What happened?
Feyenoord sporting director Dennis te Kloese has made it clear that the Eredivisie champions have no intention of selling star striker Santiago Gimenez.
The Mexico international has recently been linked with the likes of Tottenham, Atletico Madrid and Benfica after an impressive 2022-23 campaign.
Previous reports suggested Feyenoord would be open to selling Gimenez if the price was right, but a transfer now no longer seems to be an option.
"Yes, 100 per cent," Te Klose told ESPN when asked if Gimenez would still be at Feyenoord in 2023-24.

And what's more
And while the 22-year-old Gimenez might potentially feel he's ready for the next step in his career, Te Kloese believes a prolonged stay is in everyone's best interest.
"We have a long-term contract with Santiago," the Feyenoord director added.
"It's the best thing for both his own development and for Feyenoord that he will be staying here.
"Santiago will continue to be a Feyenoord man in an ideal situation."

The bigger picture
Gimenez joined Feyenoord from Cruz Azul in 2022 and has since become a key figure at the Rotterdam giants.
He scored 23 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions for the club, leading them to Eredivisie glory and strong runs in the Europa League and KNVB Beker.
The striker's contract with Feyenoord runs until June 2026.
