Scotland v Poland Live Commentary, 3/24/22

1 - 1
K. Tierney (68)
K. Piątek (90+4 pen)
Hampden Park

That's all for now though, goodbye!
Scotland will take the positives from this performance, while Poland will look to use the confidence from their last-minute equaliser and apply it during their playoff final on Tuesday.
Piatek's late penalty rescues a draw for Poland. Scotland were in charge of this game throughout but couldn't find a way through in the first half, despite plenty of chances. Eventually though, they found an opener when Tierney steered in a header from McGinn's free-kick. That looked as though it would secure the hosts a morale-boosting win, but there was late drama. Piatek was fouled by Gordon late on, and he stepped up himself to score a last-gasp penalty and equalise for the visitors. Scotland had no time to react and they'll be left mulling over a 1-1 draw, while Poland move onto their playoff final.

J. Bednarek
83' Poland replace a defender with a striker: Bednarek makes way for Buksa.
81' Zielinski chases hard to get to a long ball over the top before Hanley, before drawing a promising free-kick near the touchline. Gordon sails off his line to bravely punch the delivery clear.

46' Scotland kick off the second half.
Adams had a lively half up top for Scotland, and he could be the key after the break. He's scored in each of his last two appearances for Scotland (netting two goals from three shots on target), as many as he’d netted in his first 11 games for the Tartan Army. Since his debut in March 2021, no player has been directly involved in more goals for Scotland.
It's 0-0 after an entertaining first half. Poland started this one brightly and should have taken the lead early on when Moder fired wide wastefully after beating Tierney. However, the visitors were forced into two substitutions - both Milik and Salamon were forced off injured - and they lost their rhythm. Scotland grew into the game and ended the half on top, as Skorupski made a string of fine saves to deny Patterson and Gilmour. Nevertheless, it's level heading into the break.
45' + 1' Two minutes of stoppage time are added on.
45' Double save! Taylor's cross falls to Patterson at the back post, whose volley is pushed away by Skorupski. The rebound comes to Gilmour on the edge of the box and he drills a low strike that the goalkeeper pushes away superbly after it emerged through a crowd of bodies!
K. Bielik
B. Salamon
44' Salamon is replaced in defence by Bielik.
43' Chance! Patterson goes on another enterprising run as the wingback weaves into the box once more, before placing a 12-yard strike straight at Skorupski.
41' Salamon hobbles off after colliding with Adams and it doesn't look as though he can continue. Poland will be forced into their second change before half-time.
39' Piatek spins past Hanley and for a moment it looks as though he'll be clean through! However, the referee halts play for a foul on Hanley.
37' Zielinski clips in a free-kick from deep, but Hanley is there to head clear.
35' McGinn feeds Adams on the edge of the box and the striker drills a low strike that Skorupski comfortably gathers.

22' Hanley heads Gilmour's corner comfortably wide from eight yards.
20' McGregor's 25-yard strike sails high and wide.
18' Cash receives a short pass from a free-kick, but his deep cross runs through to Gordon.
17' Moder is down injured following a heavy challenge from McTominay, but he should be okay to continue.
15' Scotland build the pressure with a succession of corners. The first is anxiously cleared behind, before Skorupski punches the second away.
13' CHANCE! Zielinski slips a neat throughball towards Moder, allowing the midfielder to race in behind. He cuts inside Tierney, before wastefully slicing his six-yard effort well wide.
11' CHANCE! Patterson sets off from the halfway line and drives at a backtracking Poland defence. The wingback chops dangerously into the box, before rolling a tame 10-yard strike straight at Skorupski.
9' Tierney and Taylor look to combine down the left flank, but Salamon steps in authoritatively to rip possession away from the latter.
7' It's been a slow start so far. Both teams are fighting for control in midfield and there have been few opportunities to push forward.
5' Milik hooks a pass over the top in search of Moder but Tierney is alive to the danger and gets back to clear.
