GOAL looks at the players who are said to have attracted interest from the two Soweto giants in the last few weeks.

The current season has seen the Chiefs academy product rise to become one of the top defenders in the PSL and also become the new Stellenbosch FC captain.

Zwinika (formerly known as Zitha Macheke)'s exploits have reportedly caught the attention of his former club, Chiefs and the Glamour Boys are believed to have added him to their transfer wish list.

The 28-year-old centre back has stated that he is open to returning to the Naturena-based giants having left the club without making a single appearance for the first team.

  • Pape Ousmane Sakho, Simba, April 2022

The Senegalese dribbling wizard's sparkling performances for Simba in this season's Caf Confederation Cup are said to have caught the eye of the Pirates scouts.

Having netted twice in seven Confederation Cup games, Sakho tormented the Bucs defence during their quarter-final first-leg clash last weekend in what is his debut season with the Tanzanian champions.

It is unclear whether the ambitious side would agree to sell the 25-year-old winger to an African rival having only signed him from Senegal's Teungueth in August last year.

  • Lehlohonolo Matlou, Swallows FC, April 2022

    Lehlohonolo Matlou

The former South Africa under-20 international has been one of the few Swallows FC players who have impressed in the current season.

A skilful attacking midfielder blessed with immaculate passing ability, Matlou, 23, has made 20 appearances across all competitions in his debut term with Amaswaiswai.

The good working relationship that exists between Swallows and Chiefs could reportedly see the former Sanjoanense star join a long list of players who have moved between the two clubs in the last few seasons.

  • Pule Mmodi, Golden Arrows, February 2022

The hard-running winger has emerged to become one of the most dangerous attackers in the PSL and an influential player for Lamontville Golden Arrows.

Mmodi has netted four goals in the league this term and has been handed several Bafana Bafana call ups by national team head coach Hugo Broos.

Having gained a reputation as a selling club, Arrows are reportedly ready to sell the 29-year-old if they get the right offer this winter having sold Ntsako Makhubela to Pirates in August last year.
