- Putellas contract expires next year
- Laporta confirms extension talks
- Putellas to compete with Spain in World Cup
WHAT HAPPENED? Due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury, Putellas missed the majority of the previous season, however, made a comeback for the final six games. Some rumours had indicated that Barca might be open to letting their captain go after winning the Champions League without her this season. She has one year left on her contract, which expires in 2024.
Barcelona president, Joan Laporta, however, put an end to the rumours and confirmed that the two parties are very close to signing a contract extension to keep La Reina at the Catalonia club.
WHAT THEY SAID: Laporta denied reports that offers would be considered for the club captain and stated, "With Alexia, we are quite close to reaching an agreement to renew her contract".
