    Insightful details from the weekend

In this feature, GOAL picks out some of the under-the-radar stats you may have missed this week - and explains what they mean for Africa's biggest stars.

  • Ola Aina Danilo Torino Juventus 2021-22

    Ola Aina

Aina played in Torino’s 1-1 draw with Lazio, featuring for 74 minutes before going off for Wilfried Singo.

The wide defender has now featured in back-to-back Serie A games for the first time since December, signalling a return to favour for the ex-Chelsea man who had not played for the Turin outfit in over three months.

  • Emmanuel Dennis

    Emmanuel Dennis

Dennis finally ended his extended run without scoring for Watford, although it was not enough to change the 2-1 defeat by Brentford.

The forward’s shot count stood at 11 since heading home Ismaila Sarr’s cross at Aston Villa, with those efforts interestingly coming in only five appearances.

Having ended his extended drought, Watford supporters will hope they do not have to wait so long for the marksman’s 11th Premier League goal.

  • Bounou

    Yassine Bounou

Bono’s run without a clean sheet for Sevilla extended to four games on Sunday night with Real Madrid coming from two goals down to beat the Andalusians 3-2 in Seville.

Karim Benzema’s late winner for Los Blancos means the Morocco international has conceded three times in a La Liga game for the first time this season.

Was this a one-off or something to worry about?

  • Karl Toko Ekambi Lyon 2021-22

    Karl Toko Ekambi

A top Olympique Lyon showing saw Peter Bosz’s troops thrash Bordeaux 6-1 and their Cameroon star was among the goals.

Toko Ekambi netted twice in the rout, strikingly the first time the forward scored more than one goal in a Ligue 1 game this term.

Having netted two braces in the Europa League, it is somewhat surprising that it took Ekambi so long to score twice domestically.

Toko Ekambi is now up to 10 league goals this term.

Despite Lookman netting in successive Premier League appearances for the second time this season, the Leicester City attacker could not prevent a 2-1 defeat by Newcastle United.

Interestingly, the RB Leipzig loanee’s results in the initial run where the Foxes lost at Manchester City but defeated Liverpool mirror this latest run for the winger.

Lookman has also scored in each of the aforementioned four games with his only shots on target, demonstrating the efficiency of the Super Eagle.
