Orlando Pirates midfielder Thabang Monare played a crucial role on Saturday in their Premier Soccer League game, but was unable to stop Mamelodi Sundowns from winning 1-0.

Cassius Mailula's seventh-minute strike settled matters at Orlando Stadium as Rhulani Mokwena's team won their 15th consecutive league game.

Despite the loss, Monare stood out in the Sea Robbers' midfield, with Andile Jali on the Sundowns bench, and his efforts did not go down unnoticed.
