Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion announced Enock Mwepu has been forced to retire at the age of 24 following the diagnosis of a hereditary heart condition.
The midfielder was taken ill while on a flight to join the Zambia squad in the recent international break and had to be rushed to hospital before returning to his club for cardiac tests.
Mwepu joined the Seagulls from Red Bull Salzburg in the summer of 2021 and managed to play for his Premier League side 27 times and scored three goals.
It is the news that has moved football lovers emotionally and they did not hesitate to express their feelings on their respective social media outlets.
