Arsenal fans in South Africa have expressed their excitement at the signing of Belgian winger Leandro Trossard who completed his move on Friday.
Trossard has joined the Gunners from Premier League rivals Brighton and Hove Albion for £20 million, rising to £7 million in add-ons, and is set to bolster Mikel Arteta’s attack after missing out on Ukrainian Mykhailo Mudryk who joined Chelsea, having looked set for Arsenal.
Supporters feel Arsenal have actually got a better deal from the Belgian who is Premier League proven and cost much less than the nearly £90 million that Chelsea had to pay for Mudryk to ‘steal’ him from the North London club.
We [Arsenal] don't overpay for uncertain players. We went for [the] little-known with mighty experience. The tested and proven EPL [English Premier League] player. -Ibrahim S. Mai-Shadda Tsafe
Trossard will score our fifth goal against [Manchester] United on Sunday. Beware! -Auwal Sabo
He will be getting much game time. Technical and eye for goal. Just what we needed. Strong rotation player. -@EmmaKuzi
Missing out on Mudryk may be a blessing. Saved a lot of money and got someone well versed with the Premier League. - @RyanThomasMMA
Spending £30m on a proven Premier League talent and not £100m on a Ukrainian that nobody knew a month ago. Chelsea are actually finished. -@taylorsheltoon
Gabriel Jesus or [Eddie] Nketiah out, Trossard steps in. [Gabriel] Martinelli tired, Trossard steps in. [Bukayo] Saka needs rest, Leandro Trossard steps in. Arsenal need goals against the top six, call Leandro Trossard. -@modiezare
Moral of the story, you don't necessarily need world class players to do the job. Most of the time, you need players that can fit into your system and get the job done. -@tarthomas237
Already a legend without event touching the ball and his debut goal is coming against the top pretenders [Manchester United] on Sunday. - @dizifanatics
I don’t think [Mikel] Arteta plans to use Trossard as a wide player for long. I can see him converting into a central midfielder much like Bernardo Silva did at Manchester City. Would love to see him playing the role that [Granit] Xhaka currently is for us. He would be a much-needed creative link between [Oleksandr] Zinchenko and Gabriel Martinelli. -@Mad4Mullah
I imagine how good Leandro Trossard is and he makes this move for this amount. Wow! A quarter of what Chelsea spent on Mykhailo Mudryk. This is genius. -@SurajBRanga2
