8th Finals
UEFA Europa League

That's all for tonight. Thank you for tuning in!
With the win, Benfica have confirmed their spot in the knockouts alongside group leaders, Paris Saint-Germain. Questions will certainly be asked about Allegri, whose side have been underperforming for quite some time now. The Italian side are currently headed to Europa, but there is still a chance that Maccabi Haifa could finish above them, with the two sides currently on three points in Group H. It'll all be decided on the final matchday next week.
What a match! Benfica were relentless, and unforgiving in the first half, making Juventus look like amateurs as they scored three goals, with Juve only managing to score one from a corner. The second half looked like it would be similar to the first with Rafa Silva scoring his second of the night, but with some substitutions, Juventus woke up near the end, scoring two goals in as many minutes. At 4-3, they continued to push for a late equaliser, but it was too little, too late.
João Mário
90' + 4' Benfica make one last change as they try and sustain the pressure with Joao Mario coming off for Chiquinho.
90' We are getting four minutes of added time!
David Neres
Gonçalo Ramos
87' Ramos makes way for Neres in these dying minutes.
P. Musa
87' Rafa comes off to a standing ovation from the Benfica fans, with Musa taking his place.
86' RAFA HITS THE CROSSBAR!!!! The whole stadium held their breath as Juventus lined up for a corner, and after a couple of times, Benfica managed to clear. On the counter, it was Rafa against Szczesny, and while the Benfica man was able to beat the keeper, the ball clattered off the post.
E. Fernández
Yellow Card
84' Fernandez's tackle crunches the ankle of Soule and he's booked promptly. He will miss the next Champions League match.
84' Juventus have won just one of their seven European games against Benfica (D1 L5), a 3-0 victory in the UEFA Cup in March 1993 with goals from Jurgen Kohler, Dino Baggio and Fabrizio Ravanelli.
A. Bah
81' Benfica make their first change as Bah makes way for Gilberto. Bah, of course, takes his sweet time exiting the pitch, trying to waste as much time as possible.
W. McKennie
79' GOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!! WHAT HAS JUST HAPPENED? It went from 4-1 to 4-3 in a matter of minutes. It's almost the exact same move that started Juve's second goal with the ball coming into the box. This time Vlachodimos tries to prevent the ball from reaching the target. He makes the save, but fails to catch the ball, and after a scramble, McKennie reacts the quickest to fire it home. Could it be?
S. Iling-Junior
77' It was a great cross in by Iling-Junior, who raced down the flank before launching it into the box!
A. Milik
77' GOAAAAL!!!! JUVENTUS GET THEIR SECOND! A good cross in finds Milik in the centre of the box, and he fires it home to cut the deficit down to two. Can Juventus get back in this? Benfica 4-2 Juventus!
72' From a Benfica corner, Juventus win the ball. They have the perfect opportunity to counter, but all of a sudden, a flurry of red shirts sprint back to defend, and Juventus barely make it past the half-way line. Story of the match.
S. Iling-Junior
F. Kostić
70' Iling-Junior comes on for Kostic. Let's see if Allegri has something up his sleeve here.
M. Soulé
D. Vlahović
70' Vlahovic, Juve's sole goalscorer of the night, comes off for Soule.
66' The referee is forced to intervene as Locatelli pushes Rafa from behind. He opts to not dish out any cards after having a word with them both.
Yellow Card
62' Danilo gets booked for a foul, his leg being way too high in an attempt to get the ball. He's lucky he isn't sent off for that, to be honest.
60' Good save by Szczesny, who saves Ramos' shot with his foot. It ricochets off of Aursnes, but the Polish keeper tips it over the bar.
F. Miretti
J. Cuadrado
60' And Cuadrado, who has had a night to forget, makes way for Miretti.
Alex Sandro
L. Bonucci
60' A couple of changes for Juve, with Sandro coming on for Bonucci.
55' Things have calmed down a bit. Benfica have given themselves plenty of breathing room, so they're just knocking the ball around. Juventus look utterly hopeless in possession.
Álex Grimaldo
50' Moments before, Bonucci had stolen the ball off of a Benfica player and tried to pass it forward, but Grimaldo intercepted, leading to the goal. It's night and day when it comes to the effort these two teams are showing.
50' GGGGGGGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL!! BENFICA HAVE SCORED FOUR AGAINST JUVENTUS! The through ball from Grimaldo is perfect for Rafa, who just ships it over the keeper and into the back of the net. It's just too easy at this point!
50' Juventus could be eliminated in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League for the first time since the 2013-14 season, under Antonio Conte. They had qualified for the knockout stages of the competition in eight consecutive seasons, coming into the current campaign.
A. Milik
M. Kean
46' Juventus unsurprisingly make a change at the break, with Kean making way for Milik.
1' We're back for what promises to be a big second half!
As it stands, Juventus will crash out of the Champions League, which would be a disastrous campaign for the Italian giants. If Benfica can remain calm, and sustain the pressure that Juve will surely bring in the second half, then they will qualify for the knockout stages of the competition for a second consecutive season.
What a half for Benfica! They dominated the opening minutes, and were deservedly in front through a Silva goal in the 17th minute. Despite not playing at their best, Juventus responded in the 21st minute after Kean's goal was cleared for offside. Things started to fall apart for Juve after Cuadrado conceded a penalty, handling the ball in the box. Joao Mario scored Benfica's second from the spot before assisting Rafa for the third, a clever flicked finish with his back foot.
45' Benfica are having fun right now. After some good passing, Fernandez drills a shot from outside the box. It's a bit too easy for Szczesny to get down low and make the save though.
42' Juventus have completely abandoned their 3-5-2 shape at the minute. It almost looks like they're playing in a 3-1-6 as they commit bodies forward and look to find a goal to get back in this.
40' The camera pans to Allegri and he seems to be grimacing as he watches this Juventus side. It's not looking good for him at the minute.
João Mário
35' The goalscorer becomes the assister as Joao Mario crosses it into the box from the right. That's seven open play crosses for Benfica inside 35 minutes.
35' IT'S THREE!!! BENFICA ARE RUNNING RIOT IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE!! Joao Mario crosses it to Rafa, who cleverly finishes with the heel of his right foot!! This is getting embarrassing for Juventus now! Benfica 3-1 Juventus!
33' Benfica have won all three of their home European matches against Juventus, a 2-0 win in the European Cup semi-final in 1968, 2-1 win in the UEFA Cup in 1993 and 2-1 victory in the Europa League in 2014. Let's see if they can make it 4/4!
João Mário
Penalty Goal
28' GOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLL!!!!! Benfica 2-1 Juventus!! Joao Mario smashes the ball in the top left corner, sending Szczesny the wrong way. Benfica have restored the lead, and Cuadrado shakes his head as the home side celebrate!
26' WE HAVE MORE DRAMA HERE! THE REFEREE HAS GIVEN A PENALTY FOR A HANDBALL ON CUADRADO! Juventus are not happy, with the team claiming that there was nothing the player could do there to move his hand, but the referee is not having it.
M. Kean
21' GGGGOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLL! Benfica 1-1 Juventus! It's confirmed. After an extremely long VAR check that took several of minutes, the goal is deemed onside. It came from Juventus' first corner of the match, as Kean heads it home from extremely close range. There seemed to be a question as to whether there was an interference with the keeper, but the VAR team has deemed it legal.
20' Juventus have scored a goal, but we are having a very lengthy VAR check for off-side!
E. Fernández
17' It's a great cross from Fernandez, who had all the time and space in the world to pick out where he wanted to place it.
António Silva
17' GOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLL! Benfica 1-0 Juventus! The last 17 minutes have been all Benfica, and it is a deserved early lead. From a short corner routine, Rodriguez crosses it in and Silva heads it at the near post. Gatti was defending him, but with the Juve behind him, rather than in front, it was a relatively easy chance.
14' Another good chance for Benfica! They counter, catching Juve on the break, but Aursnes slows it down, choosing to lay it off to Fernandez. He akes a shot, but Gatti blocks, and out it goes for a corner.
10' Kean goes down after a collision with Silva. He stays down for a while, but is fine to continue.
9' Lovely football here from Benfica! Rafa with a fantastic flick onto Aursnes, who passes it back, but the winger can't seem to find anyone in the box.
7' Some early nerves from both teams here. As a reminder, Juventus need a win if they want any chance of making it out of this group, and Benfica will qualify for the knockouts should they collect the three points.
3' Early chance for Benfica, but Cuadrado heads Joao Mario's cross out for a corner.
1' The referee has blown the whistle, and we're off at the Estadio da Luz!
The teams are out, and we are moments away from kick-off!
Enzo Fernandez is the Benfica player who has completed the most passes (234), made the most tackles (16) and recovered possession most often (36) in the UEFA Champions League this season.
Juventus have a list of injuries including Angel Di Maria, Leandro Paredes, Paul Pogba and Federico Chiesa meaning that youngsters like McKennie and Kean get the start tonight.
Benfica's line-ups this season have been short of surprises, and today is no different. Only Joao Cancelo has made more assists (six) than Benfica's Alejandro Grimaldo (four) in the Champions League as a full-back so it is no surprise that the latter starts tonight for the Portugese side. Bah takes the other flank, leaving Gilberto to a spot on the bench.
SUBS: Alex Sandro, Arkadiusz Milik, Fabio Miretti, Carlo Pinsoglio, Daniele Rugani, Matias Soule, Mattia Perin, Samuel Iling-Junior, Nicolo Fagioli.
JUVENTUS (3-5-2): Wojciech Szczesny; Danilo, Leonardo Bonucci, Federico Gatti; Juan Cuadrado, Weston McKennie, Manuel Locatelli, Adrien Rabiot, Filip Kostic; Dusan Vlahovic, Moise Kean.
SUBS: Gilberto, Lucas Verissimo, David Neres, Diogo Goncalves, Chiquinho, Mihailo Ristic, John Brooks, Petar Musa, Joao Victor, Henrique Araujo, Paulo Bernardo, Helton Leite.
BENFICA (4-2-3-1): Odysseas Vlachodimos; Alexander Bah, Antonio Silva, Nicolas Otamendi, Alex Grimaldo; Enzo Fernandez, Florentino Luis; Fredrik Aursnes, Rafa Silva, Joao Mario; Goncalo Ramos.
It's all to play for in Group H of the Champions League. If Benfica win tonight, they progress through to the Round of 16. Juventus, on the other hand, are facing elimination, having been embarassed last matchday by Maccabi Haifa, leaving them five points adrift of Benfica, and Paris Saint-Germain.
Hello, and welcome to live coverage of the Champions League fixture between Benfica and Juventus at Estadio da Luz.
