South Africa head coach Hugo Broos has named his starting XI to take on Angola in a friendly on Sunday at the Mbombela Stadium.
After beating Mozambique 2-1 at the same stadium on Thursday, Broos has another chance to test his players, as their focus is firmly on the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in March 2023.
How Bafana are lining up:
Although he committed an early error that almost handed Mozambique an opener, Williams starts again.
He has been preferred again ahead of Veli Mothwa and Melusi Buthelezi.
The Sekhukhune United fullback starts again.
He grabbed an assist against Mozambique, and this should motivate him as he faces Angola.
He scored against Sierra Leone in September, started against Mozambique, and keeps his place as they entertain Angola.
His error gave Mozambique the lead, but as he starts again, he should hope for a far better performance in order to atone for his mistake.
The experienced defender will partner with an equally experienced De Reuck at the heart of the Bafana’s defence.
The 25-year-old midfielder has been a regular starter under Broos.
He will man the midfield alongside Timm as they look to control that department and contain the opponents effectively.
Le Roux was given his South Africa debut against Sierra Leone, came on for Themba Zwane against Mozambique, and earns a start as Bafana face Angola.
Zwane continues to make his presence felt on the national team since he was recalled.
He was one of the outstanding players against Mozambique and is expected to do even better against Mozambique.
The Kaizer Chiefs forward starts as a left forward as Bongokuhle Hlongwane drops to the bench.
Lakay came on for Monnapule Saleng late in the second half of the last game, but this time around, he starts.
Saleng is among the substitutes.
Mozambique managed to keep him at bay for almost the entire match.
He, however, remains the focal point in Bafana’s attacking department.
