Kerala Blasters will play their third final in eight seasons on Sunday...

Kerala Blasters have reached the final of the Indian Super League (ISL) after a gap of five seasons and will face Hyderabad FC in the final on Sunday.

Only David James and Steve Coppell have managed to lead the Blasters into an ISL final before and now Ivan Vukomanovic has followed suit.

Kerala have been unlucky twice in the final, against ATK FC twice (2014 and 2016). The Serbian coach will hope third time is the charm as they gear up for the final on Sunday.

Kerala Blasters got off to a difficult start under Vukomanovic but as the season progressed, the side improved on the pitch and eventually qualified for the semifinals and subsequently for the final.

Here, we take a look at five memorable matches Kerala Blasters featured in the 2021/22 season.

  • Alvaro Vazquez, Kerala Blasters

    Mumbai City 0-3 Kerala Blasters

This was the second win of the campaign for Kerala Blasters which came after six matches into the season. They were outsiders going into the match against defending champions Mumbai City FC who were in good form. But the Men in Yellow pulled off a surprise, defeating Mumbai City 3-0. Goals from Alvaro Vazquez, Sahal Abdul Samad and Jorge Pereyra Diaz guaranteed three points for the Kerala club.

  • Sahal Abdul Samad, Kerala Blasters, ISL 2021/22

    Kerala Blasters 3-1 Mumbai City

In the second phase tie against Mumbai City, Kerala Blasters once again scored three goals. It was the penultimate match of the league stage and the winner would have confirmed their berth in the ISL play-offs. With such high stakes on offer, Ivan Vukomanovic's side once again reigned supreme over the Islanders. They did it style, winning the match 3-1. Sahal Abdul Samad and Alvaro Vazquez (2) were on target for the Yellow army while Diego Mauricio scored for the Islanders.

  • Kerala Blasters 3-0 Chennaiyin

With the race for the play-offs heating up, Kerala Blasters were under immense pressure to perform against their rivals Chennaiyin FC. Kerala required a win to maintain their grip in the race for a play-off spot. And they turned up in style, beating Chennaiyin FC 3-0, courtesy a Jorge Pereyra Diaz brace and a strike from Adrian Luna.

  • Adrian Luna Kerala Blasters ATK Mohun Bagan ISL 8

    FC Goa 4-4 Kerala Blasters

Having already secured qualification to the play-offs, Kerala Blasters went into their final league stage match against FC Goa with a relaxed mindset. And they started the game well, roaring into a two-goal lead, thanks to a brace from Jorge Pereyra Diaz. However, the team ended up trailing 4-2, thanks to a hat-trick from FC Goa's Airam Cabrera.

With just two minutes remaining in normal time, the Men in Yellow showed their class. Two late strikes from Vincy Barretto and Alvaro Vazquez ensured a thrilling end to the game.

  • Adrian Luna Kerala Blasters Jamshedpur ISL 8 play-offs

Jamshedpur 1-1 Kerala Blasters (Playoffs second leg)

After a morale-boosting 1-0 win from the first leg, Kerala Blasters had to negotiate an expected fightback from Jamshedpur FC in the second leg. And Ivan Vukoanovic's men managed to score early into the match, thanks to Adrian Luna. Though Jamshedpur hit back to level terms on the night, Kerala held on valiantly to seal their berth in the final for the first time in five years.
