That's all from us tonight; thank you for tuning in!
Spain are now in the Nations League finals despite their blip earlier in the week against Switzerland. This win may not have been perfect, but it'll be a huge confidence booster, especially ahead of the World Cup. Portugal played well, but their lack of goals tonight was worrying, despite the abundance of chances. Santos needs to figure out his best front three ahead of his side's group stages in Qatar.
Portugal came to regret all the opportunities they wasted today. Ronaldo was especially wasteful, and it begs the question whether he should still be starting for his national team. Spain were not at their best, especially in the first half, but they went full-on attack in the final minutes of the game, and Morata only needed the one chance to hammer home the goal, and solidify his side's appearance in the Nations League finals.
João Félix
Yellow Card
90' + 6' Felix gets a yellow for a clattering foul.
90' + 4' The Portuguese crowd here is whistling and booing at every opportunity. They are obviously not happy with how this game will likely end.
90' And we're getting five minutes of added time.
90' RONALDO MISSES! A golden chance to equalise, but Ronaldo's shot at the near post is saved.
João Félix
Rúben Neves
89' Felix comes on for Dias in a last-ditch effort from the hosts to grab a goal.
Nico Williams
88' Williams could have tried to score, but with Costa closing in on him, he made the best decision to head it towards an open Morata.
Álvaro Morata
88' GOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!! THEY LEFT IT LATE BUT AS OF RIGHT NOW, SPAIN ARE HEADING TO THE FINALS!! A cross in which Williams heads it down to Morata, who hammers it home! Portugal 0-1 Spain.
Nuno Mendes
Yellow Card
83' Mendes gets booked for rushing Spain into a free-kick. The fans whistle at the decision very loudly.
81' Spain are throwing everything at this now as they look for a goal that will take them to the Nations League finals.
Diogo Jota
79' Jota comes off for Vitinha.
Rafael Leão
William Carvalho
78' Carvalho makes way for Leao.
75' Costa stretches for a big save on Morata's shot!
74' Williams with an instant impact for Spain, as his shot is probably the closest his side have got to scoring. It loops towards goal, but Costa is able to make the save.
Nico Williams
Ferran Torres
73' Torres also makes way for Williams.
João Mário
Bernardo Silva
73' Portugal's first change of the night, as Silva comes off for Mario.
72' RONALDO CAN'T EVEN GET A SHOT OFF! That was Portugal's golden chance! Some great play from the hosts sees Jota lay it off to a wide open Ronaldo in the box. The striker is just too slow though, and he doesn't even shoot before Gaya comes from behind and dispossesses him.
70' SO CLOSE FOR PORTUGAL! From a free-kick, Carvalho lays it off to Dias who takes a shot! It's on target, and it has beat Simon, but Carvajal is able to send it over the bar for a corner.
67' Spain win a corner that's taken by Pedri. It's cleared, but only as far as Rodri, but his attempt is well wide.
66' Spain failed to register a shot on target in a first half of consecutive games for the second time in all competitions since at least May 2006, the first since March 2016 under Vicente del Bosque.
Yeremy Pino
Pablo Sarabia
60' The visitor's final change is Sarabia, who comes off for Pino.
60' Pedri also comes on for Koke.
Carlos Soler
60' Some changes for Spain, as they look to have an impactful final thirty minutes. First, Soler makes way for Gavi.
56' Portugal's resulting free-kick, which is meant as a cross into the box, sails right into the arms of Simon.
Dani Carvajal
Yellow Card
55' Carvajal gets booked for pushing into Jota's back multiple times without an attempt on the ball.
54' As the sole striker up top, Morata has struggled when Spain are trying to get out of their own half. The visitors have little outlet to relieve the pressure from the press Portugal are creating.
47' BIG CHANCE FOR PORTUGAL! Ronaldo is cleverly played in by Jota, and he attempts the shot from close range, but it is saved by Simon.
Bernardo Silva
Yellow Card
46' A fiery half to the start as Silva blocks Gaya in the face with his arm. The referee does not hesitate when taking out the yellow card.
Sergio Busquets
Hugo Guillamón
46' A half-time substitution sees Busquets, who gets the captain armband, come on for Guillamon.
46' The referee has blown his whistle, and we're underway for the second half.
As it stands, Portugal will be heading to the Nations League finals along Croatia, Italy, and the Netherlands. A draw won't be enough for Spain, and the visitors need to be more inspiring in attack in this half, if they want to advance.
Spain have had 71.6 per cent of the possession, but they have comfortably been second best. Portugal, who do not need to win this match, have been happy to allow their opponents the ball, and have had quite a few chances on the counter. Fernandes came closest to scoring, with his long-range effort hitting the side netting, fooling the entire stadium into thinking he had scored.
45' We have one minute of added time.
42' Sarabia crosses the ball into the box, but Costa comes out and easily claims it.
37' FERNANDES HITS THE SIDE NETTING! He's in the space that he likes to operate, and he's completely free to take the shot that's just wide. Spain are currently a mess defensively.
33' BIG SAVE! Jota manages to cut in with some fantastic skill, evade two defenders and shoot from inside the box, but Simon makes a fantastic save over his head to deny him.
Hugo Guillamón
Yellow Card
31' Guillamon gets booked for grabbing and pulling Ronaldo back.
25' From a Spain corner, Portugal counter but Ronaldo's touch lets him down, and the chance is gone.
22' Ronaldo is not happy! He feels he was fouled in the box after going toe to toe with Simon, with the Portuguese striker trying to press the keeper into a mistake. The referee calls a corner, rather than a penalty, which leads to a powerful shot from Neves that is saved.
21' BIG CHANCE FOR PORTUGAL! Jota heads down the ball in the box for Ronaldo. The striker gives it to Carvalho, but his shot is blocked. The referee blows his whistle after, as he feels Jota committed a foul when winning the header.
20' A good pass from Carvajal reaches Morata, but the Spanish striker is called offside.
19' A collision of heads between Carvajal and Mendes stops play for a few moments. The two get up after being looked at, and shake hands.
17' Spain are somewhat struggling to break down Portugal, who don't need to win. The home side are happy to sit back, and threaten on the counter.
13' Extremely loud whistles ring out from the home crowd as Spain pass the ball around the back.
9' Portugal enjoy some possession in the final third, with Jota getting into the box with the ball, but the angle is too tight for him, and he's unable to place his shot.
8' Portugal lose the ball in their own box, and chaos ensures! Sarabia gets a shot, but Portugal recover quickly enough to block his attempt.
4' Rodri pulls back Ronaldo, and the home side win a free-kick. Spain successfully perform an off-side trap, and Ronaldo's shot from the box goes over the bar anyway.
1' The referee has blown the whistle, and we're off!
The teams are out, and the match will be underway momentarily!
Spain haven't won against Portugal in a competitive game away from home since March 1934, when they won by 2-1 in World Cup Qualifiers with a brace by Isidro Langara.
For Spain, Carvajal, who was not in the squad earlier in the week has come in for Cesar Azpilicueta, while a new midfield trio of Rodri, Koke and Soler also get the nod.
Cancelo is back from suspension, and has slotted back into the starting lineup, meaning Dalot is dropped to the bench, despite his two goal performance against the Czech Republic. Ronaldo also retains his spot despite getting into a bloody clash against Czech goalkeeper Tomas Vaclik early on in their match.
