Commentary

That's all from us, we hope you enjoyed the game. Until next time, and next season, goodbye!
Liverpool did their best, but City's five-minute comeback sees the title stay in Manchester for this season. Jurgen Klopp's men were superb as the game wore on, but City were just too strong in their game. Not the best final day for Wolves either, as they drop to 10th after big wins for Leicester City and Brighton and Hove Albion see Bruno Lage's side leapfrogged.
Matip's header and subsequent assist for Salah to score Liverpool's second gave the Reds their best shot at the title. It wasn't to be, but the centre-back was immense in the absence of Van Dijk, having three shots, two key passes, winning 83.3 per cent of his 12 duels, and winning possession 11 times, via four tackles, and two interceptions and clearances apiece. Solid.
It's all over, and despite Liverpool eventually grinding out the win, City's amazing comeback from two goals down sees them lift the Premier League title! Liverpool finish second by just a single point, breaking the 90-point mark and ending up empty-handed once again! What a season, and what a pair of teams at the top of the Premier League tree.
90' + 4' FULL-TIME: LIVERPOOL 3-1 WOLVES.
90' + 4' It's all over at the Etihad, and City are champions, regardless of Liverpool's result!
90' + 2' SAVED!!! Alexander-Arnold's low cross is deflected into Salah's path, but his glancing header is held by Ruddy!
90' + 1' We're into four minutes of stoppage time at the end of this one, and will Liverpool finish the game as champions?
Trincão
L. Dendoncker
90' Dendoncker's been brilliant for Wolves in this game, but he comes off now for Francisco Trincao.
Roberto Firmino
Assist
89' Good play from Firmino and Robertson all-but confirms the Liverpool win, but City's lead against Villa is still keeping them on top of the table.
A. Robertson
Goal
89' GOOOAAALLL!!! Liverpool have another!!! Robertson races into the box from the left and plays a one-two with Firmino, and slides in to stab the ball beyond Ruddy to make it 3-1 to Liverpool!
88' Mane is put into space down the left by Robertson, who crosses for Alexander-Arnold at the back post, and he plays in Salah but his weak effort is easily blocked by Boly!
86' Buckle up for the final few minutes of this pulsating match, and the season, with Liverpool now having the three points they needed but reliant on Villa to score again against City!
J. Matip
Assist
84' Matip's initial header looked to be in, but he reacted brilliantly to put the ball on a plate for Salah to slot home a potential winner.
Mohamed Salah
Goal
84' GOOOAAALLLLL!!!! Liverpool have their goal!!! A Matip header from the corner is half-cleared off the line by Jimenez, but Matip heads it back to Salah, who prods home a crucial goal in this title race!!! 2-1 to the Reds, and it's going to be one hell of a final few minutes here!
83' BLOCKED!!! Alexander-Arnold finds Diaz with a peach of a diagonal ball, and he cuts inside and shoots, but Coady blocks it right at the last for a Liverpool corner!
82' STOPPED!!! Ait Nouri surges down the left, before cutting inside and shooting. It's a good effort too, that Alisson reaches low down to his left, and holds the shot!
81' More news from elsewhere as City have turned it around to go 3-2 up, and as it stands it's their title to lose!
80' SAVED!!! After Salah has a shot blocked, Wolves race up the other end and Jimenez feeds Dendoncker. He's forced wide but cuts inside to shoot, and Alisson saves the low shot!
79' Manchester City have just equalised against Villa, and that puts even more pressure on Liverpool to win this one! With both sides level it's as you were in the title race, but Liverpool will still win it if they find a winner!
77' As if the nerves weren't bad enough inside this stadium, City have pulled one back against Villa, teeing us up for a final 15 minutes that will see off plenty of fingernails!
75' CHANCE!!! What a chance for Wolves! Neves' ball forward from the right wing puts Jimenez into space, but his final ball across goal, which beats Alisson, is just a fraction ahead of Hwang and he can't put it in!
74' WIDE!!! Hwang spreads the ball wide to Neves, who crosses back in for the South Korean, and his low header bounces just wide of the near post!
73' Liverpool counter at speed but the final ball again goes astray, and Henderson catches Ait Nouri as the Wolves left-back brings the ball out of defence.
71' OVER!!! Wolves come forward as Neves picks out Hwang in space. He drives into the box and shoots, with the effort tipped over by Alisson!
Roberto Firmino
N. Keïta
70' Keita comes off for Liverpool, who needing a goal more than ever now, bring on Roberto Firmino!
70' BLOCKED!!! Alexander-Arnold cuts inside Gomes brilliantly, before firing a left-footed shot goalwards that hits the midriff of Boly and goes behind!
69' A huge roar from the stands as news filters through that Villa have a second, through former Liverpool man Philippe Coutinho! This final day drama just does not let up!
68' WHAT A TACKLE!!! Keita puts Salah through on goal, and the Egyptian cuts inside onto his left foot. Before he can shoot though, Boly races across and slides in to win the ball brilliantly!
67' Ait Nouri whips a cross in from the left, and Konate misses it swinging wildly before his teammates are able to recycle possession!
66' Liverpool sear forward at pace, but Salah's lob to Mane is cut out and Ait Nouri is able to win a throw from a Salah deflection.
64' SAVED!!! Alexander-Arnold finds himself in shooting space and fizzes a swirling shot from distance, that is parried by Ruddy! Salah follows in and looks to find the far corner, but chips the ball over the bar!
62' Wolves have lost 17 of their last 19 away league games against Liverpool, winning the other two both by a 1-0 scoreline, in January 1984 and December 2010 respectively.
60' Diaz drives down the left and looks to cross for Salah, but it's a poor final ball that Wolves can easily clear.
Mohamed Salah
Diogo Jota
58' Here he comes! The League's top scorer, and a current Liverpool legend, comes on, as Jota is replaced by one Mohamed Salah.
57' Coady is down on the deck after blocking a Diaz shot, and Liverpool are thwarted yet again by Wolves' compact defence.
55' Henderson chips a ball into the box for Milner, who heads it across for Mane, but Ruddy gets a hand to it and Gomes clears!
53' CHANCE!!! Alexander-Arnold plays in Mane, who goes down in the box. It bobbles up for Jota, but the ball hits Gomes' trailing leg and it bounces away for a goal kick!
52' Alexander-Arnold cuts inside and dribbles into the box. All options are closed off from him though, and the final ball ricochets off Boly and Wolves clear.
50' BALL IN THE NET!!! Liverpool look to have taken the lead as Jota plays in Mane. He dinks it over Ruddy, into the net, and the stadium explodes, but the flag is up to correctly rule the goal out for offside!!! What drama here!
49' Liverpool are unbeaten in all six of their closing day Premier League games under Jürgen Klopp, winning the last five in a row. Their last defeat on match-day 38 came in 2014-15 under Brendan Rodgers, a 6-1 loss at Stoke City.
47' Boly arrives at the back post for Ait Nouri's crossed-in free-kick, and goes down under pressure from Konate, but the referee waves play on!
J. Matip
Yellow Card
46' Matip tugs back Hwang as the Wolves forward looks to spark an early attack, and concedes a free-kick in a dangerous position, which he is booked for.
46' The second half is underway, and it's do-or-die time for Jurgen Klopp's men!
J. Ruddy
José Sá
46' Sa won't return in goal for Wolves either, and substitute keeper John Ruddy comes on!
J. Milner
Thiago Alcântara
46' Thiago will not return for the second half through that unfortunate injury, and James Milner will replace him.
The teams return for the second half, and the last 45 minutes of this enthralling season will soon be upon us!
Thiago ran Liverpool's midfield with aplomb in that first half, setting up Mane's equaliser and having two shots. He's made 45 passes in total, contesting seven duels and also competing three tackles and an interception. He did come off just before the half-time whistle though, suggesting that unless he is 100 per cent fit, he won't return for the second half.
The first half comes to an end, and what a half it's been! Wolves took an early, shocking lead through Neto, but he's since been forced off injured and the Reds have equalised. It's been one-way traffic for the hopeful champions at times, but with Manchester City losing elsewhere, Jurgen Klopp's men need to win this one to win the title as the clock on this season ticks down!
45' + 6' HALF-TIME: LIVERPOOL 1-1 WOLVES.
45' + 5' A slight delay in play as Thiago trudges off for Liverpool. There are no substitutes prepped to come on, so Liverpool will likely see out the half with just 10 men as their Spanish midfielder receives treatment off the pitch.
45' + 3' Konate slips under pressure from Hwang, and Wolves have a chance to break away again, but Robertson's back in cover to re-gain possession for the Reds.
45' + 1' We're into four minutes of added time at the end of this first half.
45' Sa and Neves are both down for Wolves, and there's a possibility that Bruno Lage's side will have to make three injury-enforced changes in the first half alone!
44' Keita's one-touch pass looks to have put Jota into space on the right-hand byline, but Gomes slides in with a brilliantly timed tackle to win the ball cleanly and bring it back for Wolves!
43' Liverpool's high press looks to keep Wolves penned into their own defensive third, but Gomes brilliantly beats Jota before spreading it wide to Ait Nouri, although his ball forward for Hwang goes to no-one.
41' Liverpool surge clear on the counter after repelling two Wolves corners, but Robertson's final ball across to Jota is a poor one and the visitors intercept possession!
39' WHAT A SAVE!!! Jonny's brilliant ball finds Hwang on a clear run through to goal, but his low shot is tipped around the post by Alisson! What a stop from the Reds keeper!
38' SAVED! Alexander-Arnold's cross floats onto the head of Mane on the edge of the box, and he knocks it towards goal only for Sa to catch!
38' The home crowd rises despite no goals here, but it's because Aston Villa have taken the lead at Manchester City through Matty Cash! The impetus is now on the Liverpool players to make that opportunity count!
36' Keita is put into space down the right and floats in a cross, but it's over everyone's heads and goes out of play.
35' Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 22 Premier League home games, scoring 53 goals and conceding just 10. If they avoid defeat here, it will be the fifth time they’ve gone through an entire Premier League campaign without losing at home, the joint-most of any team.
33' BLOCKED!!! Diaz finds Mane centrally, who beats Moutinho before shooting from the edge of the area. It's a good effort too, but a Gomes block takes the sting out of the shot and Sa can gather.
32' WIDE!!! Thiago and Robertson are running the show at the moment. The former's shot from a headed away cross is blocked, and comes out to Robertson, whose run into the box is thwarted before Thiago drives the rebound wide!
31' Liverpool look to catch Wolves out with a quick corner routine, but it's cleared by Wolves and Jimenez's ball to Hwang sees the ball go out over the sideline.
30' Forward come Liverpool again as Keita tees up Alexnader-Arnold to cross. He does so from the right, but Coady's strong header takes it away from Diaz and out of play.
28' CHANCE!!! Robertson's cross to the back post is headed down for Mane, but his effort is blocked by Boly! Henderson picks it up and chips it left for Robertson, but his volley on the run floats over the crossbar!
27' Hwang takes on Matip and looks to cross from the left, but the Liverpool defender follows him all the way and forces it out for a goal kick.
26' That's Mane's seventh goal on the final day of a Premier League campaign – only Harry Kane with eight has netted more among players currently playing in the division.
Thiago Alcântara
Assist
24' What a piece of ingenuity that was from Thiago! That flick around the back, with the back of his foot, caught the Wolves defence off-guard, and Mane was in the exact right place to apply the finishing touch!
S. Mané
Goal
24' GOOOAAAALLLL!!! Liverpool equalise!!! Thiago brilliantly flicks Konate's pass into Mane's path, who drives into the box and slots it over the diving Sa and into the back of the net! They still need another to lead, but the Reds are back on track here, 1-1!!!
Hwang Hee-Chan
Pedro Neto
22' Neto is forced off by that injury, so Hwang will replace him up front for Wolves.
20' Wolves' goalscorer Neto is down on the deck after picking up a knock in a challenge, and with Hwang Hee-Chan being readied to come off, Neto's match looks to be coming to an end.
18' WIDE!!! What a chance!!! Wolves break at speed as Neves picks out a flying Neto. He runs down the left and tees up Dendoncker arriving in the box, but his left-footed effort flashes just wide of the post!
17' Wolves are winless in six Premier League games, their longest run under Bruno Lage. They last had a longer run without a league victory between December 2020 and January 2021, but should the scores stay the same, they'll have claimed one hell of a scalp to close out the season!
15' CHANCE!!! Liverpool come forward in numbers again as Robertson feeds Keita on the edge of the box. It's a packed box too, as Keita finds Jota, but his shot on the turn is blocked by Boly and cleared by Gomes!
14' BLOCKED!!! Liverpool fly forward as Alexander-Arnold crosses low into the area. It flicks up off Gomes into Coady's midriff, and Keita lashes in a shot that is blocked for a corner by Boly!
13' CHANCE!!! Robertson's defence-splitting ball finds Diaz on the run. He flashes the ball across the face of goal, but there's no one in Red present to tap the ball home and Wolves survive!
12' When playing their final game of a league season at home, Liverpool are unbeaten in 15 matches since losing 2-0 against Arsenal in 1988-89 in one of the most famous finales to a top-flight campaign. That early Neto goal suggests this one is shaping up to be a classic too!
10' SAVED!!! Diaz is put through on goal by a delightful ball forward, and he looks to slide the ball underneath Sa. Sa makes himself big though, stopping the shot, and Boly clears at the second attempt!
9' Neto streaks down the left and crosses into the box, but a deflection off Matip takes the ball into Alisson's gloves.
8' Diaz finds Jota in the box, who looks to cut inside and shoot, but he's crowded out by his former Wolves teammates and can't get a left-footed shot away.
6' WIDE!!! Diaz crosses from deep on the right, and Matip arrives late in the box. He glances a header towards goal, but it misses the post by mere inches!
5' Robertson squeezes a ball forward looking for Mane, but Coady gets in the way to hack it behind for a corner!
R. Jiménez
Assist
3' What a kick from Sa, and what a ball from Jimenez! Liverpool started on the front foot, but Wolves caught Konate napping and now lead the game!
Pedro Neto
Goal
3' GOOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLLLL!!!!!!! Wolves take the lead!!!! A long kick from Sa is brought down by Jimenez, and he smashes the ball across goal to an unmarked Neto who taps it home!!! An early twist in this game, which Wolves now lead 1-0!!!
2' Robertson whips in a cross for Jota to connect with at the back post, but it's just a fraction too hard and swerves behind for a goal kick.
1' Wolves kick us off, and we're underway for the final time this season!
The teams are out onto the pitch at Anfield, and one of the two decisive games in the Premier League title race is just moments away from kick-off!
First-choice Jose Sa is back in the Wolves goal, whilst the defensive-minded Leander Dendoncker is back in midfield too. Two important inclusions for the visitors, which could well limit Liverpool's attacking output, and impact the final twists in this Premier League title race.
Liverpool make seven changes from their late victory over Southampton, with a fit-again Sadio Mane returning to spearhead their attack. His fellow talismans Mo Salah and Virgil Van Dijk are on the bench, providing the Reds with some electrifying options as this crucial, crucial game progresses.
WOLVES SUBS: John Ruddy, Ki-Jana Hoever, Marcal, Daniel Podence, Trincao, Yerson Mosquera, Fabio Silva, Chiquinho, Hwang Hee-Chan.
WOLVES (3-5-2): Jose Sa; Willy Boly, Conor Coady, Tote Gomes; Jonny Otto, Leander Dendoncker, Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho, Rayan Ait Nouri; Pedro Neto, Raul Jimenez.
LIVERPOOL SUBS: Caoimhin Kelleher, Virgil Van Dijk, James Milner, Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, Curtis Jones, Takumi Minamino, Konstantinos Tsimikas, Harvey Elliott.

Wolves lie in eighth and are unable to climb any higher, but they’ll want to end their season on a positive note, particularly to avoid being overtaken by Leicester and Brighton, both of whom are within three points of the Wanderers.
It’s now or never for Jurgen Klopp’s Reds, with Liverpool just one point behind Manchester City going into the final game of the season. They’ll need to better City’s result against Aston Villa if they’re to have any hope of lifting the title, ideally by winning, as they trail the Citizens by a goal difference of six, too.
Hello, and welcome to this fixture on the final day of the Premier League season, as Liverpool take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield.
