Kaizer Chiefs Player Ratings: Wasteful Saile costs Amakhosi but Du Preez shows his class against Orlando Pirates
Kaizer Chiefs succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Orlando Pirates in extra-time of their Nedbank Cup semi-final clash on Saturday.
Yusuf Maart grabbed Amakhosi's consolation goal as two goals from Kermit Erasmus and Sandile Mthethwa earned Bucs the win on the day.

Brandon Petersen - 5.5/10
Disappointing display.
Petersen was let down by his defence when Erasmus scored from close range, but he should have done better to stop Mthethwa's header. Made only two saves on the day.

Influential in the right flank.
Frosler was robust defensively, a handy contributor in Chiefs' build-up, and a smart overlapper when required.

Sifiso Hlanti - 6/10
Made some questionable decisions.
Hlanti was caught out of position especially when Chiefs were defending aerial balls, but managed to neutralize Monnapule Saleng.

Siyabonga Ngezana - 6.5/10
One of Chiefs' better performers. Ngezana made some vital interceptions and clearances while coming close to scoring with a powerful shot.

Edmilson Dove - 5/10
Struggled on his return to the team.
Dove gave Saleng time and space to set up Erasmus who scored. His postioning was also questionable when Mthethwa grabbed the winning goal.

Captained Chiefs against his former club.
Maart carried Amakhosi forward with his runs with the ball into Pirates' box which saw him grab Amakhosi's goal.

Siyethemba Sithebe - 6.5/10
Consistent perfomer.
Sithebe flourished in his role as a holding midfielder as he intercepted most of Pirates' attacking moves and he also had a shot saved by keeper Sipho Chaine.

Samkelo Zwane - 5/10
Failed to rise to the occasion.
Zwane was timid in and out of possession during his time on the pitch having been substituted in the 64th minute.

Dillan Solomons - 6.5/10
Deployed as a right-winger.
Solomons constantly cut open Bucs' defence with his explosive speed and he grabbed an assist when he set-up Maart.

Ashley du Preez - 7/10
A thorn in Pirates' defence and Chiefs' best player.
Du Preez was a constant threat to Pirates defence and created several chances for his teammates, while also pressing and forcing Bucs defenders to make mistakes.

Christian Basomboli Saile - 4.5/10
Wasteful.
Chiefs' best chances on the day fell for Saile, but the DR Congolese forward was wasteful and he was booed by Amakhosi fans at some point.

Mduduzi Shabalala - 5.5/10
Showed nice touches and movement as he unsettled the Pirates defence, but his impact was minimum in extra-time having been introduced in the 64th minute.
