The AFC Champions League (ACL) is set to get underway in a new format which will see 40 clubs competing in 10 groups. The West Group (A to E) matches will be played across six venues in four cities over the next three weeks. 

Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and India are the host countries for the 2021 ACL group stage games. 

Let us take a look at each of the venues. 

  1. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (India)

    #1 Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (India)

    The Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, also known as the Fatorda Stadium, is the home ground of Indian Super League (ISL) side FC Goa and has a seating capacity of 19,000 fans. 

    They will host all matches of Group E featuring teams like 2020 runners-up Persepolis, Qatar’s Al Rayyan and UAE’s Al Wahda FSCC along with the Gaurs. 

  2. King Abdullah Sports City Stadium (Saudi Arabia)

    The King Abdullah Sports City Stadium was completed in 2014 and since then it has hosted several world class matches including the 2018 Italian Super Cup between Juventus and AC Milan and the four-team 2019 Spanish Super Cup contested by Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Valencia. 

    The 62,000 capacity sporting arena will host all matchesof Group B featuring Al Ahli Saudi FC, Iraq's Al Shota, Qatar's Al Duhail and Iran's Esteghlal. 

  4. King Saud University Stadium (Saudi Arabia)

    The football arena was inaugurated in 2015 and can host 25,000 spectators. It is the home of Al Nassr and will host Group D which features the men in yellow, Al Sadd, Al Wehdat and Foolad FC. 

  5. Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium (Saudi Arabia)

    The Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium, commonly known as the Al Malaz Stadium, was opened in 1971 and has a seating capacity of 22,000. 

    It would six matches of Group A featuring Al Hilal, Shabab Al Ahli, FC AGMK and Istiklol. 

  7. King Fahd International Stadium (Saudi Arabia)

    The King Fahd International Stadium is located in Riyadh and has a seating capacity of 67,000. 

    It would host Group A and Group D matches. In Group A the teams are Al-Hilal (KSA), Shabab Al-Ahli (UAE), Istiklol (TAJ) and FC AGMK (UZB). 

    Whereas in Group D are Qatar's Al-Sadd, Al-Nassr (KSA), Al-Wehdat (JOR) and Foolad FC (IRA). 

    The venue has hosted several high profile competitions such as the ACL Finals in 2014 and 2017, the 1997 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 1989 U20 World Cup Final. 

  8. Sharjah Stadium (UAE)

    #6 Sharjah Stadium (UAE)

    Home of Sharjah FC, the 15,000-capacity stadium was renovated before the AFC Asian Cup 2019.

    This stadium will host Group B of the ACL which features Sharjah FC, Iran's Tractor FC, Uzbekistan's Pakhtakor and Iraq's Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya.
