Supporters across the world have been left dissapointed after Senegal forward Sadio Mane was ruled out of the 2022 Fifa World Cup.
The 30-year-old picked an injury during Bayern Munich's 6-1 thrashing of Werder Bremen and he was withdrawn at Allianz Arena. However, Senegal coach Aliou Cisse went ahead to name the fomer Liverpool player in the squad for the World Cup.
On Thursday, Senegal confirmed in a press statement that Mane has not recovered from an injury in time to feature at global competition. Senegal are pooled in Group A alongside hosts Qatar, Netherlands and Ecuador.

Sadio Mane missing the World Cup is very hurtful. He was a player to watch in this tournament. He did all he can to qualify Senegal to go to Qatar. He has always played every game as if it was his first appearance. The duty of Senegal is to make Mane proud.
