Liverpool have crushed Leeds United in their Premier League clash, defeating the visitors 6-0 at Anfield to move within three points of Manchester City at the top of the table. The Reds were three goals to the good in the first half as Mohamed Salah scored two penalties to take his tally to 19 Premier League goals for the campaign, while he also provided an assist for Joel Matip to find the net. Sadio Mane then notched a late double with close-range finishes before Virgil van Dijk put the icing on the cake with a firm header in stoppage time.

J. Henderson
80' Henderson makes a good run into the right-inside channel and cuts a low ball back for Mane to score.
S. Mané
80' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!! MANE HAMMERS HOME FROM CLOSE RANGE!!!!! The Senegalese puts the icing on the cake for Liverpool by firing a right-footed strike past Meslier. Salah releases Henderson into space down the right-inside channel and the skipper sends a precise ball across the face of goal. Mane is left with an open goal and seizes the opening to convert.

J. Shackleton
M. Klich
46' Shackleton replaces Klich at the break for the visitors, which will see the former slot into right-back.
Leeds have been cut open with ease and it is the same story for the Whites at the back of late. They've had no answer for the Reds, and unless they are able to contain Salah, Mane and Diaz in the second half it may only get worse.
Liverpool are in complete control of their Premier League clash against Leeds United holding a 3-0 lead at the break. Two penalties from Mohamed Salah along with a strike from Joel Matip have handed the Reds a dominant advantage and they look capable of more in the second half in their bid to close the gap to Manchester City to three points at the top of the table.

37' Liverpool have space on the break once more, but Struijk does just enough to divert Alexander-Arnold's throughball away from Salah.
Mohamed Salah
Penalty Goal
35' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!! SALAH FINDS THE TOP-RIGHT CORNER!!!!!! 3-0 LIVERPOOL!!!!!!!! The Reds are surely on their way to the three points now as Salah dispatches his penalty past Meslier. The forward picks out Matip with an inch-perfect offload before he dispatches a right-footed effort past Meslier.
29' SAVE! Robertson leads a break out from the back for the home side and feeds Mane. He keeps the attack moving to Diaz, who sends a cutback towards Robertson. The Scot collects and shoots on the turn, but his effort is saved by Meslier.
28' DISALLOWED GOAL! Raphinha finishes a neat break from the visitors with a tap-in from close range, but he is offside when he finds the back of the net. James, Rodrigo and Harrison combined to great effect, the Brazilian though just moved a fraction too early at the back post.
27' SAVE! Jones takes possession in the Leeds box from an offload from Diaz. He has space to aim a strike at goal, but sends a tame effort straight at Meslier.
23' CHANCE! Diaz surges away from Ayling in the left-inside channel and has space to shoot. However, he loses his footing as he fires at goal and allows Meslier to make a simple stop.
21' Liverpool apply pressure on the visitors at the back and force a mistake. Mane then tries to release a ball into the left-inside channel for Robertson, but he just overhits his offload for a goal-kick.
19' Alisson looks for the long ball over the top for Salah, but it bounces off the surface away from the forward and behind for a goal-kick.
Junior Firpo
Yellow Card
18' Firpo slides in hard on Fabinho and goes into the book. It was not a good challenge on his compatriot.
16' This is encouraging for Liverpool as they have avoided defeat in their last 26 matches when scoring the opening goal in the Premier League dating back to 28th February 2021 against Sheffield United.
Mohamed Salah
Penalty Goal
15' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!! SALAH CONVERTS!!!!! 1-0 LIVERPOOL!!!!! The Reds take the lead as Salah fires low and hard into the bottom-right corner. The Egypt international holds his composure to send Meslier the wrong way to get Liverpool up and running.
14' PENALTY TO LIVERPOOL! Robertson's cross strikes Dallas on the hands with his arms positioned away from his body. The referee points straight to the spot.
12' Liverpool win the first corner of the game down the right flank, but Van Dijk cannot angle a header back towards Fabinho in the box and the visitors clear.
10' Diaz tries to cut a low ball back to Mane on the edge of the box, but Forshaw makes a vital interception before Diaz loses his footing and inadvertently wipes out the Leeds midfielder.
8' Van Dijk has never lost a Premier League home game at Liverpool, winning 50 and drawing eight of his 58 games at Anfield with the Reds in the competition. If he plays and Liverpool avoid defeat here, it will equal Lee Sharpe’s Manchester United record for most Premier League home games at a specific club without ever losing (59 – W47 D12)
6' Alisson loses out to James at the back for the Reds under pressure. However, the loose ball falls kindly for Matip to sweep up the danger to clear.
4' CHANCE! Mane releases Diaz in space down the left flank and he skips past two challenges to cut in on his right foot, but his curling strike hits Mane and travels behind for a goal-kick.
3' Diaz collects in the final third and exchanges passes with Robertson. There's not a lot on around the forward so he tries his luck from distance, but sends a tame effort at Meslier.
1' Van Dijk and Matip have to combine under pressure to cut out and then clear a dangerous low cross into the Liverpool box from Harrison.
1' We're under way at Anfield.
Liverpool have won their last three Premier League home games against Leeds, netting 10 goals in the process. They last won more consecutively against them at Anfield in the league between 1973 and 1978 (6).
Leeds have made two changes to their side that was beaten by Manchester United in their last out. Diego Llorente and Robin Koch are both unavailable, and are replaced in the backline by Firpo and Raphinha.
Liverpool have made five changes to their side from their win over Norwich last time out. Alexander-Arnold, Robertson, Thiago, Fabinho and Jones come into the side in place of Tsimikas, Keita, Henderson, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Joe Gomez, with the only the latter not appearing in the squad tonight.
LEEDS UNITED SUBS: Tyler Roberts, Kristoffer Klaesson, Lewis Bate, Joe Gelhardt, Charlie Cresswell, Crysencio Summerville, Liam McCarron, Jamie Shackleton, Nohan Kenneh.

Leeds will be looking over their shoulders in trepidation at the bottom of the table. The Whites are five points clear of the drop zone, but Marcelo Bielsa's men have lost three out of their last four matches. Leeds battled hard to bounce back from a two-goal deficit against Manchester United last time out, but eventually succumbed to a 4-2 defeat at Elland Road. They face a massive challenge to avoid another defeat tonight.
Liverpool have a huge opportunity tonight to close the gap to Manchester City at the top of the Premier League to three points. Whereas the Reds brushed Norwich City aside in their last outing, City's defeat at the hands of Tottenham has blown open the title race. Jurgen Klopp's men are in prime form having reeled off eight wins on the bounce. They must keep up the momentum against the White tonight to capitalise on the opening created at the weekend.
Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Liverpool and Leeds United at Anfield.
