Commentary

France have reason to sulk until September, then, while Croatia can head off on their holidays on a high. That's all for now. Goodbye!
France's defeat means they stay bottom of Group A1, two points behind Austria who've lost 2-0 to Denmark. It's been a poor international break for Les Bleus. Croatia rise to second in the group, two points behind the Danes. They had just four shots in this game but crucially made their best one count.
Croatia escape Paris with a win to extend France's winless streak to four matches! Modric's early penalty proved to be enough for the Croatians, who defended stoutly in the second half in particular. France took too long to get going and weren't clinical enough when they did.
90' + 5' FULL-TIME: FRANCE 0-1 CROATIA
90' + 5' France nearly snatch a point at the death! The hosts get a corner out of Ivusic. Pavard's shot from outside the box is blocked, and Konate connects with Coman's cross only to head wide! That, as they say, will be that.
90' + 3' France are throwing players forward now, but their final ball is lacking. The crowd groans as Digne's cross from the left is cut out. Benzema looks to pick out Griezmann shortly after, but there's too much power on the pass and it goes out for a goal-kick.
L. Sučić
M. Kovačić
90' + 2' Croatia substitution. Sucic replaces Kovacic for the last few minutes.
90' There'll be at least four more minutes of this. France could still salvage something if they can create the right opportunity.
89' Croatia might have done enough to secure the win now. France's threat has faded in the past few minutes.
87' Croatia enjoy enough of the ball to allow Vlasic to get a shot away from inside France's box. Maignan stops it from finding the bottom left corner.
85' Rabiot fires off-target from the left of the box. Croatia have been under pressure in this half, but they're hanging in there.
83' Coman uses his fresh legs to burst down the left and tempt Stanisic into conceding a corner. Croatia manage to defend it.
81' Mbappe darts into the box and stops with the ball near the byline as several Croatia players stand off. In the end, Erlic nips in to win it and gets fouled by Mbappe as he tries to get it back.
A. Griezmann
M. Guendouzi
80' France make an attacking change. Guendouzi off. Griezmann on.
78' France get a free-kick deep in Croatia's territory. The crowd clap rhythmically as Mbappe prepares to strike the ball. When he does, it whizzes high and wide.
77' Kramaric strays offside as he tries to reach Erlic's pass. France are squeezing the play, making it hard for Croatia to escape their own half.
75' France force a corner down their right. Tchouameni gets his head on the end of it. It loops up towards the far post, but Croatia have a man there and are able to nod the ball away.
73' Kovacic is caught offside from Juranovic's throughball.
K. Coman
C. Nkunku
73' France make another substitution too. Nkunku goes off. Coman comes on.
N. Vlašić
J. Brekalo
73' Brekalo also goes off. Vlasic is his replacement for Croatia.
A. Kramarić
A. Budimir
73' Croatia make a few more changes. Kramaric replaces Budimir first.
71' Chance for Croatia! Brekalo jinks towards the box from the left before laying off to Majer. Majer fires at goal and Maignan pushes the substitute's effort aside.
69' France continue to push for that equalising goal as Benzema drags his shot from the right of the box wide to the left. Croatia are under increasing pressure.
A. Rabiot
Yellow Card
67' Rabiot's booked for simulation. Majer barely touched him. He certainly tried to make the most of the challenge.
67' France are upping the tempo. Mbappe gets a brief sight at goal in the box and shoots. Croatia block. Rabiot bursts into the area and goes down after a little push from Majer.
L. Majer
M. Pašalić
65' Here's that Croatia change. Majer replaces Pasalic.
64' Croatia are preparing a substitution. They'd be wise to react now before France manage to find the equaliser they're threatening to score.
B. Pavard
Yellow Card
62' Pavard commits a forceful foul on Brekalo. The French substitute's shown the yellow card.
60' Mbappe reaches Nkunku's pass and drills the ball low towards goal from the right of the box, trying to beat Ivusic at his near post. Croatia's goalkeeper is up to the test though, handing France a corner which the Croatians survive.
58' Pasalic sends a low cross into France's box from the left. Tchouameni makes an excellent interception to prevent it from finding its intended target.
56' France improving should concern Croatia a little. They've not had a shot yet in this half.
54' France are starting to look threatening! There's a scramble in Croatia's box that Benzema almost capitalises on. Tchouameni carries the ball from deep but is intercepted. Mbappe's vicious effort from outside the box bounces just wide of the far post.
52' Pasalic blocks Digne's cross to hand France a corner which they use to keep possession. France do look more purposeful since the half-time break.
51' Nkunku takes a sliderule pass in his stride and lashes towards goal from the left of the box. Ivusic has the shot covered.
M. Brozović
Yellow Card
50' Brozovic is shown the yellow card for bringing down Nkunku.
49' Budimir latches onto a delightful over-the-top pass from Kovacic and stings the palms of Maignan. He's offside though.
48' Tchouameni's speculative low drive from distance is easily caught by Ivusic.
47' France get the second half started. Let's see how those two changes affect things.
A. Tchouaméni
B. Kamara
46' The anonymous Kamara also makes way. Tchouameni comes on.
B. Pavard
J. Koundé
46' France make two half-time substitutions. Kounde goes off after a difficult half at right-back. Pavard replaces him.
France have failed to score a first-half goal in all four games of their Nations League campaign so far. Sure, they've been at the end of an exhausting season, but no other side has managed that. They could well score in the second half, but Croatia will rightly be confident of securing another draw at least.
Croatia lead at the end of a frustrating first half for France. They have only themselves to blame for being behind, handing their visitors a penalty through a clumsy mistake which Modric easily dispatched. Since then, the world champions have improved slightly, but the Croatians have more than held their own.
45' + 2' HALF-TIME: FRANCE 0-1 CROATIA
45' + 1' France's corner lands to Digne at the far post. The left-back lashes the ball at goal and it takes a deflection to hit the side netting. The crowd urge their team on as France win two more corners. Nkunku heads well over from the second.
45' France get a corner down their right. The officials indicate a minimum of two minutes of added time.
43' Modric crosses from the left for Croatia but catches Kounde on the follow-through. France get a free-kick.
41' France look short of ideas. Croatia haven't done a huge amount going forward either, but they haven't had to.

38' Budimir races into the box and blasts a shot against Kimpembe to earn a corner for Croatia.
36' France have calmed themselves slightly, but they're still going nowhere fast. Croatia have got things well under control.
34' Rabiot has a shot from distance blocked. Croatia work the ball nicely down their left, but Maignan is alert enough to catch the eventual cross.
32' Guendouzi's lofted ball over the top just fails to pick out Mbappe. It drops out of play for a Croatia goal-kick instead.
30' In contrast with their hosts, Croatia are keeping their cool. The visitors are popping the ball around in midfield, attracting whistles from the home fans.
28' Nkunku goes for goal from outside the box and watches his effort flash wide of the left-hand post.
26' Brozovic impedes Nkunku's run down the right, giving a foul away. Croatia are doing a good job of frustrating France at the moment.
24' Modric buys a free-kick in his own half as he's stopped by Guendouzi.
22' Rabiot tries to make progress down the left but can't get past Stanisic.
20' Just revisiting Modric's goal briefly. Croatia have scored in their last six Nations League away games now. They can hold their own against the best opponents.
M. Guendouzi
Yellow Card
18' Guendouzi's booked for steaming into a challenge and barging Brekalo over with his elbow. France do not seem calm at all.
17' Maignan makes up for his mistake by confidently claiming Croatia's ball in. Still, the Milan keeper's intensity won't help France settle.
15' France are having a manic start to the game. Maignan fails to smother a throughball and kicks Budimir as the Croatia man tries to retrieve the ball. The referee gives Croatia a free-kick down their left.
13' France send a cross into the centre of Croatia's box. The rebound lands to Mbappe, who shifts the ball onto his right foot and smashes it against a defender.
11' Mbappe darts forward on the counter-attack. He's frightening once he picks up speed. The Paris Saint-Germain forward and his boss Deschamps are incredulous when he's brought down and doesn't win a free-kick.
9' Brekalo scoots down the left and flashes a cross across the face of goal from the byline, but none of his teammates can reach it. Croatia do win another corner, but this one is less eventful than their first.
7' France almost equalise straight away! Mbappe connects with a sumptuous right-footed volley on the edge of Croatia's box. Ivusic is able to catch it.
L. Modrić
Penalty Goal
5' GOAL! FRANCE 0-1 CROATIA! Croatia's captain Modric steps up and smashes his kick towards the bottom left corner of the net. Maignan dives the right way and gets a hand to the shot, but not a strong enough one to keep it out!
3' PENALTY FOR CROATIA! The corner's swung in and Konate clumsily trips Budimir as the pair try to reach the ball. Benzema tries to carry it out of the box, but it's too late as the referee points to the spot!
2' Croatia start the game brightly and win an early corner down their right off Digne.
1' The visitors Croatia get this game underway!
The teams are out on the pitch at Stade de France. Oddly, France are in their all-white second strip. Croatia are in their black away kit.
There are six changes to Croatia from their win over Denmark. They revert to a similar team to the one that drew with France last week.
France boss Didier Deschamps makes eight changes to his team from their draw with Austria. Benzema and Mbappe start up front.

Just above France in the table are Croatia, who picked up a point at home against the French just last week. Their 1-0 win away to Denmark in their last game means they're looking comfortable in Group A1 at the moment, but no doubt France will be keen to make amends in front of a home crowd.
France's defence of their Nations League title continues to be underwhelming after the world champions needed a late Kylian Mbappe equaliser to salvage a 1-1 draw against Austria last time out. As things stand, Les Bleus sit bottom of Group A1 and are heading for relegation. It doesn't bode well for November's World Cup.
