Manchester United still appear in the driving seat to sign Napoli sensation Victor Osimhen.

Victor Osimhen’s future is set to be one of the biggest talking points of the summer transfer window, with the Nigeria striker reportedly courted by some of the world’s biggest clubs.

He’s enjoying an exceptional campaign at Napoli, who are currently 15 points clear at the top of Serie A, with Osimhen also enjoying a comfortable lead in the goalscoring charts following a record-breaking campaign.

There are sure to be some eye-watering bids for his services this summer, but who are the favourites to secure his future

Outsiders for Osimhen’s signature, Spurs have been mooted as a potential destination for the in-form frontman, although in truth, rumours have died down in recent months.

Tottenham surely need to start considering a post-Harry Kane succession plan, particularly if the England superstar pushes for an exit again at the end of this season, and Osimhen could be an ideal long-term replacement for the Lilywhites’ talisman.

Despite the remarkable campaign he’s enjoying in Germany—and the new contract he’s been afforded—Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, at 33, is never going to be a long-term solution for Bayern.

The German giants need a new star to lead the line, and 6’1 Osimhen could be just the man.

He’s already played in Germany before—with Wolfsburg—and could be the next star attraction at FC Hollywood.

Last summer’s acquisition of Erling Haaland should—in principle—secure the future of the Manchester City forward line for the best part of the next decade.

Like Osimhen, Haaland is enjoying a remarkable goalscoring season—he currently leads the Premier League’s Golden Boot race with a whopping 27 goals—and it’s hard to see why City would need to pair both players together.

Having said that, that would be an utterly explosive—and deadly—front two!

Arsenal have already enjoyed the services of one iconic Nigeria striker—Nwankwo Kanu—but could Osimhen be the next in line at the Emirates Stadium?

It would be a compelling partnership, particularly considering the Gunners’ popularity in Nigeria, while the prospect of Osimhen being flanked by the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard would be truly terrifying for the Londoners’ opponents.

  5. Paris Saint-Germain

    Paris Saint-Germain

What better way for PSG to boost their hopes of securing a maiden Champions League title than be signing one of Europe’s leading frontmen?!

In Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, they’re not sure of firepower, but Osimhen would represent a true focal point for the attack, and hopefully get even more out of the club’s three existing superstars.

Osimhen, who signed for Napoli from LOSC Lille, scored 13 goals in 27 Ligue 1 outings during his sole campaign in France.

  6. Chelsea

    Chelsea

One of several giants short of a true leading centre-forward, Chelsea’s attempt to rehabilitate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has failed, and the Blues continue to persist with Kai Havertz as a stand-in striker.

It’s not a long-term solution, and while Osimhen could be a devastating answer…would he be willing to risk the Chelsea strikers curse?

Like Arsenal, the Blues have a huge fanbase in Nigeria, and Super Eagles fans would be delirious should Osimhen follow in John Obi Mikel’s footsteps and move to Stamford Bridge.

    Manchester United

Still the favourites to secure Osimhen’s signature, United recruited Wout Weghorst on loan in January in order to attempt to solve their long-standing striking woes, although the Dutch international was only ever going to be a stop-gap measure.

Osimhen could be the striking superstar and genuine goalscorer that United have been waiting for, and Erik ten Hag is surely salivating at the prospect of adding the Nigerian to the project his moulding at Old Trafford.
