Commentary

That's all from us, we'll see you later on in the knockout stages! Until then though, it's goodbye.
Bayern march into the last eight of this season's Champions League, retaining their 100 per cent win record in the competition so far, and dispatch PSG in the process. The Parisiens see their European tour come to a sudden and short end once more, with the talents of Messi and Mbappe hardly given a sniff against the Munich machine which just keeps on rolling.
Joshua Kimmich drove Bayern to victory from the heart of midfield, winning every ball and spraying passes across the pitch to stretch PSG's defence all over the place. The German international had more touches and passes than any of his team-mates, completing 25 of the latter in the final third and creating a game-high four chances in the process. Contesting 24 total duels, Kimmich won seven, including two of two dribbles, and alongside Leon Goretzka prevented many a PSG attack through the middle: winning possession three times with two tackles and interceptions apiece, and also winning three free-kicks, equal only to Messi. Engine.
Bayern coast into the quarter-finals at the expense of PSG, putting the Parisians to the sword in a ruthless second half that saw the visitors outclassed in Munich. A tetchy first 45 minutes gave way to a second period dominated by the Bavarians, who were denied a goal thanks to VAR picking up on the most fractional of offsides. Choupo-Moting soon had redemption though, notching the crucial opener after Bayern won possession high up the pitch, and the lead was doubled late by Gnabry on the counter-attack. PSG did create the odd chance, but with Mbappe marked out of the game for large periods, Bayern came to the fore, creating chances galore and recording a deserved 3-0 win on aggregate.
90' + 6' FULL-TIME: BAYERN MUNICH 2-0 PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN (3-0 on aggregate).
A. Hakimi
Yellow Card
90' + 5' Hakimi desperately takes down Kimmich in midfield and is shown a late yellow card, compounding a frustrating match, tie, and overall European campaign for Paris Saint-Germain.
90' + 4' BALL IN THE NET!!! Sane cuts through the middle to tee up Mane, who finishes with aplomb, but the Senegalese is a fraction offside and the goal will not stand!
90' + 3' CHANCE!!! Sane again look to turn provider as he slips a throughball into Mane's path, but it's a touch too heavy for the forward to latch onto before Donnarumma gathers for the visitors.
90' + 2' SAVED!! Sane drives at the PSG defence before freeing up Davies, whose left-footed effort is parried by the outstretched foot of Donnarumma!
90' We'll play five added minutes of added time in Munich, as another unsuccessful Champions League campaign comes to an end for PSG.
João Cancelo
Assist
89' What a double substitution from Julian Nagelsmann, as Cancelo and Gnabry link up to seal Bayern's passage into the last eight. Cancelo's run and pass were superb, and the finish from Gnabry was routine, from a side purring like the most well-oiled of machines at the moment.
S. Gnabry
Goal
89' GOOOOOOAAAALLLL!!!! The quarter-finals, signed, sealed and delivered!! PSG throw numbers forward but Bayern win possession back, and Cancelo makes a break down the right. He links up with his fellow substitute Gnabry via a fantastic throughball, and Gnabry dinks the ball over Donnarumma to find the back of the net! What an impact made late on by the pair, and that 2-0 scoreline gives Bayern a 3-0 threshold on aggregate!
88' CHANCE!!! Zaire-Emery's clever touch takes him beyond Stanisic down the left, and he drills a cross into the area. Mbappe overruns the ball and can't get a touch, before Davies slides in to swipe the ball clear and deny Hakimi a shooting chance!
João Cancelo
T. Müller
86' Muller is also withdrawn, and Joao Cancelo will see out the last few minutes as Bayern look to keep PSG at arm's length.
S. Gnabry
K. Coman
86' Coman hasn't had the impact he did in the first leg, but has still be crucial to Bayern maintaining control of this tie, and the Frenchman comes off late for Serge Gnabry.
85' Zaire-Emery threads a ball into the box for Hakimi to make something of, but Upamecano times his challenge perfectly to dispossess him, and just about keeps the ball in play to clear!
85' There's a coming together between Ramos and Muller on halfway, but the two Champions League veterans can only smile and laugh as the Bayern forward is helped back to his feet.
84' PSG's Zaire-Emery is the youngest player in Champions League history to appear in the competition on his birthday - what a way to spend your 17th!
82' WIDE!!! Messi's corner is again directly to Ramos, who rises at the back post to head agonisingly wide of the far post, with Sommer beaten!
S. Mané
J. Musiala
82' The ever-impressive Musiala is latest off for Bayern, as the hosts bring Sadio Mane on for a late cameo.
Juan Bernat
Nuno Mendes
82' PSG also make an alteration at left-back, as Mendes is replaced by Juan Bernat.
H. Ekitike
Vitinha
81' PSG make more late changes to reinforce their attack, and Vitinha is the latest brought off, for Hugo Ekitike.
79' BLOCKED!! Coman races clear of the chasing pack as he latches onto Upamecano's long ball, and crosses for Sane in the box. Pereira chases hard, and gets a crucial first touch, which prevents Sane from releasing a controlled shot as the ball bounces behind!
77' Sane darts forward and looks to have been tripped in the box by Bitshiabu, but the referee thinks nothing of it and calls play-on!
W. Zaïre-Emery
Fabián Ruiz
76' Ruiz is withdrawn in PSG's latest substitution, and teenage playmaker Warren Zaire-Emery, who started the first leg at the Parc des Princes and actually turns 17-year-old today, replaces him!
75' WIDE!!! Kimmich's cross-field pass to the left releases Sane into open pasture. He cuts in-field and races into the box, but slips as he attempts his final shot and drags the ball wide of the near post!
73' Hakimi looks to have found crossing space down the right, but only has Mbappe as an option in the box. The Moroccan looks for Messi on the edge, but his floated pass is cut out by Davies!
71' Choupo-Moting has five career goals in the Champions League knockout rounds, three of which have come against his former side PSG.
69' CHANCE!!! Messi's attempt from a PSG corner is cleared, and Coman bolts forward on the break for the hosts. He links up with Sane, who has Davies searing ahead to the left, but the substitute looks to find Coman instead and his pass is knocked behind by a recovering Mendes - who had taken the initial corner!
L. Sané
E. Choupo-Moting
68' The goalscorer Choupo-Moting comes off having more than played his part for Bayern, and Leroy Sane takes his place to add even more pace to this dynamic Bavarian frontline.
67' SAVED!!! Messi heads a half-cleared ball back into the area, which Mbappe brings down and shoots on his left foot, drawing a good near-post save from Sommer!
66' PSG have been amongst the favourites to win the Champions League for many a year now, but in this season's competition, they are the only side left still standing who yet to keep a clean sheet in it this season.
64' SAVED!!! What a stop from Sommer!!! PSG win a corner and Messi's pinpoint delivery is straight onto the head of Ramos. His bullet of an effort looks certain to ripple the net, but Sommer tips the ball over acrobatically to preserve Bayern's two-goal advantage!
63' Choupo-Moting and Goretzka bring up their fourth goal and fourth assist respectively in this season's Champions League, for a Bayern side who've won all seven of the European games they've scored first in this campaign.
L. Goretzka
Assist
61' The pressing there from Bayern had PSG's panicked defenders running in quicksand, and Goretzka's quick thinking to find Choupo-Moting gave the ex-PSG striker the easiest of finishes.
E. Choupo-Moting
Goal
61' GOOOOOAAAALLL!!!! They won't be denied this time!!! Bayern's relentless pressing forces a rushed pass out of defence from Bitshiabu to Verratti, who is easily dispossessed by the double act of Muller and Goretzka. The latter comes up with the ball and squares to Choupo-Moting, who slots the opening goal home to double Bayern's advantage on aggregate! 1-0 on the night, and 2-0 overall, and it's going to take something special for PSG to claw their way back from here!
60' Goretzka looks to find the net with a low effort from the edge of the box, but the ball takes a nick off Bitshiabu to roll behind for a Bayern corner.
58' Stanisic's long ball is chased by Coman, but Donnarumma's well out of his box and jumps to head the ball away and into touch.
57' Mendes becomes the second PSG defender to go down injured, after being caught rather late by Choupo-Moting. He looks okay to carry on eventually, but Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann is furious after his side are pressured to kick the ball out of play and stop the game!
55' Mbappe steps inside Davies on the right edge, but his touch in-field gives Goretzka the time to hammer the ball back towards his own goal, and he's lucky Sommer was alert there to stop the ball careering into the wrong net!
53' NO GOAL!!! It's still 0-0, as Choupo-Moting is denied by the finest of margins! His glanced header is judged to have been helped goalwards by Muller, who is half a yard offside. The VAR officials deem his contribution, which may amount to the slightest of touches, enough to rule out the goal, and Bayern remain just the one goal up on aggregate!
52' BALL IN THE NET!!! Bayern think they've got the opener!!! Davies is trapped out on the left and cuts back to find Musiala. He whips a cross right into the goalmouth, and a Choupo-Moting flick turns the ball beyond Donnarumma and into the bottom corner!! The Cameroonian races away to celebrate, but his celebrations are soon hushes by the referee not giving the goal straight away! We've not seen the last of this one...
51' CHANCE!!! Musiala cuts inside to beat Hakimi and Ruiz before playing in Choupo-Moting, but he goes down in the box under pressure from Pereira before he can shoot! PSG can't clear properly though and it comes back to Bayern inside the area, but Kimmich's drilled effort smashes straight into his offside striker Choupo-Moting, and the free-kick goes PSG's way!
49' Messi's chipped pass into Bayern's box is headed down by Vitinha, and Mbappe's first-time shot on the turn is blocked by Stanisic! He looks to follow in, but Upamecano is able to clear for the hosts!
48' A poor Donnarumma clearance is seized upon by Bayern's forwards, but Muller's wide pass to an arriving Davies is headed clear by Pereira.
46' Muller resumes proceedings at the Allianz for Bayern, who just need to hang on to their lead to secure safe passage to the next round!
E. Bitshiabu
N. Mukiele
46' In what must be one of the shortest mid-game displays in Champions League history, Mukiele comes off after replacing Marquinhos in the first half - to be replaced by youngster El Chadaille Bitshiabu for PSG.
The teams are back out for the second half, and it's all on PSG now to rescue their European season in the next 45 minutes - at least!
Whilst Mbappe's running and movement in behind has certainly stretched Bayern, Messi has been pulling all the strings in the final third for PSG. The Argentine has had two shots from inside the box, yielding an xG of 0.26, and has completed nine final-third passes in total, more than any of his team-mates. Messi has engaged in nine duels, winning four including half of his four dribbles, and has also won a free-kick as he chases his 800th career goal. Will it come in the next 45, or 75, minutes?
The first half comes to an end with the scoreboard yet to be altered, and as Bayern still hold their 1-0 aggregate lead, they're now just 45 minutes away from the quarter-finals of this season's Champions League. PSG tested Sommer early in the Bayern goal, with Mbappe, obviously, looking to race clear and score at every given opportunity. Messi also engaged the goalkeeper before Bayern did likewise at the other end, with Musiala having their best chance, though Sommer nearly gifted Vitinha an opener late in the half, with his blushes spared by De Ligt clearing off the line. It's been wildly more open than the first half of the first leg, and PSG have brought much more to the party this time around, and deciding the outcome of the second half is anyone's guess.
45' + 2' HALF-TIME: BAYERN MUNICH 0-0 PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN (1-0 on aggregate).
45' + 1' Mbappe, wearing the captain's armband for PSG since Marquinhos' withdrawal, attempts to burn Upamecano for pace around the outside, but the Bayern defender slides in to prod the ball into touch.
45' We'll play two added minutes at the end of this entertaining - but crucially, goalless - first half.
43' Musiala takes on two in the box and looks to shoot, but his effort takes a wild deflection off Mukiele and flies out for a throw!
43' A loose De Ligt touch allows Messi room to scoop a pass forward for Mbappe, but Sommer charges out of the goalmouth to dive on the ball with the PSG forward closing in at some speed!
41' CHANCE!!! Goretzka charges through the middle and finds Davies in space to his left, but the Canadian takes too long to cross or shoot, and his eventual cut-back is blocked behind by Mukiele for a corner!
40' Bayern Munich have won 15 of their last 17 Champions League home games, with their only defeat in that run coming in the quarter-finals of season 2020-21. Their opponents? Paris Saint-Germain.
38' OFF THE LINE!!! What a chance for PSG, and what on earth was Sommer thinking? The Bayern goalkeeper takes a generous amount of time on the ball and looks to step away from two pressing forwards, but his heavy touch sees him dispossessed by Vitinha! The midfielder shoots for the empty goal, but in slides De Ligt to hook the ball off the line and prevent a calamitous equaliser in this tie!
38' Hakimi and Verratti play a one-two on the edge of the Bayern box, and the former's cross is headed down by Goretzka. De Ligt looks to clear, but shanks the ball straight out of play, putting immediate pressure back on the Munich rearguard!
N. Mukiele
Marquinhos
36' Marquinhos isn't looking at all well and eventually goes down, bringing the game to a stop. He looks to have injured his hip, so Nordi Mukiele comes on for the PSG captain in what will be a worrying blow for Christophe Galtier's side.
34' Coman wins a free-kick down the right flank after Mendes dangles out a leg, but Kimmich's low cross to the front post is smothered confidently by Donnarumma.
32' SAVED!!! Davies steps in-field and finds Musiala in the box, who takes a fantastic first touch to spin away from Pereira. He looks to find the far corner with a left-footed shot from a tight angle, but Donnarumma reacts well to parry the shot behind for a corner!
30' Bayern break forward and Musiala looks to release Davies down the left, but his wide pass to the Canadian is woeful and floats straight out of play.
28' Bayern's last three wins over PSG have all been by the slim margin of 1-0, with Coman netting the winner in two of those - the first leg of this tie, and of course the behind-closed-doors final of the 2019-20 Champions League.
26' Coman beats Ramos to a long wide pass and crosses to Choupo-Moting in the centre, but the ball is too close to Donnarumma and the PSG goalkeeper catches with ease.
25' CHANCE!!! Mendes bursts forwards and cuts the ball back to Messi, whose deflected first-time shot sparks chaos in the box! It comes back to the Argentine, whose second effort is stopped by Sommer, and De Ligt's intervention causes Messi's third shot to ricochet into the goalkeeper's gloves!
24' A smart volleyed pass wide from Vitinha finds Mendes on the left, but his cross towards an arriving Hakimi is headed clear by De Ligt.
23' Messi collides with Goretzka in midfield and has stayed down, but eventually returns to his feet after the referee has words with both sets of players.
21' Mbappe was twice denied by the offside flag in the first leg at home, and has scored in both Champions League away games he's played against Bayern Munich, netting three in total. No player has ever scored in three consecutive visits to the German side in the competition.
19' WIDE!!! Some lovely one-touch play between Messi, Marquinhos and Mbappe results in the latter running through on goal, but a heavy touch forces him wide and his tight-angled shot smashes into the side netting!
18' Bayern Munich have been eliminated just twice in the 22 previous occasions they've won the first leg of a Champions League knockout tie, going out to Real Madrid and Inter Milan in 2001-02 (quarter-final) and 2010-11 (round of 16) respectively.
16' SAVED!!! Kimmich links up with his midfield colleague Goretzka, who tries his luck from the edge of the box, but the low shot doesn't have anywhere near enough power on it to trouble Donnarumma, who easily gathers the ball to his left!
14' Marquinhos' long ball forward finds Mbappe on the run, but Sommer is well out of his goal and comes to claim the ball. He does so, but is clattered by Mbappe and spills the ball! The PSG striker plays on and rolls the ball into the empty net, but the whistle had already been blown for the foul!
12' Musiala breaks forward and releases Choupo-Moting, who looks to profit from a Pereira slip on the edge of the box. As he cuts onto his right foot though, Verratti slides in to scoop the ball away, and recovers possession for PSG.
11' Mbappe finds Messi in a pocket of space, and he releases Hakimi to cross from the right. The ball flashes past Sommer, but floats wide and behind for another Bayern goal kick.
10' After winning four of their first five Champions League meetings with Bayern, PSG have won just two of their last seven against them, and need to win this one by more than one goal if they're to progress without a penalty shoot-out.
8' Mbappe takes a long pass and attempts to get around the outside of Upamecano, but gets shrugged off the ball by his international team-mate and it goes behind for a goal kick.
7' Choupo-Moting gets into a tangle with Verratti and takes the PSG midfielder to ground, conceding a free-kick just inside the centre circle.
6' This is the 13th Champions League meeting between Bayern Munich and PSG, with each side winning six of the previous 12. PSG haven't faced a side more often than the Bavarians in the competition's history.
4' Musiala plays a one-two with Davies on the edge of the box, but Ruiz intervenes to hammer the ball into touch before the Bayern youngster can let fly!
2' SAVED!!! Bayern are wide open at the back and Ruiz plays Mbappe into open space down the left. Forced wide by the recovering defence, the Frenchman drills a low shot across the face, which Sommer gathers well!
1' Messi kicks off for PSG, and the second leg of this Champions League round of 16 tie is underway!
The teams head out onto the pitch, with the Allianz Arena crowd hoping, and expecting, a Bayern victory in this high-stakes knockout match!
Les Parisiens have been dealt a bitter blow ahead of this game, and their entire season in general, with the news that Neymar could well miss the rest of the campaign following ankle surgery. However, with a fit, firing Kylian Mbappe scoring five times since the first leg, and Lionel Messi chasing his 800th career goal, PSG are sure to cause the hosts a problem or two at the back.
Bayern winger Kingsley Coman followed up his winner in the 2020 Champions League final to down PSG in the first leg, and starts from the right against his former employers once again; with another ex-Paris player, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, starting up front. He's the Bavarians’ top scorer this season in all competitions.

PSG’s league form since the first leg has been imperious, winning three games on the spin and scoring 11 goals in the process. Bayern lost 3-2 to Borussia Monchengladbach directly after winning in Paris, but have reacted since to record victories over Union Berlin and Stuttgart.
Bayern dominated much of the first leg at the Parc des Princes, with former PSG player Kingsley Coman scoring the only goal of the game eight minutes into the second half. However, a late PSG push for an equaliser, sparked by the introduction of a returning Kylian Mbappe, could spur them on to score first here, which would blow this tie wide open.
