Australian defender Milos Degenek has scored his second goal in under a month for Japanese side Yokohama F.Marinos, netting early in their 2-1 J-League Cup win over Albirex Niigata.
Degenek struck in the 14th minute with an effort from the top of the box as he helped Ange Postecoglou's taste their first win in five games and keep their cup run alive.
Prior to a headed goal last month, the 24-year-old had only ever scored once in his senior career meaning he has tripled his tally in a very quick period.
The goals come at the perfect time for Degenek, who was included in Bert van Marwijk's preliminary 26-man Socceroos squad earlier this week - which will be trimmed by three prior to the World Cup.
Degenek, who played at youth level for Serbia, became a regular figure for Australia during a difficult World Cup qualifying campaign under Postecoglou and has played in both of van Marwijk's games in charge to date.
