Having already booked their spot in the semi-finals of the 2017 AFF U-18 Youth Championship, Malaysia U18 on Tuesday confirmed their first place in Group A when they held Thailand U18 1-1 in the final group match.

Bojan Hodak's charges went into the match at the Thuwunna Stadium needing only a draw as they were leading the standings, and did just enough to secure what was needed.

Nik Akif Syahiran Nik Mat gave the Young Tigers the lead in the 50th minute, but Kritsada Kaman equalised for the War Elephants in the 63rd minute, to ensure both sides finished the group stage without a defeat. They both had won all four of their earlier group matches.

The semi-final matches will be played this Friday, September 15. Malaysia and Thailand's respective opponents will be decided on Thursday, when the last group matches of Group B will played.

Only Vietnam (9 points), Myanmar (6) and Indonesia (6) are still left in the running for qualification. On Friday Vietnam will face hosts Myanmar, while Indonesia will take on Brunei.
