Nwankwo Kanu confirms attendance at Nigeria Pitch Awards gala
Nigeria and Arsenal football great Nwankwo Kanu has announced would attend Monday’s Nigeria Pitch Awards ceremony.
After the Super Eagles’ international friendly against Congo DR, attention will shift to Le Meridien Ogeyi Palace, Port Harcourt to celebrate the country’s performer in football.
The award sanctioned by the Nigeria Football Federation will see Chelsea’s Victor Moses battle Wilfred Ndidi and John Obi Mikel for the King of the Pitch diadem.
And Kanu who was crowned Africa’s best footballer on two occasions has declared his support for the event.

“This Pitch Awards is a credible and prestigious award in Nigeria and I, Kanu is going to be there [on Monday] to be part of the event,” he said in a short video made available to Goal.
“And I call on all Nigerians to be a part of this because this is what we the footballers or whosoever in sports have to appreciate.”
Also, president of the Nigeria Pitch Awards, Shina Phillips has thanked all the voters and members of the Nigerian media for their support for the Nigeria Pitch Awards.
“Sports Editors and journalists have been our voters for the last 5 editions and they have done this conscientiously without receiving any form of wages.”
Football administrators, referees and journalists are not left out as they will be rewarded for their contributions to football in the country.
