The German manager has an excellent grasp of the English language - however a translation issue on Friday caused some problems

Jurgen Klopp has been an immense success in England on many levels - on the pitch he has guided Liverpool to Premier League and Champions League glory; off it he has won many fans with his gregarious charisma.

Klopp has also shown an impressive grasp of the English language, the German giving interviews and press conferences in a second language with consummate ease.

However, there are still some elements of English which cause confusion - as happened in his press conference on Friday ahead of facing Newcastle in the Premier League, with hilarious results.

Discussing a turn of phrase, Klopp asked the assembled journalists: "Why can everybody say that word and if I say it, it's not okay?". When asked what the word is, he replied: "Brain-f*ck".

However, he was corrected that the term is "brain-fog" - an English colloquialism meaning to suffer forgetfulness - leading to a huge outbreak in laughter from the reporters.

Once things had been cleared up for a bemused Klopp, he rightly points out that it "sounds exactly the same to my ears, to be honest".
