    Preview of Nigerians in Europe

Alex Iwobi and his Everton colleagues face off with Liverpool in the 240th Merseyside Derby hoping to avoid their rivals doing the double over them.

Elsewhere, Emmanuel Dennis ended an extended goal drought in last week’s 2-1 defeat by Brentford and he looks to score in back to back games against Manchester City.

  • Kelechi Iheanacho

    Iheanacho and Lookman

The Leicester City pair are expected to play in varying capacities when the Foxes play host to Aston Villa on Saturday.

With Brendan Rodgers likely to pick his side with an eye on next week’s Europa Conference League semi-final first-leg clash against Roma, it remains to be seen if Kelechi Iheanacho and Ademola Lookman feature from the off.

Leicester have little to play for in the league, but Rodgers will not want to face Jose Mourinho’s team on the back of a defeat.

  • Emmanuel Dennis of Nigeria and Watford.

    Emmanuel Dennis

Dennis netted a quite good goal against Brentford, although a late goal for the Bees handed Watford their 22nd loss of the season, no side has higher in 2021/22.

The Hornets’ top scorer seeks back-to-back goals for the first time since October, but the quality of this weekend’s opposition in Manchester City means it is an uphill task.

Will Dennis stun Pep Guardiola’s men and throw a spanner in the works of their title hunt?

  • Alex Iwobi of Everton

The Super Eagle has completed five Premier League games in succession under Frank Lampard and is expected to continue in midfield when Everton travel to Liverpool.

No side in this derby has done the double over the other since the Reds in the 2016/17 season, but the Toffees face a daunting task in preventing two losses this term against their city rivals.

Following Burnley’s win over Southampton on Thursday, Lampard’s men are a point ahead of the Clarets and could drop into the bottom three this weekend if they lose at Anfield and the 18th-placed outfit win defeat Wolverhampton Wanderers.

  • Nigeria Taiwo Awoniyi and Union Berlin.

    Taiwo Awoniyi

Awoniyi’s 13 Bundesliga strikes mean he is now Union Berlin’s record scorer in the top flight.

With eight game-opening goals, the striker sits joint-top alongside Anthony Modeste and Robert Lewandowski.

Union travel to in-form RB Leipzig looking to end the nine-match unbeaten run of the Saxony outfit.

The Berlin outfit have won the last three in the Bundesliga and could make it four on the trot against the Europa League semi-finalists.

  • Victor Osimhen Napoli

    Victor Osimhen

Napoli and their top frontman had yet another underwhelming result in Naples last time out, drawing 1-1 with Roma on Monday.

Osimhen and his teammates travel to Empoli this weekend seeking a return to winning ways, with the Nigerian’s next strike taking him to 13 Serie A strikes this term.

Napoli are four points back of leaders AC Milan and need to claim wins for the next four matches and hope other results fall their way in the league’s denouement.
