Gor Mahia will start their play-off engagement away from home on Sunday against the Congo side, and GOAL profiles their squad to identify players who can hurt their opponents.

  • Benson Omalla of Gor Mahia and Kenya and Harambee Stars.j

The youngster has scored crucial goals for Gor Mahia in the Premier League and in the Confederation Cup.

Against Al-Ahly Merowe in the previous round, he scored the second goal as K'Ogalo emerged 3-1 winners and AS Otoho d'Oyo must come up with a strategy to contain the visibly ambitious and success-hungry youngster.

  • Ernest Wendo of Gor Mahia.

    Ernest Wendo

The deep-lying midfielder has been a long-serving member of Gor Mahia and, over the seasons, has occupied a spot in the first team owing to his general contribution.

Wendo is an effective cushion for the back four and can frustrate an opponent both physically and tactically, and those traits could play a bigger role for Gor Mahia as they search for a first-leg win away from home.

  • Gor Mahia keeper Gad Mathews.

    Gad Mathews

The former Karioangi Sharks goalkeeper has established himself as Gor Mahia's number one choice, both under former coach Manuel Vaz Pinto and currently under Mark Harrison.

Mathews can pull off surprising saves, thus denying the opponent clear goal-scoring chances, and he is also good in one-on-one situations.

  • John Ochieng of Gor Mahia.

    John Ochieng

The former Chemelil Sugar midfielder has grown into an undroppable midfield figure and has worked quite perfectly with Wendo behind him and Austin Odhiambo in front of him.

His aggressiveness in ball recovery after Gor Mahia lose possession and his ability to press the opponent are added advantages that AS Otoho d'Oyo could find hard to deal with on Sunday.

  • Jules Ulimwengu of Gor Mahia.

    Jules Ulimwengu

Ulimwengu's combination with Omala in Gor Mahia's attacking department is fast growing into a lethal partnership.

Should coach Harrison decide to have both strikers in his starting XI, then AS Otoho d'Oyo should expect relentless attacks from the duo.
