Abia Warriors’ assistant coach, Patrick Ngwaogwu has expressed that there is no panic in the camp of the Umuahia side ahead of their weekend clash with Plateau United and that injured Agbor Ekoi could be involved against the league leaders if he is passed fit for the match.
Ngwaogwu hinted that Abia Warriors’ players and coaches see the tie as must win as they are eager to improve their league placement and that they are fired up ahead of their encounter with Plateau United after their loss to Enyimba in the Oriental derby played in Calabar last weekend.
“There is no cause for alarm. We are aware of the fact that we must beat Plateau United this weekend to ensure that we leave our present spot on the league table. The last home draw and our loss to Enyimba have affected our position on the league table but we are determined to beat Plateau United,” Ngwaogwu informed Goal.
“We have continually stated that the league is a marathon and the fact that no much difference in the standings between top five and those in the lower part has given us the self belief that we can still achieve our objectives before the end of the season.
“We are delighted with the fact that we have almost an injury free squad and the only doubt, Agbor Ekoi who was substituted against Enyimba has completed his individual sessions and will be examined on Friday to see if he will be available for selections ahead of the Sunday tie,” Ngwaogwu concluded.
Abia Warriors are 12th on the league table with 32 points from 24 games and they are under pressure to return to winning ways after they were held to a goalless draw in their last home outing by Remo Stars.
