That's all from us regarding this match, be sure to catch us for the next one! Goodbye!
Chelsea's 2-1 victory sees them extend their lead at the top of Group E to four points for now, and they have ensured qualification to the next stage of the competition. Salzburg remain second for now, two points ahead of Milan and Dinamo Zagreb, whose game began later than this one. But, after their stellar performance in this game, Die Bullen can be confident of getting the job done at the San Siro next time around.
Havertz's winner came right out of the top drawer, and the Chelsea forward was frankly unplayable for most of the game. He had four shots, with three on target, and touched the ball in the box nine times. He passed 17 times in the final third, also contesting 17 duels and winning four of the seven that came in the air. His drifting between the midfield and forward lines game the Salzburg defence constant trouble, and his winner was the first of his 26 Chelsea goals to come from outside the penalty area!
Well, what a half of football that was!!! Salzburg drew level minutes into the second period with a fantastic finish from Adamu, and from then on, the game was one littered with high-quality chances. The teams went blow-for-blow until Havertz popped up to stroke in an even better winning goal, but the end-to-end action only intensified in the last half hour, with both sides going close on several occasions! Chelsea held out though, and seal their passage into the knockout stages, but Salzburg can hold their heads high and be confident of progressing themselves on that showing!
90' + 6' Chelsea look to keep the ball amongst their defenders, but the spell of possession is broken up after Kjaergaard smashes Azpilicueta over the sideline!
90' + 4' Broja is dispossessed in the corner, but Gourna-Douath's eventual clearance is intercepted by Azpilicueta. He finds Jorginho, who shoots low from the edge of the box, but the weak effort just rolls into the gloves of Kohn!
90' + 3' Simic spots Kepa off his line as he breaks down the right, but his optimistic effort is easily dealt with by the Chelsea goalkeeper, not even needing to handle the shot!
Yellow Card
90' + 2' Chelsea get a free-kick following a Salzburg delivery into the box, and Kepa pushes the penalised Simic in the following melee, being shown a yellow card to boot!
90' + 1' We're into SIX minutes of added time to close out this second half, and that's plenty of time for Salzburg to find an equaliser here!
90' SAVED!!!! Three successive Salzburg corners are swung into the Chelsea box. Kepa punches the third away, but Kameri follows up with a low shot from the edge of the box, which is gratefully held by the goalkeeper!
89' Sesko again finds Dedic arriving on the right-flank, and he cuts inside before shooting, but Silva heads it clear for Chelsea!
M. Mount
R. Sterling
88' Sterling also comes off after a quiet game by his standards, and Mason Mount comes off the bench for the first time under Graham Potter. This is the first time he hasn't started a game since the Englishman took over at Stamford Bridge.
H. Ziyech
C. Gallagher
88' Late subs arrive for Chelsea, with Hakim Ziyech replacing the booked Gallagher for the last few minutes.
87' WIDE!!! Kepa comes for, and misses, another Salzburg corner, and the loose ball falls to Gourna-Douath, who can only skew a rushed effort wide of the post!
87' SAVED!!! Sesko cuts inside and dribbles across the edge of the box before playing the ball wide to Dedic. He arrives late on the right-side of the box, and smashes a first-time finish which Kepa tips around the post!
C. Gallagher
Yellow Card
86' Broja chases a long clearance for Chelsea but can't dispossess Bernardo. Gallagher arrives late and does so, but connects with the defender first and so is booked by the referee.
85' With Silva back on his feet and playing, it's worth noting that only Manchester City (1.79) have a lower expected goals against total than Chelsea (1.81) in the Champions League this season, with the Blues only facing eight opposition shots on target before this game. Only City (4) have faced fewer this term too.
83' Silva and Simic contest an aerial ball and the Chelsea defender is sent flying, landing awkwardly and requiring immediate treatment as play draws to a halt.
D. Kameri
J. Adamu
82' Goalscorer Adamu is next off for the hosts, meaning they'll see out the game with a new strike partnership of Simic and Dijon Kameri.
80' Adamu and Loftus-Cheek contest a 50-50 for the loose ball, and the free-kick goes against the Salzburg striker, despite him coming off worse from the challenge.
R. Šimić
N. Okafor
78' Okafor hasn't been able to find the net in this game, but has tested Kepa, and comes off now for Roko Simic to hopefully do more of the same.
A. Ulmer
M. Wöber
78' Wober's assist for Adamu's goal was sensational to say the least, and Salzburg's stand-in captain is withdrawn for their regular skipper, veteran Andreas Ulmer.
77' Gourna-Douath does well to block two successive crossing attempts from Gallagher, and he comes away with the ball before being brought down by Azpilicueta on the edge of his own box.
A. Broja
P. Aubameyang
75' Aubameyang also comes off, with Armando Broja brought on in his place to try his luck up front.
César Azpilicueta
C. Pulišić
75' Having played a massive part in what is currently the winning goal for Chelsea, Pulisic comes off, and club captain Cesar Azpilicueta is on for him.
74' BLOCKED!!! Good play down the left from Chelsea as Havertz cuts the ball back in the box. Pulisic fluffs his effort, but the ball skews back to Gallagher, whose vicious volley is blocked by Seiwald!
73' Havertz's strike separates the two sides at the moment, and it's the first time the German has scored from outside the box as a Chelsea player, with the 64th minute strike his 26th goal in all competitions for the Blues.
71' After receiving treatment following that mid-air clash with Pavlovic, Kepa is back to his feet and punches another corner clear.
69' OFF THE LINE!!! Kepa punches Seiwald's corner clear, but misses Dedic's cross back into the area, and Pavlovic's header is cleared off the line by Silva!
R. Loftus-Cheek
M. Kovačić
68' Kovacic's opener got the Blues up and running, but he's off now for Ruben Loftus-Cheek in the centre of the park.
67' SAVED!!! Wober calmly volleys a long kick into the path of Sesko, who takes the ball past Chalobah, before unleashing a low shot heading for the bottom corner, which is tipped wide by Kepa!
66' SAVED!!! Seiwald's corner is headed clear, but the Salzburg midfielder can cross again from the edge of the box. Chalobah heads it to the right-hand corner of the box, where Okafor is located, and the striker smashes a belting volley which is well held by Kepa at his near post!
K. Havertz
64' GOOOOAAAAALLLL!!!! What a strike!!! Pulisic shows brilliant skill to evade three Salzburg defenders before finding Havertz. His first touch brings the ball across his body, and the second is a sumptuous left-footed shot which curls towards the top corner and smashes off the bottom of the bar, finally beating Kohn and nestling in the back of the net!! 2-1 to Chelsea, and the excitement levels in this game ramp up once more!
C. Pulišić
64' The finish was fantastic, but the build-up play from Pulisic was also exceptional, keeping the ball on the edge of a crowded box, before turning and setting up Havertz's thunderous strike!
63' OVER!!! Sesko picks the pocket of Gallagher on the edge of the Chelsea box, and squares to Okafor. He snatches at a shot with his left foot though, and sends the ball over the crossbar.
62' After Silva heads the ball out over the sideline, Dedic's throw is flicked on by Sesko, but Adamu is dispossessed as he tries to get around Silva!
B. Šeško
L. Sučić
61' The booked Susic is first off for Salzburg, and coach Matthias Jaissle brings on young Slovenian excitement machine Benjamin Sesko in his place.
59' SAVED!!! Kovacic steps through the Salzburg midfield before feeding Havertz in the box, whose shot from a tight angle is held by Kohn!
57' Salzburg played out a 1-1 draw in their last group stage match at Stadion Maksimir against Dinamo Zagreb, with Seiwald the sole player on the scoresheet. They are unbeaten in their last 17 games in all competitions, winning 11 and drawing six.
55' CHANCE!!! A slip from Bernardo allows Aubameyang to flick the ball over the top for Pulisic to chase, but the bouncing ball won't sit up for Pulisic to finish properly and it deflects into the gloves of Kohn!
53' OFF THE LINE!!! Jorginho meets the corner at the front post and his flicked header is heading in, but it's scooped off the line by Adamu and Salzburg survive!
52' SAVED!!! Gallagher dispossesses Gourna-Douath and surges forward before feeding Aubameyang. He touches the ball past Dedic and gets there first, but his close-range shot is parried behind by Kohn!
50' Forward come the hosts once more as Sucic has sight of goal. He looks to arc a shot towards the net, but it's blocked by Silva!
J. Adamu
49' GOOOOOAAAAALLL!!!! Die Bullen equalise!!!! The hosts break and Okafor passes to Wober on the left. He crosses early for Adamu, who side-foots a half-volley beyond Kepa with such composure, and the ball rolls into the far corner to lock us up at 1-1!! What a response from the Salzburg players, and we've got a game on our hands here!
M. Wöber
49' What a piece of finishing from Adamu, but the ball from Wober was out of this world! The skill showed by the Salzburg captain to find his striker was excellent, and Adamu kept his nerve to level this game up!
48' VAR is called in to check the possible penalty, but despite the ball clearly hitting his arm, Kovacic knew nothing about it and no spot-kick will be given!
L. Sučić
Yellow Card
47' After the ball appears to hit the hand of Kovacic inside Chelsea's box, the Salzburg players are furious when the referee calls play on! Sucic leads the protests, and is booked for dissent by the referee, but we've likely not seen the last of this issue!
46' The hosts kick us off, and we're back up and running at the Red Bull Arena!
The sides return for the second half, and can Chelsea press home their slender advantage with a few more goals in the next 45 minutes?
Gallagher has excelled in the number 10 role for Chelsea thus far, having one shot blocked and completing two key passes and three crosses. He's won all six of his contested duels, and won possession back for the Blues six times, winning three free-kicks in the process. Active.
The first half ends, with Chelsea rather unlucky to only be a goal ahead! Salzburg's well-organised defence held firm, and the game was rather end-to-end, until Kovacic smashed in a fantastic opener for the Blues. From then on, it was open season in the Salzburg box, with Kohn saving from Silva, Havertz and Aubameyang twice, to keep the score at 1-0, and keep his side within a chance of grabbing an equaliser.
45' + 1' SAVED!!! Another superb stop from Kohn!!! Kovacic flicks the ball forward to Sterling, who finds Aubameyang from the left byline. The striker smashes a first-time shot, which is kept out thanks to a superb reflex save from Kohn, who parries!
45' We'll play a minute of added time at the end of this first half.
44' CHANCE!!! What an opportunity for Chelsea!! Kovacic and Sterling play a one-two on the edge of the box, but with Kovacic, Havertz and Aubameyang all queuing up to shoot, none of them do so and Kohn dives on the loose ball!
43' Gallagher looks to turn Pavlovic upon receiving the ball from Jorginho, and the Salzburg centre-back is extremely lucky to avoid a booking for that one.
42' Chelsea keep possession well, and look to shift the ball from left to right before Jorginho is clattered by Kjaergaard, who concedes the free-kick.
40' WIDE!!! Seiwald does well to keep the ball in midfield before linking up with Okafor. He in turn finds Sucic, who plays in Kjaergaard, but his left-footed effort flashes wide of Kepa's near post!
38' Chelsea are currently unbeaten in their last eight games in all competitions under Graham Potter, and the Blues boss is in the driving seat to make it nine, although there's still plenty of time to go in this one.
36' SAVED!!! Gallagher surges down the right and is found on the byline before crossing. The ball lands on the forehead of Havertz, but his headed effort is a weak one and Kohn eventually holds the ball on the second attempt!
35' Chelsea find space down the left again and Sterling feeds Havertz. He pulls the ball back towards the penalty spot, but no one in blue is there to finish it and Salzburg clear!
34' SAVED!! Forward come the hosts and Gourna-Douth finds Sucic. He lays the ball off to Okafor, whose low shot is saved by Kepa!
34' Jorginho spots the run of Sterling and finds him on the run, but Bernardo steps in to put the ball over the sideline and the England winger is denied a shooting chance.
32' SAVED!!! What a stop from Kohn, who really saved his team there!!! One-touch passing from the visitors cuts the Salzburg defence to ribbons and Havertz runs through a yawning hole at the back. He squares for Aubameyang, who looks to finish the move off, but Kohn makes himself big and parries the shot!
30' After good play from Gallagher to dispossess Sucic, Pulisic races away down the right, but is pulled back by Wober and Salzburg concede the free-kick.
28' Chelsea have won their last two Champions League games, beating Milan 3-0 at Stamford Bridge and 2-0 at the San Siro. The last time they won three games in a row in the competition by a 2+ goal margin was in autumn 2013, achieving this under Jose Mourinho.
26' SAVED!!! Gallagher's corner is flicked on by Silva at the front post, but a fantastic save from Kohn pulls the ball back from the goal-line! Havertz tries to follow in with a volley, but can't direct his close-range effort on target!
25' Chelsea come straight back at the hosts and Sterling drifts across from the left. He finds Gallagher, who shoots, but his effort from 25 yards is blocked by Bernardo and goes out for a corner!
23' In their two previous Champions League contests at home this season, Salzburg have one win and one draw. Die Bullen are in the midst of a 40-match home unbeaten streak in all competitions.
M. Kovačić
23' GOOOOAAAAALLLL!!!! A belting opener from the boys in blue!!! Gallagher's cross for Havertz can't quite culminate in a chance, but the Blues keep the ball and it's played off for Kovacic on the edge of the box. He swings his left boot and smashes the ball into the top-left corner, in a superb first-time finish to put Chelsea into a 1-0 lead!
21' Seiwald sticks a foot in on Kovacic and gets none of the ball, bringing the Croatian down for a cheap free-kick just inside the Salzburg half.
19' Sterling plays a throughball forward for Havertz, but Bernardo does well to shield the ball and ushers it out for a goal kick.
17' Salzburg have scored exactly one goal in each of their last seven games in the Champions League – only one team have ever had a longer run of scoring a single goal in the competition, with Olympiakos doing so in 10 in a row in a run ending in November 2005.
15' OVER!!! Sucic glides through a gap in the Chelsea midfield and arrives on the edge of the box, but sends his left-footed effort looping over the bar!
14' Gallagher looks to spark a Chelsea counter-attack as he comes forward with the ball, but he's dragged to the ground by Gourna-Douath and play halts for a free-kick.
12' Salzburg are winless in all seven of their previous European matches against English teams, losing five. They have failed to beat Blackburn Rovers (D1 L1), Manchester City (L2), Liverpool (L2) and Chelsea (D1). It is the most they’ve faced teams from a single nation without managing a win in major European competition.
10' Kepa's poor pass wide is intercepted by Gourna-Douath, who heads it long to Okafor. He's got a tight angle to shoot from, but the ball is put behind for a corner before he can do so!
8' A Salzburg attack is cut out by Cucurella, but Dedic shows great skill and anticipation to win the ball back and cross into the box, but it's blocked behind for a corner by Sterling!
7' Sterling cuts inside from the left and races towards the box, but his ball for Havertz is deflected and Salzburg are able to clear.
5' Salzburg have named their youngest starting XI in Champions League history (22 years, 10 days) - only three younger teams have been fielded in the competition: Arsenal in December 2009 (21 years, 215 days), and Ajax in December 2003 (21 years, 355 days) and September 2004 (22 years, 2 days).
5' Gallagher wins the ball from Seiwald 30 yards from the Salzburg goal and looks to play in Aubameyang, but the Gabonese forward takes a heavy touch and the ball rolls through to Kohn.
3' Kohn's eventually back on his feet following some lengthy treatment, and play can continue after that major scare for Salzburg.
2' CHANCE!!!! Bernardo misjudges Jorginho's long pass and misses a header, allowing Havertz to race onto the ball untouched. Kohn races out of his goal to deny the German but is caught in the head by a trailing boot and needs immediate medical attention!
1' Chelsea kick off, and we are under way in north-west Austria!
The two sides head onto the pitch, and we're just minutes away from the kick-off to this game!
Reece James and Wesley Fofana both found the net in Chelsea’s first game with Milan, but the defenders have suffered injuries since, forcing them out of this game. The back three is made up of Chalobah, Thiago Silva and Cucurella, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who scored in both victories over the Rossoneri, plays up front with Kai Havertz.
Salzburg’s top scorer Noah Okafor scored 15 minutes from time to cancel out Raheem Sterling’s opener the last time these two sides met, and followed up to score the winner from the penalty spot against Dinamo Zagreb. He starts up front for the hosts, alongside Junior Adamu.
