronn made one attempt at goal and played a crucial role in helping Tunisia earn a point.
The Esperance defender was arguably the second-best defender in the Tunisia side. Won most aerial duels and just like Bronn, he made an attempt on the other end.
Struggled earlier on but as the game progressed, he grew in confidence and ensured his side marked well. Made one key pass and had a shot on target.
The FC Koln player underlined his importance in the Tunisia midfield, ensuring Eriksen did not have room to hurt the defence with his creative passes. He also had two shots with one on target, and completed 91% of his passes.
As expected, he brought calmness in midfield and complimented Skhiri well. Had one attempt and was subbed in the 87th minute.
Showed flashes of brilliance earlier on, making three passes and having two attempts, but his influence decreased in the second half which forced the technical bench to sub him.
On a different day, the attacker would have easily grabbed a brace. Denied by the goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation and generally had three attempts with two of them on target. Subbed with 10 minutes to go.
Justified his inclusion in the team with decent runs managing three shots and one on target. However, he could have done better especially in the first half.
Was introduced with 10 minutes to go and apart from one key pass, he did not have much time to help the team offensively.
He was meant to help in the attack but he did not get the privilege as Denmark intensified their attacks later on.
Was introduced in the 87th minute, had little time to make an impact.
Just like Sassi, he had little time to make his mark.
The Manchester United midfielder was introduced in the 79th minute and helped in clearing the danger at the back.
