Orlando Pirates players warming up, February 2022
The Buccaneers will be looking to return to winning ways in the league when they face the Chilli Boys on Wednesday

Pirates were boosted by the return of Olisa Ndah from injury against Simba of Tanzania in the Caf Confederation Cup clash on Sunday.

However, Vincent Pule and Paseka Mako remained sidelined due to their respective injuries, and they are expected to miss the game against the Chilli Boys.

The Buccaneers have no suspension concerns as they look to bounce back to winning ways in the PSL having drawn 0-0 with Baroka FC on April 12 in their last game in the competition.

GOAL takes a look at how Pirates could start against the Chilli Boys at Orlando Stadium.

  • Richard Ofori, Orlando Pirates, March 2022

    GOALKEEPER - Richard Ofori

The Ghanaian shot-stopper is in great form at the moment having kept five clean sheets in his last six games across all competitions for Bucs.

Ofori will be eyeing his third successive clean sheet in the PSL when he faces the Chilli Boys.

  • Bandile Shandu Orlando Pirates 2022.

    RIGHT-BACK - Bandile Shandu

The attack-minded full-back seems to have lost his scoring touch lately having failed to score when he found himself in scoring positions against Simba.

Shandu, who has netted six goals across all competitions, remains a key player in the Bucs defence and he is expected to start against Chippa.

  • Innocent Maela, Orlando Pirates, December 2021

    LEFT-BACK - Innocent Maela

The Bafana Bafana international will keep his place in the team with Mako unavailable.

Maela, who has featured in just four league games this season, played well against Simba and he provided the assist for the winning goal.

  • Olisa Ndah, Orlando Pirates, October 2021

    CENTRAL DEFENDER - Olisa Ndah

The dreadlocked central defender marked his return to the starting line-up with a great display against Simba.

Ndah was just unlucky not to score against the Reds of Msimbazi while also being rock solid at the back.

  • Ntsikelelo Nyauza, Orlando Pirates, March 2022

    CENTRAL DEFENDER - Ntsikelelo Nyauza

The experienced defender surprisingly got the nod ahead of Happy Jele ahead of the clash with the Reds of Msimbazi and he didn't disappoint.

Nyauza, who marshalled the Bucs defence with aplomb, is most likely to captain the team once again when they square off with the Chilli Boys.

  • Abel Mabaso, Orlando Pirates, November 2021

    CENTRAL MIDFIELDER - Abel Mabaso

The versatile player flourished in his role as a defensive midfielder over the weekend.

A defender-come-midfielder, Mabaso could continue in this position as a shield that protects the Pirates defence.

  • Fortune Makaringe, Orlando Pirates, October 2021

    CENTRAL MIDFIELDER - Fortune Makaringe

The former Swallows FC academy player produced arguably his best performance in the current season over the weekend.

Makaringe dominated the midfield battle and he will be determined to produce a similar display against Chippa in order to keep his place in the team.

  • Thembinkosi Lorch, Orlando Pirates, February 2022

    RIGHT MIDFIELDER - Thembinkosi Lorch

The skilful winger showed glimpses of his old self in the win over the East African giants as he constantly unsettled the visitors' defence with his sharp movement.

Lorch could be the player who unlocks Chippa's stubborn defence which has kept clean sheets in two of their last four PSL games.

  • Deon Hotto, Orlando Pirates, November 2021

    LEFT MIDFIELDER - Deon Hotto

Undoubtedly Pirates' most consistent attacker in the current season.

Hotto's delivery from set-pieces and wide areas might be key to the Buccaneers securing a victory against the Chilli Boys.

  • Terrence Dzvukamanja, Orlando Pirates, October 2021

    SECOND STRIKER - Terrance Dzvukamanja

The left-footed attacker was recalled to the team Simba and he was also unlucky not to score having gotten himself in goalscoring positions.

Dzvukamanja could be handed another starting berth with the Buccaneers in need of goals having netted just one goal in their last two games.

  • Kwame Peprah, Orlando Pirates, December 2021

    MAIN STRIKETR - Kwame Peprah

The hard-working marksman was the hero for the Buccaneers over the weekend as he netted the goal which earned Bucs the win in regulation time.

However, Peprah has failed to score in his last three matches in the PSL and will be determined to end his goal drought.
