Inter make improved bid for Benjamin Pavard but still fall short of Bayern's asking price for Man Utd transfer target

<p>The Serie A giants are <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/man-utd-inter-submit-official-bayern-benjamin-pavard/blt3ce6f7432cc6ac6b" target="_blank">eager to bring the France international full-back on board</a>, with their latest offer said to sit at around the €28 million (£24m/$30m) mark, with a further €5m linked to various bonuses. Inter had opened with a €25m bid, so are working their way up.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p><a href="https://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/Calciomercato/Inter/21-08-2023/pavard-all-inter-la-trattativa-con-il-bayern-le-cifre.shtml " target="_blank"><em>Gazzetta dello Sport</em></a> are, however, reporting that Bundesliga champions Bayern are demanding a package worth a guaranteed €30m (£26m/$33m) for World Cup winner Pavard. That valuation has been dropped slightly, but the German giants will not go any further when it comes to the versatile 27-year-old.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>The expectation is that Inter will find the funds required to satisfy Bayern’s demands, allowing them to land a top target. They are aware that Premier League heavyweights <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/manchester-united-benjamin-pavard-bayern-munich-asking-price-defender/blted9c7437d7917576" target="_blank">Manchester United have also been sniffing around</a>, but the Red Devils are also yet to make a suitable approach and would miss out entirely if the Nerazzurri act decisively.</p>

<p>Talks remain ongoing when it comes to Pavard, with San Siro seemingly set to be his next destination. The highly-rated defender has been with Bayern since 2019, taking in 163 appearances for the club and helping them to 11 major trophies – including four Bundesliga titles and a Champions League crown.</p>
