Despite apparent interest from several clubs, Matsatsantsa insist that their prized asset is not for sale

SuperSport United forward Jeremy Brockie has attracted interest from several of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) biggest clubs, including Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns.

However, Matsatsantsa have been quick to quash rumours suggesting that Brockie could be on his way out. Following the appointment of Stuart Baxter to the Bafana Bafana hot seat, speculation has been rife surrounding the 29-year-old’s future, but the Tshwane side insist that the New Zealand international is going nowhere after newly appointed head coach Eric Tinkler, indicated to the SuperSport hierarchy that he is very much a part of his plans ahead of the new season.

“There is a lot of interest in Jeremy, but he is going nowhere,” SuperSport CEO Stanley Matthews told The New Age.

“We’ve sat down with Eric (Tinkler) and asked him what he thought of the squad and which players he want to build around. And he has indicated Jeremy (Brockie) is one of those players. And we are not going to sell him short, regardless of the interest,” Matthews added.

“Everything has a price but this is more than money for us.

“But no, we are not going to be selling him. I think Naturena (Kaizer Chiefs) and Chloorkop (Sundowns) will both have a bit of disappointment. Maybe we can speak next season,” Matthews concluded.
