The Brazilians are at back home after a successful trip to Cape Town last week

Mamelodi Sundowns would be looking to build on their Premier Soccer League winning start when they host TS Galaxy at Loftus Versfeld on Wednesday.

After beating Cape Town City 2-0 in their league opener last Friday, Masandawana now play their first home game of the season.

The victory over City was a statement of intent in their title defence and they now face the challenge of the Rockets in this bid for a record-extending sixth straight PSL crown.

GOAL predicts how the Masandawana coaches could arrange their starting line-up.

  1. GOALKEEPER - Ronwen Williams

    GOALKEEPER - Ronwen Williams

The Bafana Bafana goalkeeper was thrown deep into the fray a few days after completing his move to Sundowns when he guarded goal against Cape Town City.

Williams enjoyed a good debut in Masandawana colours and his performance was a statement that he can be selected ahead of Denis Onyango again.

  2. RIGHT-BACK - Thapelo Morena

With fitness concerns around Khuliso Mudau, Morena is likely to start on the right side of defence.

Mudau was injured in the last game and Morena came on to give a good account of himself.

  3. LEFT-BACK - Aubrey Modiba

    LEFT-BACK - Aubrey Modiba

Modiba managed to relegate Lyle Lakay to the bench against City and with Divine Lunga having been loaned out to Golden Arrows, there is no further challenge on the ex-SuperSport United man.

This is a man who has confidence after scoring the first-ever goal of the 2022/23 season when his sublime free-kick broke the deadlock against Cape Town City.

  4. CENTRE-BACK - Mosa Lebusa

    CENTRE-BACK - Mosa Lebusa

After some criticism of his game last season, especially after Sundowns' Caf Champions League exit, Lebusa appears to be a rejuvenated man.

This is after he marshalled the defence very well last Friday and he would be hoping to continue that way against the Rockets.

  5. CENTRE-BACK - Brian Onyango

    CENTRE-BACK - Brian Onyango

Brian Onyango's partnership with Lebusa was the most-used set-up last season and the Brazilians coaches have kept faith in that central defensive combination.

That freezes out Rushine de Reuck who has to do with sitting on the bench.

  6. CENTRAL MIDFIELDER - Teboho Mokoena

    CENTRAL MIDFIELDER - Teboho Mokoena

Mokoena was named Man-of-the-Match after an outstanding performance against City.

That was the start he needed in the new season and if he continues like that, no one would remove him from that position.

  7. LEFT MIDFIELDER - Haashim Domingo

Domingo made his mark against City when his long pass was met by Themba Zwane who then scored Sundowns' second goal.

Domingo's creativity would be crucial in this home game against Galaxy.

  8. RIGHT MIDFIELDER - Neo Maema

The former Bloemfontein Celtic star featured for the entire game on Friday and rarely set his foot wrong, combining well in midfield with Mkoena, Domingo and Zwane.

  9. ATTACKING MIDFIELDER - Themba Zwane

    ATTACKING MIDFIELDER - Themba Zwane

One of the stars in the season opener, Zwane captained Masandawana in that match and led by example.

His clever chip resulted in Sundowns' second goal and he would be keen to maintain that form on Tuesday.

  10. ATTACKING MIDFIELDER - Bradley Ralani

Ralani came on as a substitute for Zwane in the last game but the two have proven to have a good understanding whenever they share space in midfield.

Ralani is known for his creativity and sometimes chips in with a goal.

  11. CENTRE-FORWARD - Peter Shalulile

The Namibian struggled as he shared the box with Thabiso Kutumela the last time out.

Sundowns coaches might this time around decide to deploy Shalulile as a lone striker, a role he thrived in last season.
