Manchester City do not always make things easy for themselves in crunch Champions League games, but they made it look easy against seasoned experts Bayern Munich and head into the second leg of their quarter-final with a dream 3-0 scoreline.

City's defence made life miserable for Bayern's attack before Rodri unlocked a tight game with a superb strike from outside the box.

Bayern improved after the break and it was a nervy opening 15 minutes to the second half for City fans, who have seen their side let many a lead slip at the Etihad Stadium on Europe's biggest stage.

But Erling Haaland set up a simple header for Bernardo Silva to double City's advantage before the Norwegian volleyed in a third goal to break yet another record, becoming the first player to play in the Premier League to score 45 goals in a season in all competitions - and he still has two months left to further inflate his enormous goal tally!

    Linked up well in attack but should have opened the scoring, hitting a loose ball at the leg of Sommer when the goalkeeper was on the floor.

    Worked tirelessly and intelligently. Helped set up Silva's goal with a combination of effort and pizzazz, chasing down Upamecano and then releasing Haaland with a backheel.
