The first half was fought very evenly as both sides looked to be positive and search for goals. Dortmund broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute as Hazard's powerful strike from Passlack's cross could not be stopped on the line by the Copenhagen defenders. Haraldsson then equalised for the hosts shortly before the break after Claesson was quickest to the loose ball and he played his striker into a good shooting position. Malen had the best chance to grab a winner in the second half after Adeyemi put the ball on a plate for him from eight yards out, but the striker could not even hit the target and the match finished 1-1.
