Commentary

Thanks for joining us for live coverage of Brighton and Hove Albion's 2-1 FA Cup fourth-round victory over Liverpool at the Amex Stadium.
With Liverpool's FA Cup defence over, they will turn their attentions back to the Premier League when they travel to Molineux to play Wolves on Saturday. With their hopes of retaining the FA Cup over and the Premier League title race seemingly well out of their grasp, their Champions League round-of-16 tie against Real Madrid takes on even more importance, with the first leg set to be played at Anfield on February 21. For Brighton, their meteoric rise continues, and they will look ahead to Monday's draw for the fifth round as they hunt down a first major trophy in club history.
After a thrilling cup tie, it is Brighton who get their name into the hat for the fifth round as they beat the holders 2-1 and end their defence of the trophy. The Seagulls found themselves a goal behind on 30 minutes, when Elliott scored for the second straight FA Cup game to put Klopp's side in front. But the hosts hit back through Dunk, who deflected Lamptey's long-range shot into the back of the net to send the teams into half-time level. The second half was a tight affair, but in the dying seconds, Mitoma showed brilliant composure to bring down a cross before finishing past Alisson to win the game for Brighton.

K. Mitoma
Goal
90' + 2' Goal!!! Brighton have surely nicked it! It is absolutely brilliant from Mitoma, as he takes down a cross from the left and creates space to shoot. He touches it inside, before scooping into the back of the net to spark wild celebrations and surely see the Seagulls into the next round as they take a 2-1 lead!
A. Robertson
Yellow Card

Fabinho
Stefan Bajčetić
85' Fabinho comes on for Bajcetic.
84' Mac Allister has only just gotten to his feet having been shaken up by that Konate challenge. Play will resume with a Liverpool corner.
82' Mac Allister hits the turf after coming together with Konate as he looked to race onto a long pass in behind the Liverpool defence. The home fans scream for a free-kick and a red card, but referee David Coote rules it a fair challenge and waves play-on.
80' Konate makes a vital block to dive in the way of Ferguson's powerful shot after the ball sat up nicely for the Brighton man.
C. Jones
Thiago Alcântara
79' Klopp puts on Jones for Thiago.
77' Alisson races well out of his goal to hack the ball into the stands and prevent March getting on the end of a long punt upfield.
75' Can either of these sides find a winner and prevent the replay?
73' In the current format of the competition (since the 1925-26 season), only Wolves (30), Sheffield United (28) and West Ham (27) have suffered more fourth-round exits from the FA Cup than Liverpool (26), with the Reds losing four of their last six such ties.
71' How has that not gone in!? Mitoma is set away down the left, and finds a superb cross to pick out March in the middle. He shoots first time, but Alisson pulls off an incredible stop with his legs.
69' There is a shout for a Liverpool penalty as Estupinan clumsily bundles over Milner as the 37-year-old crossed into the box, but the referee waves away the protests.
B. Gilmour
D. Welbeck
67' Welbeck comes off for Gilmour.
65' Intricate build-up play looks to have given Thiago space to shoot, but Mac Allister gets a foot in to stop the resulting effort getting near Steele's goal.
L. Dunk
Yellow Card
63' It is Dunk's turn to go in the book after he cynically pulled back Gakpo.
I. Konaté

D. Núñez
H. Elliott
59' Goalscorer Elliott is replaced by Nunez.
J. Milner
T. Alexander-Arnold
59' Alexander-Arnold makes way for Milner.
56' Alexander-Arnold whips a wicked cross into the area, but Salah and Gakpo get in each other's way and it flies harmlessly wide for a goal-kick, though the flag later goes up for offside.
54' Mitoma races past Alexander-Arnold and cuts the ball back from the byline. It ends up bouncing nicely for Gross to hit, but he gets underneath his shot and it goes well over.
52' Brighton have lost both of their FA Cup games against the holders of the competition, with both previous matches coming in the fourth round of the competition (0-2 vs Arsenal in 1979-80, 2-3 vs Arsenal in 2014-15).
50' Dunk lets fly with a free-kick from 30 yards out, but his dipping effort flies wide. That was a decent effort but never troubled Alisson.
48' March curls a delightful delivery across the face of goal, but the ball is just out of Mitoma's reach at the back post as it goes behind for a goal-kick.
46' The hosts get us back underway for the second period.
J. Veltman
A. Webster
46' Veltman comes on for Webster at the break.
Liverpool made it to half-time level at the Amex Stadium on January 14, before a rampant second-half display from Brighton saw them run out 3-0 winners. Can Klopp's men avoid a similar second-half capitulation here?
The referee blows the whistle to bring a thrilling first 45 minutes to a conclusion with the scoreline 1-1. After Ferguson and Salah missed great chances to open the scoring, the latter provided an excellent pass to play in Elliott, who finished superbly for his second goal in as many FA Cup matches. But Liverpool's lead lasted just nine minutes, as they failed to fully deal with a corner before Lamptey's shot from range deflected off Dunk and flew past Alisson into the net.
45' + 2' HALF-TIME: BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION 1-1 LIVERPOOL
45' Elliott is up and back on the pitch, as we enter two minutes of additional time at the end of this entertaining first half.
44' Elliott is down after that challenge from Lamptey, having collided with Steele.
42' Lamptey makes a vital interception to nick the ball away from Elliott before the Liverpool man can get a shot away at goal.
T. Lamptey
Assist
39' Lamptey hits the ball first time and receives a huge slice of luck as it comes off Dunk and goes in.
L. Dunk
Goal
39' Goal!!! Brighton are level! They play the corner short, before the ball is eventually crossed. Alexander-Arnold heads away, but only to Lamptey, who fires at goal from range. The right-back's shot deflects off Dunk, completely wrongfooting Alisson, and flies into the net to make it 1-1!
39' Konate gives away a corner under little pressure. Can Brighton take advantage?
37' The visitors have a free-kick in a decent crossing position, but Alexander-Arnold's delivery is easily dealt with by Ferguson.
35' Brighton are throwing men forward as they look for a quick equaliser, but Liverpool are defending well to this point.
33' Liverpool have avoided defeat in their last five matches when scoring the opening goal in the FA Cup dating back to January 2021 against Manchester United (lost 3-2).
Mohamed Salah
Assist
30' Salah's pass was brilliant to allow Elliott to fire home without taking a touch.
H. Elliott
Goal
30' Goal!!! Liverpool take the lead, and it is that man Elliott again! Klopp's side stride forward on the counter, and Salah plays a perfectly weighted pass into the path of Elliott. The 19-year-old shoots first time, and though Steele gets a hand to it, he cannot stop the ball nestling into the net. The visitors are 1-0 up!
29' Liverpool have progressed from three of their five FA Cup ties against Brighton, most recently a 6-1 victory in February 2012.
27' Both teams have watched big moments to take the lead come and go. Which side will show the composure needed to get their noses in front?
25' Salah misses a great chance! He races onto Elliott's superb throughball, beating the offside trap. He bears down on goal, but can only drag his shot wide of the post. That was a golden opportunity to give Liverpool the lead.
23' The Seagulls are looking to win consecutive games against Liverpool for the first time in their history, winning 3-0 in the Premier League earlier this month.
21' Mitoma plays a brilliant one-two to make space for a shot, but Konate gets an important block in to take the sting out of his effort, which Alisson collects at the second attempt.
19' Keita is momentarily down after an awkward landing as he competed for an aerial ball with Mac Allister. The midfielder is up now though and looks like he will be okay to continue.
Stefan Bajčetić
Yellow Card
17' Bajcetic is yellow-carded for a late tackle on Gross in midfield.
15' What a chance! March flies down the right and finds a superb cross to pick out Ferguson. The ball just gets stuck at the forward's feet a little, though he eventually manages to scoop a shot towards goal. His low effort beats Alisson, but not Alexander-Arnold who is there to block it off the line.
12' Brighton have scored three goals in both of their meetings with Liverpool this season, having done so in just two of their first 35 against the Reds in all competitions.
10' Mitoma powers past Alexander-Arnold and curls a threatening cross in towards Ferguson, but Konate is able to head away before the young striker can reach it.
8' Elliott looks to repeat his superb long-range winner against Wolves in the last round, but his low shot is tame and easily gathered by Steele.
6' It has been a frantic start, with both teams throwing plenty of bodies forward as they search for an early goal.
4' So close! Salah is inches away from giving Liverpool the lead. His initial shot is blocked, but his second effort looks to be heading in until Dunk clears the ball off the line.
4' March whips a dangerous corner in, but Alisson does superbly to rise highest and claim the ball before any Brighton player can head goalwards.
3' Lamptey wins an early corner as his cross is deflected behind by Bajcetic. Can the Seagulls capitalise?
1' The visitors kick us off and we are underway!
The two teams make their way out onto the Amex Stadium pitch ahead of this cup tie.
Visiting manager Jurgen Klopp goes with just one alteration from the goalless draw at home to Chelsea last weekend, as Alexander-Arnold starts at right-back ahead of Milner after recovering from a muscle injury. Gakpo, yet to open his account for Liverpool since signing from PSV, will lead the line.
Home boss Roberto De Zerbi makes four changes from his team's last outing, a 2-2 draw away at Leicester City, with Moises Caicedo absent from the squad after asking to leave the club. Steele replaces Sanchez between the sticks, while Webster and Lamptey come into the backline. Exciting young forward Ferguson gets a start, while Van Hecke drops to the bench.
SUBS: Caoimhin Kelleher, Fabinho, James Milner, Jordan Henderson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Curtis Jones, Konstantinos Tsimikas, Darwin Nunez, Joel Matip.

The visitors have not been at their usual brilliant best this season and were forced to a replay in the third round by Wolves, but a 1-0 victory at Molineux kept their hopes alive of retaining the FA Cup for the first time in the club's history. While they trail Brighton by two points and three places in the league, their strong history in this competition should give them the belief they can get past the Seagulls and lift the famous trophy for a ninth time.
The hosts head into this tie looking to make the fifth round for the fourth time in the last six seasons. Losing finalists to Manchester United in the 1982-83 campaign, the Seagulls will come into this game full of confidence having thrashed Liverpool 3-0 in the Premier League on January 14.
