The west African nation have approached the 26-year-old to commit his international future to the Teranga Lions

The Senegal Football Federation have offered Marseille right-back Bouna Sarr a place in the country's 2018 World Cup squad.

Sarr, born in Lyon to a Senegalese father and a Guinean mother, has been in a fine form for the Olympians this season, featuring in 48 games across all competitions.

Previously, the 26-year-old turned down an offer to represent Guinea at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea due to club commitment.

However, the FSF are set to make Sarr a member of Aliou Cisse's team ahead of their second appearance at the quadrennial showpiece.

Earlier this month, the former Metz player was tipped to take the place of injured Djibril Sidibe in the France national team for the tournament in Russia but he stated that he was not keen on the role.

"I hope that Djibril will recover in time. For me, he is the one who deserves the most go to the World Cup, and then personally, I keep focusing on my performances," Sarr told Maxifoot.

"I do not start a match thinking about the French team, I'm thinking of my work, Olympique Marseille and the fans."
