The nine-time African champions have now lost their last five matches under the tutelage of the 66-year-old American tactician.

Nigeria women’s 2-0 defeat to Japan in Thursday’s international friendly has fuelled the anger of fans who want coach Randy Waldrum fired.

A second-half brace from Mina Tanaka downed the Super Falcons as they continue their preparations for the 2023 Fifa Women’s World Cup billed for Australia and New Zealand.

Heading into the fixture against the former World Cup winners, the West Africans had lost their last four games.

Against the Asians, many expected the Nigerians to return to winning ways. However, they stuttered at the Kobe Stadium without captain Onome Ebi and Barcelona star Asisat Oshoala.

Angered by the team’s poor run of results – their worst ever, enthusiasts have stormed social media to ask the American to quit his role or get axed.
