Amakhosi were left to rue their missed chances after losing to their arch-rivals at FNB Stadium.
  1. Brandon Petersen - 5.5/10

    Brandon Petersen - 5.5/10

    Disappointing display.

Petersen was let down by his defence when Erasmus scored from close range, but he should have done better to stop Mthethwa's header. Made only two saves on the day.

  2. Reeve Frosler - 7/10

    Reeve Frosler - 7/10

    Influential in the right flank.

Frosler was robust defensively, a handy contributor in Chiefs' build-up, and a smart overlapper when required.

  3. Sifiso Hlanti - 6/10

    Sifiso Hlanti - 6/10

    Made some questionable decisions.

Hlanti was caught out of position especially when Chiefs were defending aerial balls, but managed to neutralize Monnapule Saleng.

  4. Siyabonga Ngezana - 6.5/10

    Siyabonga Ngezana - 6.5/10

One of Chiefs' better performers. Ngezana made some vital interceptions and clearances while coming close to scoring with a powerful shot.

  5. Edmilson Dove - 5/10

    Edmilson Dove - 5/10

Struggled on his return to the team.

Dove gave Saleng time and space to set up Erasmus who scored. His postioning was also questionable when Mthethwa grabbed the winning goal.

  6. Yusuf Maart - 6.5/10

    Yusuf Maart - 6.5/10

Captained Chiefs against his former club.

Maart carried Amakhosi forward with his runs with the ball into Pirates' box which saw him grab Amakhosi's goal.

  7. Siyethemba Sithebe - 6.5/10

    Siyethemba Sithebe - 6.5/10

    Consistent perfomer.

Sithebe flourished in his role as a holding midfielder as he intercepted most of Pirates' attacking moves and he also had a shot saved by keeper Sipho Chaine.

  8. Samkelo Zwane - 5/10

    Samkelo Zwane - 5/10

Failed to rise to the occasion.

Zwane was timid in and out of possession during his time on the pitch having been substituted in the 64th minute.

  9. Dillan Solomons - 6.5/10

    Dillan Solomons - 6.5/10

    Deployed as a right-winger.

Solomons constantly cut open Bucs' defence with his explosive speed and he grabbed an assist when he set-up Maart.

  10. Ashley du Preez - 7/10

    Ashley du Preez - 7/10

A thorn in Pirates' defence and Chiefs' best player.

Du Preez was a constant threat to Pirates defence and created several chances for his teammates, while also pressing and forcing Bucs defenders to make mistakes.

  11. Christian Basomboli Saile - 4.5/10

    Christian Basomboli Saile - 4.5/10

    Wasteful.

Chiefs' best chances on the day fell for Saile, but the DR Congolese forward was wasteful and he was booed by Amakhosi fans at some point.

  12. Mduduzi Shabalala - 5.5/10
    Backpage

    Mduduzi Shabalala - 5.5/10

Showed nice touches and movement as he unsettled the Pirates defence, but his impact was minimum in extra-time having been introduced in the 64th minute.

  13. Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana - 5/10
    Backpagepix

    Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana - 5/10

Introduced in the 70th minute and he failed to make an impact as he was neutralized by Tapelo Xoki and Nkosinathi Sibisi.

  14. Kgaogelo Sekgota - 5/10

    Kgaogelo Sekgota - 5/10

Never posed a threat to the Pirates defence after coming on in the 119th minute.
