Tottenham Hotspur v Fulham Live Commentary, 03/09/2022

2 - 1
P. Højbjerg (40)
H. Kane (75)
A. Mitrović (83)
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Tottenham march on, then, and look like one of the teams to beat this season. Could a genuine title challenge be on the cards? We'll have to wait and see. That's all for now. Goodbye!
Tottenham go second in the Premier League for now. They've got 14 points from six games, their joint-highest points total at this stage of the season alongside 2016-17 when they finished second. Fulham are 10th. They'll be fine so long as they keep Mitrovic fit and firing. He's now scored for the Cottagers in each of his last four Premier League appearances.
Tottenham have edged past Fulham to continue their great start to the season! Kane's close-range finish proved to be enough for the hosts, who had the better of Fulham all game. Mitrovic's late strike and Richarlison's bad luck threatened a nervy final few minutes for Spurs, but Conte's men were able to see out the win.
90' + 6' Richarlison overcomes his disappointment at not scoring by heading for the corner flag and winning a throw-in for Tottenham. The hosts take it, Fulham can't get upfield, and that's that!
90' + 4' Tottenham may only be a goal ahead, but they've got things under control. Emerson buys a free-kick from Reed to relieve the pressure on the hosts.
90' + 2' NO GOAL! TOTTENHAM 2-1 FULHAM! Richarlison's goal is chalked off as he strayed offside in the build-up. It's a shame for him. He's been at the heart of Tottenham's positive play all game.
Yellow Card
Tottenham Hotspur
90' + 1' Richarlison's booked for removing his shirt. He won't mind if his goal is given though. We're still waiting on that.
90' GOAL! TOTTENHAM 3-1 FULHAM! Richarlison finally puts the game to bed! Sessegnon races in behind Fulham's defence and puts the ball on a plate for the Brazilian, who slides in to finish and whips off his shirt in celebration. Hang on, VAR's checking the goal for offside...
88' If Fulham salvage a draw from this game, it'll be down to Mitrovic. The Fulham striker receives the ball outside the box, heads towards the D and unleashes a dipping effort that almost drops past Lloris. Tottenham's captain keeps it out, and Spurs deal with the corner.
A. Mitrović
Yellow Card
86' Mitrovic is booked for dissent after Reed's penalised for tripping Kulusevski.
Carlos Vinícius
João Palhinha
85' Fulham make another substitution too. Palhinha goes off. Their Brazilian striker Vinicius comes on.
I. Perišić
Son Heung-Min
Tottenham Hotspur
84' Tottenham substitution. Perisic replaces the industrious Son.
84' Tottenham briefly wobble after conceding that goal, almost letting in another from kick-off. Cairney gets on the end of Mitrovic's pass and shoots from the centre of the box. It's blocked.
K. Tete
83' Tete did well to find Mitrovic there, and Fulham's talisman did the rest. He's playing like a man with a point to prove this season.
A. Mitrović
83' GOAL! TOTTENHAM 2-1 FULHAM! Mitrovic scores out of nowhere! The Serbian latches onto Tete's pass, beats Romero to the left of the box, looks up, and sweeps the ball into the top right corner. We're in for an exciting end to the game!
82' Richarlison is so close to making it 3-0! Son cuts a cross back for the Brazilian who hits it venomously on the volley. It clatters against the inside of the left-hand post and back across goal, but not over the line!
80' To their credit Fulham are still looking for a goal. Tete plays a one-two with James and is furious with the linesman who decides that the ball has gone out of play off him instead of Bentancur.
D. Kulusevski
H. Kane
Tottenham Hotspur
78' Tottenham substitution. Kane heads off now that he's all but secured the three points for Spurs. Kulusevski replaces him.
76' That's Kane's fifth Premier League goal of the season, and his fourth in five appearances against Fulham. He loves playing against the Cottagers. More importantly, it's his 188th Premier League goal, which moves him above Andy Cole to third in the competition's all-time scorers list.
H. Kane
Tottenham Hotspur
75' GOAL! TOTTENHAM 2-0 FULHAM! Kane seals the three points for Tottenham! Sessegnon powers onto the loose ball in the box and smashes it into a defender. The wing-back won't be denied though, and shoots straight at Leno. The rebound lands for Kane who finishes from close range. VAR has a quick check that Kane is onside before confirming the goal.
74' Tottenham play a spot of keep-ball. Fit-again Sessegnon surges forward and finds Son, whose cross is blocked...
72' Sessegnon picks up a problem with his leg and requires treatment. Perisic warms up for Tottenham.
70' Willian's free-kick is dreadful and attracts ironic cheers. Fulham are still causing Tottenham the odd problem though.
R. Bentancur
Yellow Card
Tottenham Hotspur
69' Bentancur slides in to stop Cairney and catches the Fulham substitute. The Uruguayan boots the ball away in anger and is booked.
68' Willian gets his first touch of the ball. The former Arsenal and Chelsea man is predictably booed.
66' There are minor chances at both ends. Mitrovic heads wide from the centre of the box. Spurs then win a corner and Leno comes away with the ball.
64' Sessegnon unwisely shoots from the edge of the box. It's easily closed down and the counter briefly looks promising for Fulham. The Spurs players manage to race back into position to shut things down.
João Palhinha
Yellow Card
63' Palhinha's booked for an off-the-ball foul when he lost it for Son's chance a moment ago.
62' Tottenham are having to work for their second goal. Palhinha plays himself into trouble and Son pounces, firing a deflected effort towards goal that Leno manages to push out for a corner.
T. Cairney
Andreas Pereira
61' Fulham's last departure for now is Pereira. Cairney enters the pitch.
D. James
B. De Cordova-Reid
60' De Cordova-Reid heads off next. James is his replacement on the pitch for Fulham.
N. Kebano
60' Fulham make a triple substitution. Their new signing Willian comes on first. He replaces Kebano.
58' Son's corner comes out to Romero in the centre of the box. Leno catches the Argentine's drive.
56' Spurs again come close to making it 2-0! Richarlison scuffs Emerson's cross. Sessegnon picks up the pieces and drags a left-footed shot wide of the right-hand post. Leno gets a touch on it, so Spurs get a corner.
B. De Cordova-Reid
Yellow Card
55' Tottenham counter from the corner. De Cordova-Reid is booked for cynically bringing Son down when Spurs have five players taking on Fulham's three.
54' Fulham finally get their first shot on target. Mitrovic shrugs off a few challenges to the right of the D and shoots for the top left corner of the net. Lloris gets his left hand to the shot to tip it out for a corner. It's inconsequential.
52' Mbabu's right-footed cross is nowhere near troubling Tottenham's defence. Fulham are getting a few players ready to come on.
51' Tottenham's front three combine again. Son picks up speed and finds Kane, who moves the ball on to Richarlison. Richarlison's low drive is saved by Leno.
49' Kane knocks a pass into the path of Son down the left. Son bears down on the box and lays off to the Englishman, whose shot is blocked. Fulham deal with the initial corner, but Richarlison wins the ball back down the right and crosses for Dier, who's still forward and can't keep his effort down!
47' Kebano makes progress down Fulham's left but his cross from the byline can only sail out of play.
46' Spurs get the second half started. No changes by either side at half-time.
Tottenham have scored in each of their last 11 Premier League games now. Conte has turned them into a very good outfit, and Richarlison looks to be an excellent acquisition. Fulham need to find their talisman Mitrovic more to avoid defeat here. The Serbian had just nine touches in the first half.
Hojbjerg's finely-taken goal is the difference between these two teams at the moment. Tottenham have been the much better side, having created a bevy of decent scoring chances and hitting the woodwork through Son. They're only one goal up though, and Fulham look capable of getting back into this game if Spurs aren't careful.
45' + 6' Richarlison tracks back to help win possession for Spurs and isn't far from reaching Kane's pass from deep. The hosts look very well-drilled.
45' + 4' Sessegnon's found to Son's left, checks onto his right foot, and sweeps a decent effort wide of the right-hand post.
45' + 3' Fulham get a free-kick down their right. Pereira's cross is headed away, and Spurs come away with the ball.
45' + 2' Fulham haven't had a shot on target yet in this game. Tottenham have done an excellent job of minimising their attacking threat.
45' Sessegnon pops a pass inside in an attempt to find Son, but Fulham intercept it. There'll be six minutes of added time at the end of this first half.
44' Fulham respond to going behind by showing a little more attacking ambition. Mitrovic attacks Pereira's decent cross but can't get his head on the end of it.
42' Leno races off his line to smother a throughball with Richarlison sniffing around the box.
Tottenham Hotspur
41' That was a simple move by Richarlison and Hojbjerg, but an effective one. Richarlison already looks at home in a Tottenham shirt.
P. Højbjerg
Tottenham Hotspur
40' GOAL! TOTTENHAM 1-0 FULHAM! Spurs get the lead their play deserves! Hojbjerg plays a one-two with Richarlison to skip into the box and slots calmly into the bottom left corner.
39' Tottenham win a corner down their left. Lenglet nods a near-post header into the side netting.
38' Tete dispossesses Richarlison in the box just as the Brazilian is about to shoot. The free-kick goes Fulham's way.
K. Tete
Yellow Card
36' Tete is far too slow in taking a throw-in for Fulham. The referee shows him a yellow card, to cheers from the home fans.
34' Fulham are taking their sweet time every time the ball goes out of play. It's safe to say the Tottenham fans don't appreciate it.
32' Son hits the woodwork! Kane stands still on the edge of the box and uses his telepathic understanding with Son to find him with a cheeky round-the-corner pass into the box. The South Korean chests it down and lashes it left-footed against the crossbar and back into play! It's a shame as it would have been a lovely goal.
30' Adarabioyo uses his pace to stop Son from latching onto a throughball. Fulham will be glad their clean sheet remains intact for now.
K. Mbabu
A. Robinson
29' Fulham make that enforced substitution. Mbabu replaces the stricken Robinson.
28' Robinson hasn't recovered from the injury he picked up earlier. It looks like Fulham's left-back will have to go off.
C. Romero
Yellow Card
Tottenham Hotspur
27' Romero takes out Pereira to prevent Fulham from launching a counter-attack. The Argentine's shown the game's first yellow card.
26' Hojbjerg lofts a perfect ball over the top for Richarlison, who has the peace of mind to lure Leno off his line and lay it off with his back to goal. Kane's closed down quickly though, and the chance doesn't work out for Spurs.
24' Kebano scuffs a shot wide from the left of the box. Robinson takes a knock in the build-up and takes a while to get to his feet.
22' Son spurns Tottenham's best chance yet! Richarlison skips into the box from the left and cuts the ball back to the South Korean who shoots. On first glance, it looks like a wild miss. Actually, Ream does well to get his body in the way of the shot. Spurs' corner leads to nothing.
20' Fulham force a corner down their left. Lloris confidently catches Pereira's delivery.
19' Dier blasts the free-kick into Fulham's defensive wall. Son swings at the rebound and forces Leno to make a catch, at least.
17' Kebano bundles Richarlison over in a central position in Fulham's half. Tottenham now have a decent set-piece opportunity.
15' Tottenham are looking sharp. Kane holds the ball up and lays off to Emerson, whose low cross can't find a team-mate.
13' Fulham enjoy a short positive spell. Pereira fires wide from outside the box before Tete finds Mitrovic with a high cross towards the far post. Mitrovic nods it into his marker and claims handball. Play continues.
11' Spurs have the ball in the net. It's no goal though! Son swings a short corner in towards the penalty spot, and Kane stoops low to head the cross past Leno. The offside flag goes up straight away.
9' Emerson's cross from the right dips close enough to the near post to tempt Leno into pushing it out for a corner. It's eventually swung in to Richarlison whose far-post header is blocked. It'll be another Spurs corner.
8' Tottenham's corner doesn't lead to much as Bentancur fires high and wide from outside the box. They're building momentum though.
7' Tottenham enjoy the first chance of the game! Kane turns and shoots from just outside the box. It's heading for the bottom left corner, but a Fulham touch puts it out for a Spurs corner instead.
5' Sessegnon goes down under pressure in Fulham's box. The referee immediately signals no penalty. A quick VAR check backs him up.
3' Sessegnon's penalised for a late tackle on De Cordova-Reid. The Fulham winger bursts in behind Tottenham's defence shortly after, but Lloris successfully smothers the chance.
1' Fulham get this game underway!
As London derbies go, this one tends to be fairly one-sided. Tottenham have taken 34 from their last 39 points against Fulham in the Premier League, although both occasions they've dropped points have come in home games. Will this Fulham side be trickier opponents for Spurs?
Fulham are unchanged from their victory over Brighton four days ago. Why mess with a winning formula, after all?
Conte makes five changes to Tottenham from their draw with West Ham. Romero, Lenglet, Bentancur, Sessegnon and Richarlison are given the nod.
SUBS: Marek Rodak, Willian, Shane Duffy, Daniel James, Tom Cairney, Issa Diop, Carlos Vinicius, Nathaniel Chalobah, Kevin Mbabu.

Tottenham's visitors here are Fulham, who picked up a 2-1 win over Brighton and Hove Albion last time out. The Cottagers have had a similarly strong start to the season, picking up eight points from their first five games. It's their best start since 2012-13 and will give them plenty of confidence they can stay up this time around.
Following their 1-1 draw away to West Ham United midweek, Tottenham are looking to remain unbeaten in their first six Premier League games of the season for just the third time. The last time Spurs managed such a feat was in 2016-17 when they finished second. No doubt Antonio Conte's men would love to emulate that finish this season.
