Wesley Fofana was the unlikely hero as Chelsea FINALLY ended their abysmal run of form with a narrow victory over Leeds at Stamford Bridge.

Graham Potter bought himself some time in the Chelsea dugout as Wesley Fofana's second-half header delivered a vital 1-0 win over old rivals Leeds at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The hosts dominated from the first whistle and had three glorious chances to take the lead through Wesley Fofana, Kai Havertz and Joao Felix, with the latter thumping the crossbar.

The Blues were forced to wait until early in the second period to get the all important winner, though, as Fofana rose highest to nod a corner into the back of the net. Despite Chelsea missing a litany of goalscoring chances, that proved to be enough for a crucial three points.

Here are GOAL's Chelsea player ratings from Stamford Bridge.

  • Kepa pre-match Chelsea Leeds 2022-23

    Goalkeeper & Defence

    Kepa Arrizabalaga (6/10):

Rarely tested and merely had to be aware of his positioning for the most part.

    Wesley Fofana (8/10):

Came so close to opening the scoring with a thumping header, but made no mistake with a second opportunity as he nodded home.

    Kalidou Koulibaly (7/10):

Made two fine last-ditch recovery challenges when Leeds were in. Rock-solid throughout.

    Benoit Badiashile (7/10):

Another mature showing - fast becoming one of Chelsea's best new arrivals.

  • Ben Chilwelll Chelsea Leeds 2022-23

    Midfield

    Ruben Loftus-Cheek (5/10):

Got forward well but lacked the required passing accuracy and end product at times.

    Mateo Kovacic (6/10):

Got through a lot of dirty work to give his midfield partner more freedom.

    Enzo Fernandez (6/10):

Continued his steady start to life in a Chelsea shirt and was able to be more adventurous.

    Ben Chilwell (7/10):

A constant outlet from wing-back as Chelsea pushed forward down his flank, and an assist came from a corner.

  • Sterling Chelsea Leeds 2022-23

    Attack

    Raheem Sterling (7/10):

A potent threat and the catalyst for Chelsea's best attacks and came so close to scoring himself. Hooked with Dortmund in mind.

    Joao Felix (6/10):

Showed expert technique to crack a half-volley at goal but smacked the crossbar. Bright before being subbed.

    Kai Havertz (6/10):

Worked hard but simply had to score in a one-on-one situation but his profligate streak struck again.

  • Graham Potter Chelsea Leeds 2022-23

    Subs & Manager

    Denis Zakaria (6/10):

Added some mettle to the Blues' midfield as they shifted to a diamond shape to see out the game.

    Conor Gallagher (7/10):

Had the bit between his teeth and relished the midfield battle as soon as he got on.

    Carney Chukwuemeka (6/10):

Got on the ball and looked confident.

    Noni Madueke (6/10):

Spritely and put himself about in his cameo.

    Trevoh Chalobah (6/10):

Some important interventions in his brief time on the pitch.

    Graham Potter (7/10):

It was a performance that should have yielded far more goals, but this was still so much better for Potter and Chelsea. Onwards and upwards.
