Instead of having games played on Easter, the Croatian league opted to move them to Monday and Friday, only to provoke further anger from some fans

'Football is a religion', many greats have stated, and to many fans it certainly does take up that role. For supporters of a different belief, however, there often comes a time when they have to choose between the two.

Faced with such a dilemma this week, fans of Dinamo Zagreb have made it known that they have unanimously opted for the more traditional definition.

With Easter coming up, the Croatian league opted to avoid playing games on Sunday, instead scheduling the next round of fixtures for Friday and Monday.

That decision provoked more offence, though, as Dinamo's famous ultras group the Bad Blue Boys have opted to boycott the visit to Lokomotiva Zagreb as it falls on Good Friday.

"Given that the next away match on schedule falls on Good Friday, the BBB group will not be present at that game," a statement read.

"It is a shame that the league officials see nothing controversial about playing games on the anniversary of Jesus Christ's death and thus we will not participate."

Dinamo are currently second in the Croatian top flight, four points behind leaders NK Rijeka.
