That close-run 3-2 aggregate victory sends Sevilla into the last 16 of this season's Europa League. This knockout qualifier was dramatic to say the least, and even more so given how comfortable the Spanish side had been for the first 60 minutes of this game, and the entire 90 in Seville. They're unsure as to who they'll play next, but as a side whose history in this competition is richer than most, Jorge Sampaoli's side will certainly back themselves to go all the way once more.

PSV captain Luuk de Jong was, as ever, right in the thick of things against his former employers. Scoring the first goal and winning the initial header for the second either side of another disallowed finish, the striker had six shots in total, five of which came in the box and mustered an xG of 0.48. He had two further efforts blocked, 12 touches in the box, and completed 14 final-third passes. Contesting a huge 20 duels, second only to the 24 of his teammate Simons, De Jong won 12, including a massive 11 of 16 in the air, and he also won possession three times, once in the final third as PSV came so close to the unlikeliest of comebacks. Leader.

Well, what a rollercoaster ride that turned out to be!! The snoozefest of a first-half gave way to an ultimately chaotic second, as PSV came to within one goal of extra-time! Early Sevilla chances for En-Nesyri and Bryan Gil suggested that they'd coast into the next round, but PSV had other ideas late on. Fabio Silva's introduction changed the game, winning the header for De Jong's opener and smashing home the second after great close control from Xavi Simons. These massive contributions made it 3-2, and came either side of another potential assist which was chalked off for offside! The game descended into chaos as full-time neared, with late bookings for time-wasting, dissent, and a post-final whistle red card for the latter; Mauro Junior the recipient after the referee blew up earlier than expected to confirm Sevilla's place in the next round!

Simons tees up Silva to shoot, and the substitute complies to lash home his side's second goal!! 2-0 on the night, and now just 3-2 on aggregate as the injury time increases ever more!

90' + 4' There's some pushing and shoving going on in the Sevilla box as PSV wait to take this long free-kick, and the referee is eventually able to calm tensions before play continues!

90' + 1' SAVED!!! Simons turns and drives towards goal before teeing up Til. On the edge of the box, he shapes to shoot before passing wide to Bakayoko, whose well-executed finish is tipped over by Dmitrovic!

90' SAVED!! A loose ball drops for Rafa Mir on the edge of the box, whose low effort into the far corner is well stopped and held by Benitez!

88' BLOCKED!!! Bakayoko crosses to the far post but Nianzou heads away, only for the ball to drop for Veerman whose first-time effort deflects away off Fernando!

87' OVER!!! A cross-field pass into the Sevilla box is brought down by Bakayoko, but a block from the visitors sends the ball towards Veerman. 25 yards from goal, he looks to place a shot into the top-right corner, but the ball clears the crossbar by mere inches and lands atop Dmitrovic's net!

81' BALL IN THE NET!!! PSV think they've got back to within touching distance, but the flag denies them!! Fabio Silva is found searing down the right, and cuts the ball back into the box. Simons dummies and De Jong fires it home, but the near-side linesman makes the offside call as they rush back to the halfway line!!

80' Veerman's long-range effort is blocked but PSV continue to pile forward. The ball skews up into the air and Nianzou smartly heads back to Dmitrovic, who will be happy to take his time releasing the ball.

79' PSV break down the left but De Jong is held back by Nianzou from joining his teammates as they rush forward. Sevilla do eventually clear, but the referee makes sure to come back and book the centre-back for the prior foul.

78' PSV have won all four of the games in which they've taken the lead in this season's Europa League, and although this tie has two games to account for, it'll give the hosts hope off adding at least two more to force extra time!

Ramalho's long ball forward is won superbly in the air by Fabio Silva, and De Jong shows great strength to shrug Fernando off the ball in the air before bringing it down and stabbing it past an onrushing Dmitrovic! Far from the prettiest goal you'll ever see, but one which gives PSV hope as they go 1-0 in this game, making the aggregate score 1-3!

76' OVER!!! A long ball is won in the air by Fabio Silva, and De Jong latches onto the loose ball to smash a half-volley over the crossbar!

74' WIDE!!! PSV counter down the left and Til switches play to the right where Bakayoko is calling for the ball. He steps inside and shoots with his left foot, firing a low effort just wide of the near post!

73' BLOCKED!!! A smart one-two between Acuna and Gil allows the latter to race into the box at speed. He drills a shot low, but Branthwaite gets across to block it high, wide and behind for a corner!

71' SAVED!! Mauro Junior's cross from the left evades everyone before Bakayoko pops up at the far post. He side-foots a shot goalwards which Dmitrovic does well to parry, before slicing the rebound wide of the far post!

68' WIDE!!! Rakitic sets his sights on goal once more, trying his luck from the edge of the box. It's a good, looping effort, but flies wide of Benitez's right-hand post!

67' OFF THE BAR!!! Sevilla come so close to opening the scoreline after a scramble in the PSV box! Torres recovers a failed PSV clearance and turns the ball back to Rakitic, who lashes a shot beyond Benitez and rattles the crossbar in the process!! PSV then clear, but to say they're all-but home and hosed in this tie, Sevilla have had by far the better share of chances!

65' Sevilla make a fast break as Bryan and En-Nesyri link up down the left wing, but the latter loses out to Branthwaite's challenge and PSV recover possession.

64' WIDE!!! The corner is drilled into the centre of the box, where Ramalho's header flicks it on. Til closes in at the back post, but has such a narrow angle to aim at and can only send the ball into the side netting!

63' A Til free-kick into the area beats everyone before De Jong brings it down at the far post, but his snatched effort deflects behind for a corner off Navas.

60' En-Nesyri is clattered by Ramalho as he looks to bring down a long clearance from Dmitrovic, and Sevilla will be in no hurry to take this free-kick as their place in the next round comes further and further into view.

58' OVER!! Mwene hangs a cross to the far post, where De Jong arrives late and sends a header inches over the crossbar via a deflection!

56' A PSV corner is glanced clear by Nianzou and comes to Simons on the edge of the box. The 19-year-old playmaker looks to pick out the far corner from 20 yards, but puts his shot straight into Dmitrovic's gloves.

55' Branthwaite looks to catch En-Nesyri offside but fails to, however he does get back to recover a throughball aimed for Navas, and clears his lines accordingly.

53' The second half has already seen three shots inside the first eight minutes, one of which has been on target, and let's hope for more of the same to make up for the first!

51' With the game just 50 minutes old, PSV have already racked up 11 fouls, which beats their Europa League average of 10 per 90 minutes!

49' CHANCE!! A rushed Fernando clearance is headed back into the Sevilla box by Til, and De Jong tees up Simons to shoot, but the youngster can't get a shot away before the ball is smothered by Dmitrovic!

48' SAVED!!! A first real chance of the match, and it's Sevilla who nearly profit from it. Acuna's inside ball is cleverly flicked on by Bryan, and En-Nesyri bears down on goal before firing a shot which Benitez parries wide at his near post!

47' WIDE!!! Good hold-up play from En-Nesyri gives Bryan space to run into, and he dribbles to the edge of the box before dragging a low drive wide of the far post!

46' En-Nesyri kicks off for Sevilla, and we're back underway at Philips Stadion!

The sides return for the second half, and it's now or never for PSV to get something out of this tie!

Bryan Gil has been the one player so far to look capable of sparking some magic into this game. The on-loan Tottenham winger has had a shot in the box blocked, as well as completing 10 passes in the final third. He's engaged in 10 duels so far, the most in the game, and has won seven of them, including via three take-ons. He's also won two free-kicks, and has made a tackle and two interceptions for his side, who look well on their way to the next round as we approach the final quarter of this two-legged tie.

A rather drab first 45 minutes come to an end with no goals on the scoreline, and very little action of note in either 18-yard box. PSV needed to start strong and were bright without really threatening, before the game became a sluggish battle dominated by a crowded midfield area. Sevilla have actually looked the most likely to score, with Navas given plenty of space down the right and Bryan making some positive forward runs on the other side. It's not too late for PSV to save this tie, but going by that first-half showing, they're very, very unlikely to turn things around.

45' A cross-field ball to the back post is headed across the face of goal by De Jong, but Fernando gets the crucial next contact and Simons gets back to recover it, before a collision with Sevilla's Jordan wins PSV a free-kick in their own box!

44' BLOCKED!!! Acuna's cross from the left is headed away by Branthwaite, but Bryan recovers the ball. He again steps between two defenders before firing off a shot, but Ramalho gets in the way to block the ball behind for a corner!

43' Jordan loses the ball in his own defensive third with plenty of PSV players waiting to pounce, but Til is penalised for the challenge and concedes the free-kick.

41' CHANCE!!! Bryan drops a shoulder and cuts inside, leaving two defenders in his way as he darts into the box. He goes down under pressure from Ramalho, who gets the last touch to send the ball behind for a corner!

39' Rakitic tries to pick out the run of Torres into the PSV box from the left, but Veerman slides across and gets a crucial touch which sends the ball behind for a corner.

37' Sevilla are currently winless in nine away matches in Europe, failing to score in five of those. This is their longest ever winless run away from home in Europe.

35' Sevilla win a free-kick which Rakitic crosses into the box, but Acuna's flick-on loops into the air and is easily collected by Benitez for PSV.

33' Acuna takes a very long time indeed to take a routine throw-in, and after another ball is thrown on the pitch, the wing-back is shown a yellow card for time-wasting.

31' It's neck and neck in every sense of the word so far, with both sides yet to register a shot on target. PSV have completed 194 passes, just five more than Sevilla's 189, while the hosts also edge possession by 51 per cent to 49.

29' Sevilla work the ball down the left and Bryan plays it out to Acuna. He drills a low cross into the area with options arriving, but PSV goalkeeper Benitez does well to get down and hold the threatening ball.

28' There's been very little in the way of attacking chances so far, which is surprising, particularly from the hosts given the aggregate scoreline. Sevilla have had plenty of the ball, and PSV hardly look capable of putting a functional attack together!

26' PSV have scored seven goals without reply in their last two European home matches, beating Zurich 5-0 and Arsenal 2-0 respectively. They haven’t won three home games in a row without conceding in major European competition since December 2009.

24' Bakayoko's cross from the right is spilled by Dmitrovic, allowing Simons to scoop the ball away! Van Aanholt looks to play it back to Simons inside the Sevilla box, but the final ball is a poor one and the visitors get it away!

23' Nianzou fouls Simons to gift PSV a free-kick, and Veerman crosses into the area. De Jong gets the first contact and heads the ball across the face, but Fernando is back to hack it clear for Sevilla.

21' Til slides a throughball forward which Simons chases hard, but he bundles Nianzou over on his way and concedes a free-kick!

19' Despite being the team sat on a 3-0 lead, Sevilla are being given much more free time and space on the ball as they enter the final third. Torres and Rakitic are continually finding pockets of space to run into, while Navas has had the freedom of Eindhoven down the right-hand side so far.

5' Sevilla's 3-0 win in the first leg was the first ever competitive meeting between these two sides, and was the Andalusian side's largest margin of victory in a major European knockout match since a 3-0 win over Basel in March 2016. It was PSV’s biggest defeat in a major European knockout match since February 2015 vs Zenit, when they lost by the same scoreline.

A comfy three-goal lead sees Sevilla line up in a rather defensive 5-4-1 formation, though their back five only contains one natural centre-back! Youssef En-Nesyri is the only one of their first-leg scorers to keep his place, with Lucas Ocampos on the bench and Nemanja Gudelj out injured.

Current PSV captain Luuk de Jong returned to the club from Sevilla in the summer of 2022, and needs a massive performance against his former club to inspire a comeback from the hosts. He was instrumental in Eindhoven’s group stage victory over Arsenal in the autumn, though with forwards Noni Madueke and Cody Gakpo both sold in January, the veteran Oranje striker will be relied on more than ever.

In contrast, Sevilla’s finished a distant third in their Champions League group, and are currently 12th in La Liga, but a rapid-fire burst of three goals either side of half-time puts them in firm control of this tie. Youssef En-Nesyri opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time, before Lucas Ocampos and Nemanja Gudelj struck inside the first 10 minutes of the second to give Los Hispalenses a comfortable advantage ahead of their trip to Eindhoven.

PSV performed strongly in their Europa League group, only finishing second to Arsenal by two points, however their performance in the first leg gives them one hell of a mountain to climb – they lost 3-0 in Seville, and need to score at least four goals to go through without extra-time here.
