Commentary

Liverpool prepare to face Manchester United at Old Trafford next, while Palace host Aston Villa. Klopp and his men need their first win sooner rather than later if they're to challenge City for the title again this season. That's all for now. Goodbye!
The draw leaves Liverpool 12th in the Premier League table, four points behind league leaders Manchester City already. Palace are 16th. They'll be pleased to have escaped Anfield with a draw that gives them their first point of the season. They'd have taken that before kick-off.
Liverpool are yet to win in the Premier League this season as Palace have held them to a second successive draw. The Reds will be disappointed not to have won this game, especially after Nunez's second-half red card left them in the lurch. Palace worked hard but did little going forward apart from score in the first half, and Diaz's spectacular goal salvaged a point for the hosts.
90' + 6' FULL-TIME: LIVERPOOL 1-1 CRYSTAL PALACE
90' + 5' Liverpool keep pushing for a winner, but it isn't forthcoming. Alexander-Arnold's cross is headed away, play's stopped briefly due to a pitch invader, and Palace keep things calm until the final whistle!
90' + 4' Palace win a late corner down their right. Olise's delivery is headed off-target by Richards, and Andersen drags the ball across goal from the left of the box.
K. Tsimikas
Yellow Card
Liverpool
90' + 2' Tsimikas is the latest player to find himself in the referee's book for his reaction to Olise being given a free-kick against Carvalho.
Guaita
Yellow Card
Crystal Palace
90' + 1' Guaita's shown a yellow card for taking his sweet time over a goal-kick. The Palace keeper's been leisurely in such situations for a lot of the game.
90' There'll be five more minutes of this. To their credit, Liverpool look the more likely side to snatch a winner late on.
89' Ward's unfortunate to have a free-kick given against him as he challenges Diaz for a header. The free-kick rebounds to Carvalho who lashes wide from the edge of the box.
O. Édouard
Yellow Card
Crystal Palace
88' Edouard's booked for preventing Liverpool from taking a quick free-kick.
M. Olise
J. Schlupp
Crystal Palace
88' Palace make use of their final substitution window. Olise replaces Schlupp.
87' Salah comes close to completing Liverpool's comeback! Tsimikas' snap shot from the left of the box is blocked but not totally cleared. The ball comes out to the Egyptian, whose curler is inches away from finding the top left corner of the net.
85' Tsimikas' cross from the left is wayward, attracting some stern words from Klopp. Sloppiness like that will do Liverpool no favours.
83' Carvalho earns a free-kick for Liverpool down their left. Nothing comes of it.
81' Liverpool still believe they can win this, but they're running out of time. They've had just four shots in this second half.
Fábio Carvalho
H. Elliott
Liverpool
79' Liverpool make a substitution. Elliott heads off. Carvalho replaces him.
L. Milivojević
E. Eze
Crystal Palace
79' Eze goes off too. Milivojevic wanders onto the pitch for Palace.
C. Richards
T. Mitchell
Crystal Palace
79' Mitchell's game is over too. The American defender Richards comes on for Palace.
W. Hughes
C. Doucouré
Crystal Palace
79' Palace make a few more substitutions. Hughes takes Doucoure's place in midfield.
78' Chance for Palace! Zaha fluffs a simple finish at the far post as Alexander-Arnold is caught out by a cross from the right. Zaha should hit it with his left foot, but connects with his right instead and rattles the woodwork. Palace should be 2-1 up.
76' Diaz tries to control Tsimikas' high pass but isn't able to master it. The Colombian shows his appreciation. He's doing his bit to keep Liverpool's spirits up.
74' Liverpool get a corner down their left. Tsimikas' delivery is cleared. Diaz does well to abort Palace's counter-attack.
72' Palace are in a tricky position now. Do they try to hold on for the draw and invite pressure, or chase the win against 10 men and leave themselves open? They appear to be plumping for the former at the moment.
70' Alexander-Arnold shoots off-target from the right of the box. Liverpool may be a man down, but the momentum's back with them.
J. Ward
Yellow Card
Crystal Palace
68' It's a yellow card for Ward after his foul on Diaz. Palace won't mind so long as he keeps his discipline.
67' Diaz wins a free-kick in his own half as he's impeded by Ward. The referee will show Ward a card of some kind.
65' Edouard's penalised for catching Tsimikas with his arm. The Greek takes the free-kick for Liverpool from the left, but his delivery is off.
O. Édouard
J. Ayew
Crystal Palace
63' Palace make a change of their own. Edouard replaces Ayew to give them a more orthodox threat up front.
J. Henderson
J. Milner
Liverpool
63' Milner is Liverpool's third substitution. On comes Henderson, who takes the captain's armband.
J. Gomez
N. Phillips
Liverpool
63' Phillips goes off too. Gomez takes his place at centre-back for Liverpool.
K. Tsimikas
A. Robertson
Liverpool
63' Klopp elects to make changes to Liverpool. Tsimikas replaces Robertson at left-back.
J. Milner
Assist
Liverpool
61' Milner can claim the assist, but that was all Diaz's doing. It'd be a great goal at any time, but it's especially important given Liverpool's predicament. They've got belief again!
L. Díaz
Goal
Liverpool
61' GOAL! LIVERPOOL 1-1 CRYSTAL PALACE! Diaz draws 10-man Liverpool level with a stunning strike! The Colombian receives Milner's pass, jinks inside from the left, and curls a fantastic shot into the far top corner from the edge of the box. You don't save those.
59' Liverpool are now lining up in a 4-3-2 formation. They've got half an hour to salvage something from this game.
J. Andersen
Yellow Card
Crystal Palace
57' Andersen's booked for his part in the altercation with Nunez. It's worked out very well for Palace though.
D. Núñez
Red Card
Liverpool
57' RED CARD FOR LIVERPOOL! Nunez is shown a straight red card for headbutting Andersen after the Dane pushed him on the back. It was provoked, but the Uruguayan's lost his head as his teammates urge him to leave the pitch. He's also made Liverpool's job a lot tougher.
56' Diaz gets on the end of Salah's cross and fires wide from the centre of the box. Liverpool are huffing and puffing without blowing Crystal Palace down.
54' Nunez's cross from the byline is cut out. Salah squeezes the ball out to Robertson, whose own cross is unsuccessful. Milner's follow-up effort is caught by Guaita.
52' Palace are finding more time and space in Liverpool's half now, and the fans at Anfield are getting impatient. Ayew's cross from the right is blocked. Liverpool are unhappy as Ayew goes down briefly claiming injury.
50' Zaha wriggles down the right but his path to goal is blocked. The Ivorian doesn't complain.
48' Chance for Liverpool! Salah sends Nunez running through on goal, only for Ward to slide in bravely to block the striker's shot. Nunez tries to return the ball to Salah, but Palace are able to smuggle it away.
46' Liverpool get the second half going. It feels like a big 45 minutes for them.
Liverpool have won just one of their last 11 Premier League games when trailing at half-time, while Palace have lost just one of their last 13 from this position. Anything less than three points would be damaging for the Reds though. Their title race might be hobbled before it's begun.
Liverpool don't deserve to be behind, but they are. Palace have defended admirably under extended pressure, and Zaha made the most of their one big opportunity to give them the lead. Klopp's men have played OK, but they're going to have to dig deeper in the second half.
45' + 3' HALF-TIME: LIVERPOOL 0-1 CRYSTAL PALACE
45' + 2' Guehi hands Liverpool one last corner before half-time. Palace can't clear it, and Elliott finds Nunez to the left of the box. Nunez's clip bounces off the right-hand post and back into play! Salah fouls Schlupp, and Palace survive to go in at half-time with their lead intact.
45' There'll be at least three minutes of additional time before the break. Palace will go in the happier side at the moment.
43' Andersen hands Liverpool a corner in a mix-up with Guaita after Elliott heads straight at the Palace keeper from Salah's high cutback. Thankfully for Palace, nothing comes of it.
42' Palace are finishing this half the stronger team. Liverpool's confidence has dipped slightly since they went behind.
41' Zaha's sent in behind Liverpool's defence again. This time the Palace's man's tough is too heavy, giving Alisson time to close him down and concede a corner.
L. Díaz
Yellow Card
Liverpool
40' Diaz is shown the game's first yellow card for grabbing ahold of Ayew's shirt and tugging him down.
38' Doucoure blazes high and wide from distance. The ball comes back to Zaha seconds later, and his low shot gives Alisson a routine save to make.
36' Nunez's ambitious effort from outside the box bounces wide to the left. Liverpool don't look rattled, but they're going to have to come from behind again. They've conceded the first goal in their last six Premier League games now.
34' The player stop for a brief water break. It's hard to understate how clinical Palace have been here. The hosts have had 11 shots so far. Palace have scored with their first one.
E. Eze
Assist
Crystal Palace
32' That was a very fast break by Palace, who took full advantage of Liverpool's high line. All Eze had to do was send Zaha scampering and the Ivorian did the rest.
W. Zaha
Goal
Crystal Palace
32' GOAL! LIVERPOOL 0-1 CRYSTAL PALACE! Palace take the lead against the run of play! From a Guaita long kick, Eze takes Fabinho out of the play and slides in Zaha, who zips into the box and places the ball confidently into the far bottom corner.
30' Andersen tempts Nunez into fouling him down Palace's right. The free-kick's sent back to Mitchell, who pings the second ball towards Guehi. It doesn't work out, and Liverpool counter. Salah nods harmlessly at Guaita from Alexander-Arnold's pass.
28' Nunez's shot from outside the box is blocked. Schlupp catches Nunez as the Uruguayan holds the ball up. Liverpool gratefully accept the free-kick.
26' Liverpool are getting wide and crossing at every opportunity. This time Salah clips the ball across to Milner, whose flick-on is of no concern to Guaita.
24' Van Dijk decides to have a go at goal from way out. The Dutchman's effort whistles way off target.
22' Alexander-Arnold has a crack from distance. It's blocked. Liverpool soon come again, and Salah prods wide from Alexander-Arnold's low delivery. Palace are trying their best to cope with Liverpool's high tempo.
20' Liverpool have had 14 touches in Palace's box already. Palace haven't had a single one in Liverpool's box yet.
18' Eze's caught offside. Liverpool make progress down their left until Ward manages to play the ball off Diaz for a Palace goal-kick.
16' Robertson finds himself furthest forward for Liverpool and chests the ball down in the box for a blocked shot. It lands to Diaz, whose deflected shot loops up into the arms of Guaita.
14' Nunez runs onto Phillips' ball over the top into the right of the box. The Uruguayan centres it from the byline, but it's too close to Guaita.
12' Salah plays a cute pass inside to Milner, but the 36-year-old can't control it inside the box. Palace get a goal-kick.
10' Liverpool get a corner which Palace clear. The hosts keep Palace pinned in their own defensive third with some furious pressing, attracting applause from Klopp.
8' Alexander-Arnold's low cross is laid off by Salah to Elliott, who smacks it into a defender. Liverpool keep the pressure on and Nunez skies a free volley at the far post!
7' Salah receives possession to the right of the box and waits for support from Elliott, who loses the ball. It's all Liverpool so far.
5' Elliott's hopeful shot is closed down by Andersen. Liverpool are playing with high energy as ever.
4' Salah checks onto his favoured left foot and gives Guaita another cross to get his hands to, which he does more comfortably this time.
3' After some treatment, Guaita gets back on his feet and punts upfield from the goal-kick. It goes straight out for a Liverpool throw-in.
1' Liverpool get off to a blistering start! Alexander-Arnold whips a dangerous high cross into Palace's box that Guaita unconvincingly punches clear. Milner bursts onto the scene and blasts high and wide as he's rushed by the Palace goalkeeper. It looks like Guaita has picked up a knock somewhere in all of that.
1' Palace's talisman Zaha kicks things off here at Anfield! Liverpool are in their all-red home kit. Palace are playing in all-white.
Since losing 2-1 to Palace in April 2017, Liverpool have won 10 consecutive Premier League games against the Eagles, scoring 30 goals in the process. Palace have lost their last five visits to Anfield, although they did pick up three consecutive wins here between 2015 and 2017.
There's just one change to Palace from their defeat to Arsenal. Ward slots in at centre-back, replacing Edouard in a 5-4-1 formation.
There are four changes to Liverpool from their disappointing draw with Fulham. Phillips makes a surprise start at centre-back, while Elliott and Milner start in midfield. Nunez makes his first league start for the club up front after scoring off the bench last time out.

Palace have a tricky opening run of fixtures; having lost 2-0 to Arsenal on the opening day, their next trip after Anfield is to Manchester City with a home match against Aston Villa in between. The Eagles haven't lost their first two games of a Premier League campaign since 2017-18 and won't want to play catch-up already.
Liverpool's Premier League season has gotten off to a sluggish start as they could only labour to a 2-2 draw away to Fulham in their first game. With defending champions Manchester City already setting the pace at the top of the table, Jurgen Klopp's Reds really can't afford to hang around.
