Mikel Arteta joined Arsenal on August 31, 2011 on a four-year deal for a transfer fee of £10 million from Everton. He made his debut just a few days later on September 10, 2011 against Swansea at the Emirates Stadium.
Along with him, German defender Per Mertesacker also played his first game for Arsenal on that day. Arsenal won the match 1-0 after Swansea goalkeeper Michel Vorm's misplaced clearance fell for Andrey Arshavin and the Russian made no mistake to slot the ball home.
Meanwhile, Arteta shone brightly in midfield with his surging runs and varied passing ability. He set up Aaron Ramsey within two minutes, but the latter could not keep his shot on target. However, he was pleased to get the three points on his debut.
"It was important to get the three points and we've done it. It was important to forget about what happened two weeks ago [the 8-2 defeat against Manchester United]. It's been good. We had the chances early on to get the game in our hands and we didn't take them and then it was a bit harder. It wasn't easy but I'm glad for the debut and glad for the three points," he stated after the match.
The Polish goalkeeper joined the youth ranks of Arsenal in 2006. He made his debut in a Football League Cup third round match against West Brom in a 2-0 home win. He made a couple of important saves in that match, first to deny Danny Graham from close range and then again later in the match with a low reaction stop.
Szczesny left Arsenal permanently in 2017 after spending a couple of seasons on loan at Roma. Thereafter, he joined Juventus and continues to play in Turin.
The French full-back joined Arsenal from Auxerre 2007 and played until 2014. He later joined Manchester City where he spent three seasons. Sagna last played for MLS side Montreal Impact before retiring from professional football in 2019.
The German centre-back settled in quickly in his new surroundings and appeared for every single Premier League match in his first month as an Arsenal player. He retired from professional football as an Arsenal player in 2018 and then remained at the club as Head of Academy. He continues to hold the position to date.
The French defender joined Arsenal in 2010 and made his debut in a pre-season friendly against Barnet. He spent a decade at Arsenal before moving to Bordeaux in 2019. On March 26, 2022 he announced his retirement from football.

During his stint with the Gunners, he had spent one season on loan at Norwich City (2008). After leaving Arsenal, he spent four seasons at West Bromwich Albion. In 2021, he joined David Beckham-owned MLS club Inter Miami.
The midfielder joined Arsenal in 2008 from Cardiff City. He spent his best years at the north-London club winning the FA Cup thrice and the Community Shield twice. In the winter transfer window of 2019, he joined Juventus from Arsenal. Currently, he is playing on loan at Rangers FC in Scotland.
The Ghanaian is a product of the Arsenal academy as he joined them at the age of nine. He made his Premier League debut for Arsenal against Newcastle United on 13 August 2011, when he was introduced as a second-half substitute for Tomáš Rosický. However, his career at Arsenal failed to gain wind and after a series of loan spells, he left the club in 2014. In 2017, he joined Cyprus club Ermis Aradippou, which turned out to be his last professional club as he retired from football in 2019. In an interview with Sport24 in 2021, he shared that he wants to become an adult entertainer.
Theo Walcott joined Arsenal in 2006 and spent over a decade at the Emirates. He made 398 appearances for the Gunners and scored 108 goals in this period. In 2018, he left the club and joined Everton. He is currently playing for Southampton in the Premier League.
Arshavin joined the Gunners in 2009 and spent five seasons at the club. He had moved to Zenit Saint Petersburg in 2012 and made his move permanent in 2013. He later played for Russian side Kuban Krasnodar and then joined Kazakhstani side Kairat from where he retired in 2018.
The star player joined Arsenal in 2004 and spent nine seasons at the club. He left ARsenal to join Manchester United in 2012 much to the ire of the Gooners. He retired from professional football in 2019. After retirement, he currently works as a strikers' coach at Feyenoord.
